...“Already but not yet” Should be understood as the final battle between good and evil has already been won, but not yet. Christ is the victor but has yet to come and claim His full reward. The term “already but not yet” should resound through Christian teachings today. With The homosexuals winning their battle for same sex marriage, and many other victories for the other side. By knowing that no matter the battles lost today, Christians have already won the war, as the Church recognizes, however, that she exists in an interim state, she eagerly awaiting the return of Jesus Christ, and the consummation of all of God’s purpose. The “already” shows that Jesus is the fulfillment of all prophesies of the Old Testament. He is the true interpreter of Mosaic Law (Matthew 5:17-48, Hebrews 3:1-6), the new Joshua whom gives final rest to believers (Hebrews 3:7-4:13). He is the fulfillment of God’s true wisdom transcending the wisdom of the Old Testament (Colossians 2:1-3). He is the final prophet predicted by Moses (Deuteronomy 18:15; Acts 3:22-23; 7:37). The promises of the fulfillment of the kingdom are evident in His miracles, healings, and authority over demons (Matthew 12:28). Jesus is the one who will sit on David’s throne forever, thus fulfilling the already. The “not yet” indicates that the church of God is, however, in an interim state, as it awaits the return of Jesus Christ, and attempts to live out God’s purposes. The church is in a sense the new community of God, filled...

...Nicholas Kutcher Dr. Balok 12:00 Poem Response: Waves 02/25/2013 Have I left myself slip too far way? Do you still care? How many “second” chances do you really get? You can push yourself so far away from someone that you will eventually lose them. The summer of 2011 was the moment that I almost lost someone very important to me, my girlfriend. At this point we were dating for around a year and we both meant a lot to each other. In the summer we were inseparable, never leaving each other’s side. One day in the summer I visited my friends in Michigan, who I have not seen for a few months. It was Fourth of July weekend and my girlfriend was in California with her family and for her birthday that was on the sixth. On the fourth my friend asked me to go my ex-girlfriend’s cabin with some of my old friends. So that day we were up there for a few hours just sitting around and not doing very much at all, we left after a few hours because my friend needed to be home. When we go back I took a nap in the basement and later that night we saw fireworks. Two days later I was back home in Stow, Ohio, back to my normal boring summer life. Today was Erica’s birthday, my girlfriend. I got a call from her, but she wasn’t happy to talk to me; she didn’t want to talk to me at all. She called me because she saw a picture of me at my ex’s cabin from two days before. Nothing happened that day, but to a girlfriend she doesn’t know whom to believe. She didn’t talk to me for a few days until...

...Giant Pool of Money Analysis The awful subprime lending crisis is truly one of the most convoluted, wreaking messes conjured by the financial industries in the 20th century. There are so many layers of bad choices and megalomaniacal errors intertwined into this ugly event that picking out just two biases/heuristics to analyze and discuss will surely fail from being a complete analysis. Nonetheless, this is a the task at hand and, though we will not but scratch the surface of this behemoth, teasing out a couple biases will make for a viable illustration and application of the concepts and issues we have discussed thus far in class. The bias that caused the most havoc in this lending crisis scenario was articulated beautifully by Bazarman and Moore as The Confirmation Trap. The Confirmation Trap boils down to whether or not a person merely searches for data that supports the decision they wish to make rather than looking for proper, empirical data to prove the assumption correct. In other words, does a person looking to make a decision actually look to prove their assumption incorrect. Sadly, at nearly every stage and at every level of the subprime lending fiasco there is evidence that all the players fell victim to The Confirmation Trap. Wason writes, “ . . . that obtaining the correct solution necessitates a willingness to attempt to falsify hypotheses, and thus to test those intuitive ideas which so often carry the feeling of certitude.” None of the characters in our...

...The impacts of climate change are felt worldly and are incomparable in scale. Even though climate change is such a huge issue in the world, most people don’t know exactly what is being affected and what changes are happening. In the August 2015 issue of Rolling Stone Magazine, author Eric Holthaus of the article “The Point of No Return: Climate Change Nightmares Are Already Here” discusses the issue of climate change. He utilizes logos and pathos within his article to successfully spread awareness of the negative effects that climate change is having on various parts of the world. Throughout the article, Holthaus uses logos by including many facts and statistics from studies done by various scientists to further show what is happening as...

...Two Heads of Consumerism Consumerism is define as the preoccupations of society, but two different authors take this universal definition and creates two vastly different articles. Although, both authors agree that consumerism is a form of a cycle or “paradox.”( Your Lifestyle) However, a notable difference in one article, “Your Life Style Has Already Been Designed”, is the way the author presents his evidence through his own personal experience. This author makes an effort in referencing himself through his own experiences with consumerism. In the beginning of this article he mentions his new job, but realizes how easy it was for him to make unnecessary spending, “I’ve been markedly more careless with my money.” (Your Lifestyle) This author also mentions the psychological aspect of how marketing is done at a very young age to Americans, which this stays with us...

...10/9/12 Formal Analysis of Samsung’s “The Next Big Thing Is Already Here” Ad In Samsung’s latest commercial spot for the Samsung Galaxy S3 it is clear that the iPhone 5 is the elephant in the room. Samsung has long pitched its Galaxy smartphone by highlighting its larger screen and 4G capability, but now they are taking a less conciliatory approach: putting on the gloves and taking their Galaxy S3 toe-to-toe with Apple’s iPhone 5. Samsung is clearly going for the proverbial jugular by taking on the “next big thing” factor that comes along with every Apple product launch. Without skipping a beat, Apple has managed to put out one blockbuster after another, and whether it is the iPod, the iPad, or the iPhone, they have all revolutionized how people interact with technology. Samsung is trying to remind its target audience through their latest ad campaign that Apple has not just conceded their edge in putting out revolutionary products to Samsung, but that all the secrecy and hype surrounding their product launches is growing stale even among their customer base. The commercial starts in Chicago with an Apple fanboy waiting in line at an Apple Store to get an iPhone 5. He then tells the person next to him, “They’re saying that this phone is going to be like a precious jewel!” which elicits oohs and ahs from the people in line around him. The scene then flips to San Francisco, where another Apple fanboy has his mind blown after he hears Apple is going to put the headphone...

...Super Bowl Sunday is the biggest advertising day of the year. Every year, companies spend fortunes on thirty second clips hoping to grasp the attention of all the millions of viewers tuned in to the game. But why is the Super Bowl such a big advertising event? Audiences have been changing over the years. It is not that everyone has stopped watching television, but rather the audience is fragmented. There is so much more TV out there. People now watch so many different channels that it is rare that so many viewers are tuned into one channel. That makes the Super Bowl’s reach – more than 100 million viewers in the U.S. – such a huge craving for advertisers. People watch this game live. Other times the audience may tape the games. Thus, the audience may be fast forwarding through the commercials and not watching them. During the Super Bowl, a large portion of viewers actually WANT to watch the commercials. This season the Super Bowl will be played on February 2nd. But nearly two months away from the big event, all of the ad space is sold. Neil Mulcahy, the executive vice president for sales at Fox Sports, said that automobile companies are big spenders this year. Some of the car companies that have said they will spend on advertising this year include General Motors, Hyundai, Jaguar, and Kia. Other companies who have mentioned they will purchase advertising space are Anheuser-Busch InBev, Butterfinger, Dannon Oikos yogurt, Doritos, GoDaddy, Intuit, SodaStream and Wonderful pistachios...

...A tremendous number of celebreties have already been spotted using marijuana, including numerous public figures likewise: Bill Clinton, George W. Bush, Barack Obama, Clarence Thomas, John Kerry, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Sarah Palin, and quite a few police officers and judges who are now officers that defend and prevent people from using it. Popular culture accepts marijuana and most people who have tried it will say privately that the prohibition against “weed,” “cannabis,” or “pot” is unjust and fully unfair, unwarranted, or simply silly. Yet a lot of american citizens were arrested for marijuana, and so many of them were arrested just for its possession. Our treatment of marijuana doesn’t make sense but fortunately change is on the horizon. Consequently, we recognize and comprehend the right of adults to use alcohols and to smoke tobacco because we're living on a society in which citizens have the right to choose their destiny since it doesn't harm anyone else. We respect the right of adults to choose to use these recreational drugs despite their known risks, but this red line of reasoning should also be applied to marijuana which is a less harmful and hazardous than cigarettes or alcohol In fact Marijuana have a lot of benefits in terms of health, there is a growing body of evidence showing that marijuana can provide relief to people suffering from various cancers, AIDS, glaucoma, and other physical and mental conditions, yet marijuana does make its consumer feel stoned...

...“It is More important to discover new ways of thinking about what is already known than to discover new data or facts”. This great dilemma, which the question is based on, is in choosing between discovering new ways of thinking about what is already known and discovering new data or facts, is quite a complicated task. Before I begin, the terms “new ways of thinking”, “facts”, and “data” must be defined. According to various dictionaries, data is defined as a series of observations, measurements, or facts; information is defined as an event which is known to have happened that can be verified through experience or observation. The phrase “new ways of thinking”, seems more ambiguous because how can there be new ways of thinking? However, for this essay, the definition of thinking from a different perspective or thinking in a way that is different from all previous ways of thinking is used. This, however, allows different people to have different new ways of thinking. A new way of thinking to one person would no longer be the same to another person. Most often, people would firmly say that new ways of thinking are innovative and new advances are advantageous; for example, in Economics, advances in technology would lead to a greater productive and allocative efficiency, which would result in greater levels of economic growth for a certain country, which, of course, it’s a great benefit for the society. However, there is also a need for discovery new data and facts to broaden our...

...Is it more important to discover new ways of thinking about what is already known than to discover new data or facts? “Data without a qualified human to analyse it is worthless.” However, even a qualified human needs data in order to analyse it and utilize his thinking tank. Hence, the quest to choose between the discoveries of new ways of thinking about what is already known and discoveries of new data or facts is complementary. A new way of thinking can bring about innovation; however, it needs to be supported with data in order for it to be proven reliable. Similarly, new data or facts are worthless until they are proven reliable by a new way of thinking. Hence, the discovering new ways of thinking about what is already known and discovering new data or facts are both equally important. The reliability of a data which was given no thought and left unanalysed and the possibility to prove an innovative thought without supporting it with facts and data are the issues which will be explored in the essay. I will look into the objectivity of the issue in the areas of business and science – the two topics where data and innovation are omnipresent. To discover new ways of thinking about what is already known brings innovation and might seem more important that discovering new data or facts. However, the innovative theory needs to be supported by data and facts in order to be proven and accepted. This can be best understood by a popular scientific discovery of the past – “Darwin’s...

...Established companies such as Coca-Cola and McDonalds do not need to waste profits on advertising as they already have a vast and loyal customer base. Student ID: 0080379103 Student Name: Jing SUN Word count: 1639 The role of advertising in the developments of brand image and brand extension in established companies. Utilizing advertising in a most effective and efficient way is always a concern in most companies, as advertising requires a costly investment in both capital and human resources, which in return is expected to create positive outcomes. With a large volume of consumers and brand loyalties created in established, some argue that advertising can be merely a waste of money. While this idea addresses two major outcomes of conducting advertisement, attracting potential consumers and building brand loyalty, it ignores other contributions, for example, brand extension and brand image building, that could be enhanced by advertising in established companies. This essay will illustrate the reason why advertising is required in established companies, focusing on how appropriate advertising may contribute to developing brand extension and enhancing brand image. First of all, the informative function and social function of advertising will be interpreted. The following sections will demonstrate why large companies should focus on building up brand image and developing brand extension and how advertising contributes to these two dimensions. Then, the negative impact...

...To what extent do you accept the view that the USA and the USSR were already divided by irreconcilable differences by the end of the fighting in Europe in May 1945? I agree to some extent that the USA and USSR were already divided by irreconcilable differences by 1945 due to their ideological differences which contradicted the beliefs of the other nation. The USA believed in a democratic world which would benefit the economic interests of the USA with free open markets. However the USSR with its new position in the world aimed to improve its security by spreading its communist influence in neighboring countries. Security was an important issue due to its past experiences of being attacked by the west through Eastern Europe such as the west's intervention in the Russian civil war of 1917-18. This experience therefore led the Soviet Union to have a mutual suspicion of the motives of the USA and the west during the war. Therefore the USA and USSR were already divided by 1945. However they were not completely divided as they managed to become allies in their fight against Nazi Germany. The fact that they were able to unite to fight a common cause which was to defeat Nazi Germany illustrates that they were not divided by irreconcilable differences by 1945. The two nations were already divided due to their ideological differences as highlighted in source 1 which is from the orthodox perspective. According to the USA, 'The USSR was a revolutionary state' inherently driven by Marxist-Leninist...
