Eva Feder Kitty’s journal article “ Taking Dependency Seriously: The Family and Medical Leave Act Considered in Light of the Social Organization of Dependency Work and Gender Equality” was an article that I felt was relatable. This is due to my position working for In Home Supportive Service (IHSS) which has allowed me experience first hand the struggles with the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) due to the limited time they are offered. The goal of In Home Supportive Service (IHSS) is to give people who are at risk of being place in a home an opportunity to continue to live in their own home independently with assistance from a caretaker. Once eligible for the program they are then able to hire a caretaker at the current rate of $10.65
