...anxious but also excited knowing that I learned from the very best. My mom is a strong and ambitious career woman that despite her busy schedule and the millions of things she has going on, she still manages to put family first and continues to look out for us every day. Motherhood is a gift and I know after watching my mom do it, it’s not easy especially when trying to balance a career. I’m honored to follow in her footsteps and make her proud like I am of her. And also my wonderful grandma MJ, such a strong and inspirational woman in my life! I love you so much! Make sure to tell your mom how much you appreciate her, not just on Mother’s Day but often. We love our mommas! To all the expecting moms and moms out there, have a blessed day! XoMother’s Day is one of my favorite holidays because it’s a special day to honor my role model and best friend. ...quick or mini confession. It wasn’t until I read Matthew 8:8 “Lord, I am not worthy to have you enter under my roof; only say the word and my servant will be healed.” As I continued to read Matthew I realized that the express has nothing to do with confession but is about faith and believing! In John 4:1-42 we read a story about Christ traveling from Judea to Galilee and while passing through Samaria meets a woman at a well. After speaking with the woman for a short time she becomes a believer and leaves the well to go into town and spread the word of the Lord. The story itself is amazing but when put into geographical and historical context the feat of turning a Samarian woman into a believer is immense. The normal route from Judea to Galilee would have taken days and Samaria was not a safe place for Jews but Jesus had a divine appointment with a woman from Samaria. Not only was it a risk to travel through Samaria it was also risky to speak to a woman alone in public, this was not considered culturally acceptable at the time. So for Jesus to happen upon a Samarian woman at a well during the middle of the day and t quench her “thirst”, make her a believer that he was Christ and for her to leave the well and go spread Christ’s message is of major significance. However most would never understand how major this is by just reading the Bible. I think for people to put effort into studying the historical-cultural context they need to travel. Traveling is what has done it for...

...With the upcoming presidential election so close, there is only one choice for who should be our next President: Bernie Sanders. Bernie Sanders is an amazing politician. He has been apart of human rights campaigns since the 1960’s; he has remained pro-choice and pro-women’s rights since the beginning of his political career. Sanders always fights for the middle class and working people to make sure that they have the same chances as every other American. A vote for Bernie Sanders is the right vote because he will continuously work for equality for everyday people. He will do everything he can to help lower the massive college tuitions and debts given to millions of students, and he will help women and men alike keep their human rights, whether...

...Hellenics are “perfect” sculpture, with perfect proportion, perfect hair, no scares and no emotions on the sculptures face. Hellenics sculptures show movement in their sculpture. The Pieta and the David are different in many ways. David is a classical style, heroic, godlike, and physically perfect. The sculpture of David would be in the Hellenic sculpture period. The Pieta is of the Virgin Mary holding Christ. The Pieta is like Hellenistic it has emotions, Christ has face hair and his hair is messy, the anatomy of the body is perfect but Christ’s ribs are showing. Both sculptures are similar by who made them, also the detail in both of the sculptures are magnificent. I personally prefer the Pieta because the emotions that show in this art is amazing. The sorrow that she is looking at her (what looks like) dying son. Truly the emotions that come from this piece of art is truly...

...Diary Of a Mad Black Woman and Family Reunion tow movies that hit top charts. Tyler Perry has directed and starred in his own movies ranging from romance to comedy. He comes from every aspect, he isn’t afraid to do what other directors are afraid, deep heart felt movies about love and how forgiveness can change a lot. From he started in 1992 when he saved us his little twelve thousand dollars only thirty people came out to his show, but look what determination and focus can bring you. He is a mutli-millionaire now. So far he has written, directed and starred in eleven of his movies and counting, I never get tired of this movies they bring such a change each and every time. His plots were catchy but he changes them up from time to time, so when you think you got he switches it up on you. He goes for all audiences young and old. Diary of a mad black woman was very dramatic and in every way full of laughter and family reunion the same way he does so well with storytelling showing you from the beginning to the end. Diary of a Mad Black woman started off with the happiness in the beginning and showing how loving they are, he basically narrated the first part, then he shows the truth. I would think that this man has been married to a bunch of different woman and they all broke his heart or something because of the way he writes and directs as it if was him. When her husband literally drags her out of the house by her feet kicking and screaming, it is amazing when a director can...

...Amazing Experience Shawn 2013/7/10 Have you ever tried to travel by yourself? especially the country that you have never been to before. I had an amazing experience when I traveled to another country. I can't forget it because that time I almost became homeless. It happened when I made a plan to visit Portland, Oregon. I was twenty one years old and it was my first time to visit another country by myself. At first, everything was good, but almost two hours before I took my airplane, someone called me and told me that my flight would be delayed one hour, so I didn't have to be at airport on time. I didn't care about that but I had a serious problem which was I had to change my planes on Tokyo. It meant I didn't have enough time to transfer. Therefore, I missed my flight to Portland. I was so scared. I didn't know how I can do at that time and I just stood at the Tokyo airport and saw my flight leaving. But I understood that I couldn't just stand there and not do anything. I started to ask some people and I wanted to get some answers from them. Luckily, I met a person who could give me a hand and she could speak Chinese. She was working at the airplane company which I took. After I explained my situation to her, she told me that it was their fault so her company could help me to do everything such as booking the hotel and airplane ticket for free. I really appreciated this woman, if I didn't meet her, maybe I couldn't go back to my country or go to Portland safely. ...

...Have you ever image your job being to bring a baby into the world? Bring the person that makes a woman the happiest in the world. “An obstetrician is a doctor that cares for the women during their pregnancy and just after the baby is born, they also deliver babies”(m.webmd.com). My passion is to be an obstetrician, when I get older. To study and become an obstetrician you have to be an expert in female anatomy and physiology. You have to graduate from high school and take a four year of college. “To become an obstetrician you will have to have a degree of a doctor of medicine. Have four years of residency, which means training, and also have a licensure or certification” (learn.org). To really achieve a goal, there is no time to party all...

...Branagh Synopsis: Frances Barber starts the film as a woman who lost her brother (Christopher Hollis) and in an attempt to find money and a place to live without the inconvenience of her true identity, she uncovers herself in a man suit and prepares to work and live as a man. In this first version of the film, Branagh uses his intelligence to create a clever and funny film full of twists and mystery identities. Review: I recently saw Twelfth Night film version by Kenneth Branagh and honestly I can say I was very pleased by the outcome. It is really hard to transform one of Shakespeare’s best literary work into an interesting film version that keeps the true essence of the story and keeps you wondering and laughing at almost every scene. Shakespeare’s books were meant to be acted alive, to keep the audience intrigue by its cleverness, interesting and sometimes twisted scenes in which characters were involved in non so usual circumstances, and the fact that Kenneth managed himself to achieve that in a film version amazes me. This movie is filled with amazing actors who truly represent the characters in the book. First, Frances Barber gives a really good performance acting as Viola, a woman who lost her brother but was convinced he was still alive and Cesario, Viola disguised as a man who falls in love with her master (Christopher Ravenscroft). The duke Orsino is represented by Christopher Ravenscroft who did an amazing job representing a man who was suffering for Olivia’s...

...For this term paper I visited the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA). Many of the drawings and prints on display would have been great pieces to write about but there were two that demands the attention of its viewers. The Woman with Hat in an Armchair by Pablo Picasso was one of many pieces on display in the Picasso exhibit, and to me the most interesting drawing on display at LACMA at the time. The Liberated Ones is print 23 of 27 in Hugo Steiner-Prags exhibit of The Golem and from this selection it was very difficult to figure out which one to focus on. I believe that the art pieces I chose to write about are the best that were on display to represent the artist as well as being the most interesting to write about. Pablo Picassos’ Woman with Hat in an Armchair is a 7 1/16 x 3 ¾ in. pencil on paper drawing created in 1915. Picassos signature abstracted style is perfectly displayed in this piece. The main reason why viewers are drawn to this drawing is because people get a sense of familiarity in something that they cannot clearly understand. The use of line carries the viewers eyes throughout the entire piece while breaking them up with abstracts curves and organic shapes which are not clearly identifiable. Even though the lines creating the box shapes are all mostly straight, Picasso differentiates them by have them all go in different angles which in return makes them all different and doesn’t bore the viewer. This drawing contains no color and I believe that...

...Nancy Hart, otherwise known as Aunt Nancy, was Georgia’s most famous female Revolutionary War participant. She was a strong woman who never backed down from a fight. Nancy Hart was an American patriot, and there were several stories that told about her incredible interactions with the British army. Researchers have debated if Nancy’s achievements were truth or had they developed into more of a myth. Nancy Hart’s existence had been questioned, and there is still debate among researchers about whether or not she had done the amazing things her stories have said, because the fact may have been twisted into fiction. Nancy Ann Morgan was born in either North Carolina or Pennsylvania around the years of 1735-1747. Her description was that of a...

...year of instruction and education from the Russian court. Since she accepted the orthodox faith, she had changed her name from Sophie to Catherine. Catherine wanted to make a statement in life and that was to become completely Russian. This would make her popular with certain political elements which would go against her spaced-out husband. Catherine wanted to increase Russia's power even with them having weaker neighbors, who were Poland and the Ottoman Empire. She had established a virtual protectorate over Poland in 1764. As time passed by she had secured the largest portion of Poland which was among Russia, Prussia, and Austria. Catherine may of been born as a German princess and be known for being the longest leading Russian woman leader but their wasn't just one thing that made her so famous, she was a strong and powerful ruler, which is generally what gives a monarch the title of Great. With Catherine be such a leading ruler one thing that made her so mighty was increasing Russia's territory...

...twenties-century in America. Winogrand's amazing exhibition includes 85 spontaneous photographs taken between 1960 and 1975 in and around New-York city. (Series of his photographs provided with the following links: http://imgur.com/jNApIzk, http://imgur.com/fY51U1d, http://imgur.com/aTd0ImL, http://imgur.com/R1Jd7J7, http://imgur.com/K1cJdwO, http://imgur.com/MNQWicg) During the 60's the attitude to women totally changed. Inner and outer freedom were explicit, in some ways, sexually explicit. “Prince of the streets” depicted this social transformation better that someone else. Lola Garrido called famous photographer “the maestro of the moment”: “In short, Winogrand catches with his camera every detail by composing and giving natural meaning to the representation.” (Garrido, 2014). But the gifted photograther found the way in which beautiful creatures express their sexuality through their gestures, hairstyles, clothes and some other interesting features, he avoided naked pictures. Richard Woodward writes in his article the following: “Winogrand didn't dress these women in tight sweaters or pant suits, or apply their hair and make-up. Their clothing choices—the deliberate or thoughtless ones all of us make every day—expressed imperfectly who they were and are rendered without judgment.” (Woodward, 2013). Women became free of their complexes, they were absolutely sure of their figure and status in society of that time. The interesting moment is the woman might never have known she was...
