All You Can Eat
Recently I had some family in town and they wanted to eat somewhere that they did not have in their home town. Being as we live in Wyoming, this was about everything. We eventually decided we were going to go eat at Red Lobster. This was not my first choice as I don’t like paying an arm and a leg for dinner, but once we walked in the door I was glad that is where we decided to go. This was one of the best meals I have had from a restaurant in a long time for the service was amazing, the atmosphere was comfortable, and it was their All You Can Eat Shrimp promotion.
We started our experience at the front door like all guests. We were immediately greeted by their host Amy who had a big smile on her face and a warm welcome. And even though there was a little bit of a wait, she kept us informed on how long we were going to be waiting and that helped out a lot. Then once we were seated our server Cassandra came by and told us what the specials were and took our drink orders. The whole evening she was right there, making sure that we had everything that we needed and made our meal move along very smoothly. To say the least, she was one of the best servers that I have seen, and the service was just the start of it!
The atmosphere of the restaurant was about perfect. It wasn’t too hot or too cold at our table. The music was loud enough that I could not hear the conversation at the next table but quiet enough that I could still hear the one that was happening at our own table. We had a couple of kids with us and they, too, were very comfortable. They were brought coloring pages and crayons to keep them entertained and this also helped us adults because we were able to talk with each other and not have to entertain the kids so much.
Then comes the best part of all, the All You Can Eat Shrimp promotion. Like I said before, I hate paying an arm and a leg for a good meal, but this promotion was awesome! Not only did it come with biscuits and a salad, but then you got to pick the entrée you wanted and when you were done with that they offered you more and it didn’t have to be the same entrée. So for the first one I tried the Shrimp Alfredo Pasta and then I tried the Teriyaki Shrimp Skewer. And the kicker to it all was this whole meal was only $14.99! What a great price for any meal at a sit down restaurant, let alone at Red Lobster and for All You Can Eat that comes with salad and biscuits.
This visit was by far the best experience at a restaurant that I have had in a very long time. I would highly suggest to anyone, especially in this economy where we don’t have a whole lot of money, that if you want a good meal at a great price, you check out Red Lobster. I know that I will make it a point to go back to this restaurant, not only during this promotion for the price, but also because we were taken such good care of by their staff and they really made us feel comfortable and welcome!

All You Can Eat Buffet

...Ludibina Rivas ECON 2302 Spring 2015 Course Learning Outcome #3 Activity Restaurant are willing to offer all you-can-eat buffet meals and still make money from customers because of the law of diminishing marginal utility. This law states that the more of a good you consume per period, the smaller the increase in your additional consumption (McEachern). This is what helps restaurants make money from buffets. When a person goes into a restaurant that offers a buffet they are ready to eat as much as they can. They well instantly enjoy their first plate thinking they want to keep eating more and are making their money worth. As soon as they serve their second plate they have two factors that will affect if they are going to go for that third plate. First thing would be that they aren’t going to enjoy that second plate as much as the first, so it wouldn’t want to make them go for a third plate. The second factor would be by the time they finish that second plate most people get full. If they serve themselves that third plate, while being full they are not going to get anymore satisfaction from the meal. So yes, restaurants do gain profit from all you-can-eat buffets. Due to the fact that they attract more people thinking they are going to eat as much food as they want for one price. Works Cited McEachern, William A. ECON-Principles of Microeconomics. 4th. Mindful Eating Research Paper

...Benefits to Mindful Eating Mindful eating is a concept that helps you to manage and maintain your eating habits. It is a dietary technique, but it is not a diet. It is a learned and applied lifestyle form of eating, but it is not a fad. Our daily lives are often filled with mindless eating habits that can sabotage our healthy intentions. Too often we’re in a hurry, we don’t take the time to make healthy food choices, and the food we do choose, we’ll end up eat too fast. Food is often thought of as a distraction from whatever activity has our attention and not as a pleasure as mindful eating teaches us. We also tend to eat when we’re bored, when we’re stressed, when we’re watching television or reading a book, even if we’re not really hungry. These mindless eating habits often end up as extra...

To Eat or Not to Eat

...Ivy Allshouse To Eat or Not to Eat PSY 240 November 17, 2012 Rebecca Gadza To Eat or Not to Eat Good Afternoon everyone, thank you for joining us today for our discussion on eating disorders. For those of you who have not been here before my name is Ivy, I am the counselor here at Healthy Mind, Healthy Weight Center for Eating Disorders. Today we will be talking about Obesity/Anorexia and the reasons we eat or don’t eat. First I would like to start today’s session off talking about some of the physiological aspects of eating and why we really eat. There are many different theories of what tells us we need to eat. We get the feeling of hunger to signal when we need to eat. As we all know we provide our self with food and that food is converted into energy. Once the food enters our body it starts what is called digestion. Digestion is a gastrointestinal process that breaks down food and absorbs the vitamins, minerals, and fats into the body. Once food is digested it is converted into energy and stored in three forms; fats, proteins, and glycogen. Energy is mostly stored as fat in the body for two reasons, one it holds more energy than glycogen and two glycogen holds more water, which would make the average person over 600 pounds. There are three phases that each person goes to through to metabolize energy (Pinel, 2009). The cephalic phase is the first phase. The cephalic phase begins with the sight, smell, or thought of food. The cephalic stage ends once the food compounds...

Why You Should Eat Breakfast

...going to start out by asking you this. How many of you eat breakfast everyday? Well did you know that breakfast is the most important meal of the day? Many people skip this meal and in fact, it is shown that less than 40 percent of Americans eat breakfast every day. Most people have very busy schedules leaving them with little time to eat breakfast. However, you should try your best to eat a nutritious meal before you start your day. There are a number of reasons to why you should eat breakfast. I’m going to tell you about 5 of those. The first reason why breakfast is so important is because its gives you an energy boost to start your day. What our bodies need in the morning is a meal that includes each of the three macronutrients: protein, good fats and complex carbohydrates. Protein’s role is to provide sustainable energy. It takes longer to digest than carbohydrates, so it will hold you over until lunchtime. A good protein breakfast would be eggs. Fats are equally important, as long as you stick to good fats like olive oil. Use olive oil in the pan when you make eggs. Complex carbohydrates provide glucose, our body’s main source of energy. Glucose is the brain’s sole source of energy. That’s where you get your sharp attitude and quick wit. Also, our muscles lean on glucose for sustained energy. Good sources of complex carbs are whole-grain bread, waffles or cereal. The second reason why you should eat breakfast is because it makes you smarter. You are more likely to have a...

You are at a disadvantage, due to the language differences. However, you will soon be accustomed to the normalities here, since it is my job to make you aware of these differences. When you finish reading this, I hope you have a better understanding of what is to be expected regarding food here, by reading about what foods are served, the timing of meals, and the ways you can go about getting food, whenever hunger strikes. In America, typical breakfast foods include bacon, eggs, pancakes, waffles, and sausage links. French toast and biscuits and gravy are also tasty breakfast options. If time is limited, one might have a Hot Pocket, Toaster Strudel, Pop Tart, toast, donuts, or oatmeal. Table Manner

...Table manners are the rules of etiquette used while eating, which may also include the appropriate use of utensils. Different cultures observe different rules for table manners. Health and Social Care

...Food safety act 1990 Food safety is really important because you will be handling food that you don’t want to come across any harmful bacteria that can affect people’s health. For example you would need to make sure that the food is safe to eat this can be done by making sure that the food is cooked correctly and has been stored in the right place. Another way to ensure that the “food safety” policy is put into place is by making sure you don’t add, remove or treat food in a way that makes it harmful to eat for example storing cooked food with uncooked meat. Make sure the food is the same quality that you say it is. This is important because customers will be expecting you to be serving them fresh food if you have said or placed labels on packagings. If food is slightly out of date and you decided to still serve it then this can cause people to become ill as they did not know as you placed false labels on your food. This would mean that you are making sure you don’t mislead people by the way food is labelled, advertised or marketed. A few other things that you should make sure you ensure to do if you handle or serve food is to * Keep records on where you got food from and show this information if needed. * Withdraw unsafe food and complete an incident report * tell people why food has been withdrawn or recalled, e.g. a leaflet or poster And lastly display your food hygiene rating (if you sell food direct to the public). Eating at Home or at Restaurants

...or at Restaurants All the people in the world like food, and they always eat every day such as, breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Everybody has special or different ways to eat or prepare food, and the favorite place to eat food. Some people prefer to eat at restaurants, other people prefer to prepare and eat food at home. I prefer to eat at home for two reasons that are the health and comfortable. First, I often prepare the food and eat at home because eating at home is healthier than eating at restaurants. When you cook or prepare a meal in your home, you can add some great value at your meal. For example, you can make a special meal by choosing healthy food that includes Vitamins and Carbohydrates. I mean, you can control and choose what kind of food you like to eat. On the other hand, eating at restaurants is not healthy because the restaurants are not responsible for your health, and they don’t care about your health. For example, eating food at restaurants has high fat and bacteria. Second, when you eat at your home, you feel comfortable. You can do anything as you like. For example, when I decide to eat at your home; you can eat lying or standing. On the other hand, at restaurants you can’t feel comfortable because everybody watches you, and you can’t speak or laugh loudly because it is public space. In sum, I think every person from every country or city has a different way to eat food. I often enjoy preparing and cooking food, so I like to eat at my...

Health

...health can be affected . Nutrition is an important factor when it comes to the human body. Without it your body won’t develop as it should. With different types of ways to feed your body nutrition. People don’t think highly of nutrition. All we worry about is what the food taste like and how much it cost. As of right now I don’t truly have a current fitness habit. That does not mean I don’t work-out. That simply means I don’t have a weekly work-out plan or schedule. When it comes to working out there is not a lot of weight lifting involved in my work-out. A normal work-out would consist of mainly running for my cardio and doing hands-on activities for other areas. When working out I try to keep myself hydrated. So I try to give my body all the right nutrients. Which consist of water and other sports drinks that give good nutrition during a work-out. As far as getting all the right nutrition I need while eating I don’t get on a daily basis. Out of seven days in a week three or four days might be good days where I take in all the nutrition that I need. As a result to this im not as healthy as I thought I was. I know healthier food should be implemented in my diet on a daily basis. A better work-out plan should be affectively made up and put to use on a weekly basis also. Obesity affecting your health depends on a great deal of things. It depends on your gender, age, how physical you are, and where you carry your body fat. Being obese puts you at risk for diseases. ... Christina Holland To Eat or Not to Eat PSY/240 Chantell Hines June 28, 2012 2 Good afternoon. My name is Christina Holland, you can call me Chris. Today’s session will explain to you all some physiological factors that cause people to ea or not eat. We will also discuss some myths about hunger and satiety. Please feel free to ask questions about anything during and after our discussion. I would like to begin by covering what a few of the physiological factors are that can cause people to eat or not eat and then move on to specific eating disorders and some of the biopsychological views on them. It is important to understand the concept of hunger and fullness from physiological research and what it has shown us. Let us begin with things that have been discovered to be untrue. A common belief is that our blood glucose levels affect our hunger and satiety. However, research has shown that this is untrue; glucose levels remain fairly stable and do not fluctuate often. You may be wondering what glucose has to do with hunger. The belief was that when our energy levels dropped so would our blood glucose, this would then trigger our hunger; we would then eat restoring our levels back up to a certain energy level. If this were true then people would maintain a relatively stable amount of weight because we would only eat for the amount of energy we...
