...Amazing Experience Shawn 2013/7/10 Have you ever tried to travel by yourself? especially the country that you have never been to before. I had an amazing experience when I traveled to another country. I can't forget it because that time I almost became homeless. It happened when I made a plan to visit Portland, Oregon. I was twenty one years old and it was my first time to visit another country by myself. At first, everything was good, but almost two hours before I took my airplane, someone called me and told me that my flight would be delayed one hour, so I didn't have to be at airport on time. I didn't care about that but I had a serious problem which was I had to change my planes on Tokyo. It meant I didn't have enough time to transfer. Therefore, I missed my flight to Portland. I was so scared. I didn't know how I can do at that time and I just stood at the Tokyo airport and saw my flight leaving. But I understood that I couldn't just stand there and not do anything. I started to ask some people and I wanted to get some answers from them. Luckily, I met a person who could give me a hand and she could speak Chinese. She was working at the airplane company which I took. After I explained my situation to her, she told me that it was their fault so her company could help me to do everything such as booking the hotel and airplane ticket for free. I really appreciated this woman, if I didn't meet her, maybe I couldn't go back to my country or go to Portland safely. ...

...Happiness has a very controversial meaning for many different people. People do not always seem to agree on the definition of happiness and that is because people have not all had the same experiences in life where they can agree on a meaning. Through traveling to Belize, Costa-Rica, Cancun, and Puerto Vallarta I have been able to enjoy some amazing experiences as well as seeing how each location is different from one another. My definition of happiness would have to be traveling because I get to experience many different cultures, cities, environments, as well as doing different activities and seeing how each place differs from one another. Puerto Vallarta was the first vacation trip I took that made me realized how amazing being introduced...

...Ecuador Roadtrip Introduction Travelling experience Body Ecuador around the world The “Ruta del Spondylus” Food, adventure, night life Conclusion Learning about my culture Personal experience. For many people the word “travelling” can have many meanings. Some people would consider that If you don’t get in a plane then you’re not really travelling, or that if you don’t go shopping in the place you are visiting then you’re not really travelling either. However, for many people, especially foreigners, travelling is more of a learning experience. You can get to know different cultures, people, customs, food, infrastructure, history, music, languages, dialects and so on. There is a specific kind of trip called “roadtrip”. Roadtripping started as a hippie thing, it’s basically about driving around to different cities, towns, countries without a plan. You can either end up in a nice hotel or at a road motel and both will make you feel or give you the same comfort; even there will be times when you will have to sleep in your own car. Ecuador is most known around the world as a touristic place; actually, most known by foreigners than by their own people (Ecuadorians). I’ve met a lot of foreigners, from different countries, from the US, Europe, Middle East, Latin Americans and so on, and most of them know Ecuador for their beaches and especially for Galapagos Island. We are supposed to teach other people about our country; unfortunately, it turns...

...Have you ever wonder what it's like to be a penguin? Lauren Tarshis writes her article, trying to get the reader to put themselves into a penguin's flippers. On the other hand Dyan deNapoli writes about a first hand experience with rescuing penguins from an devastating oil spill. In this essay I will be telling you the differences and similarities between Lauren Tarshis’s and Dyan deNapoli’s point of view about a penguin rescue effort after an oil spill. Both Lauren Tarshis and Dyan deNapoli support penguin rescue efforts. They believe that penguins are worth fighting for. In Tarshis’s article she explains that “As news of the rescue effort spreads, hundreds, and then thousands, of volunteers flock to the warehouse, eager to help,” (paragraph...

...The national narrative of transformation depicted in the appended presentation purports to explain African American's long winded struggle for voting rights, as inspired by “Amazing Grace”. The Library of Congress describes the historical formation of the “Amazing Grace” hymn as, “the joy and peace of a soul uplifted from despair to salvation through the gift of grace” (The Creation of “Amazing Grace”). Considering that interpretation of “Amazing Grace”, the photographs in the presentation serve to exemplify the dynamic of both discouragement and jubilance in the African American struggle for voting rights. For example, on the sixth slide of the presentation, a photograph of a black male being lynched for voting is displayed. This photograph represents American (black people’s) moments of despair as a result of manipulative social relations between blacks and whites and the American government’s neglect of concern for African Americans. In contrast, on the thirteenth slide is a photograph of the African American First Family of the United States and other leaders and activists marching across the Edmund Pettus Bridge (in Selma, Al) to commemorate 50 years of secured voting rights. This photograph represents the jubilance...

...time to reflect on the trip, I have to say that it was amazing and I experienced things I will never forget. Throughout everything we did and saw, the one thing that surprised me the most was how great the people of India were. I never know what to expect going to a totally different culture, but I have to say the kindness we experienced from people in India was amazing. People were always willing to help us any way that they could. Whether it was the hotel employees, the bus crew, restaurant staff, bystanders on the street, or even those living in absolute poverty, the people of India were always smiling at us and wanting to know where we were from. Most people would think that they were always looking for a rupee or two, but that was not the case. They were genuinely glad that we were in their country and wanted to make sure that we had the best experience possible. It was inspiring and amazing and I think we could all learn of a lot from them. India was an eye-opening experience and it absolutely gave me an appreciation for how fortunate I am and it really put life into perspective. It made me realize what’s important and what I really value in life. There were times when I found myself frustrated, dirty, exhausted and ready to throw in the towel, but then I would turn a corner and spot something spectacular or come across a child with a smile on their face and I would remember how fortunate I was to experience such a unique place. India is a beautiful place filled...

...First Game I will be talking about my first baseball game at Angel Stadium. I am writing this paper to share with you my experience being at Angel Stadium for the first time. For my girlfriend and I’s anniversary she surprised me with Angel Tickets! They were playing the Los Angeles Dodgers and I was super happy because it was going to be my first Angel game and it was going to be an intense game! The game was around 6pm but we got there really early so that we could tail gate! I have never really tail gated but that day I felt like I did. It was so fun and everyone was having a good time drinking and listening to music playing small games like bag toss or playing catch with a football! Once we started walking to the stadium I couldn’t help but feel a little bit excited because everyone was so pumped up to beat the dodgers. Along the way to our seats that had so many different banners of the players like Mike Trout, Albert Pujols, Josh Hamilton and anyone else that was on the team or a retired player of the Angels, but right when I walked through that entrance all I could smell was popcorn, hot dogs, pretzels, anything you could imagine they had! It was like a dream come true and my girlfriend and I being how we are get everything they had. We got kettle corn, ice cream, soda’s, a pretzel, and to top it off a nice pink cotton candy. Once we sat down the game was about to start the first thing I said when the angels were up to bat was bet you Mike Trout hits a home run and she...

...Great Lakes Art Fair For the second art encounter I attended the 2014 Great Lakes Art Fair in Novi, Michigan. It was a short 1 hour drive for a great experience that I will tell my family about for weeks to come. This art fair reminds me of the Black Swamp festival that is in Bowling Green every year. There was art vendors as far as the eye could see. I enjoyed my time there looking at all different kinds of art, from the more contemporary styles, to classical works of art that looked as if they were taken from museum floors. The show consists of 200 artist displays, and includes free access to decorated gardens and a student art display as well. One of my favorite aspects of the festival was just the amount of art there was there. It was interesting seeing artists make pottery by hand, and showing off their tapestries that some of which took years to complete. It was really amazing to see these things, and to see how close and similar their techniques were, as to what we learned in class. Another thing that amazed me at the fair was the glassblowing demonstrators. Glass blowing has always been something that interests me. It was so cool seeing these people take molten globs of glass, and turning them into amazing bowls, vases and abstract works of art. It was really amazing to see some of the tapestries that these artists had worked on. In some cases their designs looked extremely similar to the sample projects that we had just finished. It was really cool to see what they...
