PEREZ 4TH YEAR/BS.HRM/NS (SUBMITTED BY) TABLE OF CONTENT INTRODUCTION HISTORY BODY * EASTERN PAINTING * WESTERN PAINTING * 20th-CENTURY MODERN * AND CONTEMPORARY DEFINITION OF TERMS * FAMOUS PAINTERS * AND BIOGRAPHY * Paintings of famous painters CONCLUSION RECOMMENDATION REFERENCE INTRODUCTION: Painting can be done in a variety of media. For example, Oils, Watercolour, Acrylics, Gouache and Tempera. Paints are made from a pigment, and a binder. Binder is relatively cheap, while pigment is much more expensive. Pigments are a colored powder, made from organic or inorganic materials. (This is different than a colorant, which dyes or stains a color.) All paints use the same basic pigments, but the binder changes. The binder for acrylics dries quickly and the paint is more like a plastic than oils which have an oil based binder and dry slowly. Oil Paints are often built up in layers or glazes. The other paints---Watercolour, Acrylics, Gouache, and Tempera---are water-based, meaning the paint can be diluted with water and clean-up can be done with soap and water. Oil paints, on the other hand, require paint thinner to clean brushes. The number and variety of painting techniques is endless. Besides quality of paint, factors affecting color quality include: paint opacity, glossiness of painting surface, lighting, transparency...

Art and Its Aspects

...Hurtado Professor Coleman 24 April 2014 Analysis Essay Revolution Of Art On the Bank of the Seine, Bennecourt by the French painter Claude Monet is one of the few great paintings that truly embody Impressionism. Claude Monet painted mainly with oil paints and canvas, using very characteristic small strokes and dabs of paint. Many of his paintings transmit a tranquil, soft feeling to the beholder because of this. He generally didn't use strongly contrasting colors or very strong colors. On the Bank of the Seine, Bennecourt was painted in 1868 on the Seine River in the Northwestern Portion of France. This painting depicts Monet’s future wife, Camille Doncieux, gazing across the Seine River at a village not too far off in the distance. The ability this painting has to capture the eye is amazing and unique, and allows you to fully appreciate the Impressionist Art Movement. The scene that is portrayed here is one of a woman sitting on the grass above banks of the River Seine. The woman’s hat is on her right hand side and both are covered in a patch of shade. To her left hand side is an enormous tree that provides the shade for her and the lawn. The woman is looking away ahead with her back turned towards us. In the river ahead you can see a couple in a small boat rowing down the river. You can also see the reflection of the house in the house in the water that is covered by the trees. This painting has a fresh and relaxed tone/feeling to itself. My initial reaction was impressed...

Grey Art Gallery

...Writing Workshop II Grey Art Gallery While some may argue that replications are a blight to the world of artistic craft, many have a greater appreciation of the reproduction of artwork paintings. Imagine if the Mona Lisa was only ever viewed upon by Leonardo Da Vinci, or within its locality. Centuries later, its true beauty would still be a secret to the rest of the world. It is hard to imagine that the most famous painting in the world would have been nothing more than a local favorite. Replication of fine paintings allows those who may never have an opportunity to own a masterpiece to feel like they do. Even while these alternates are not the real thing, with some, they may still have a hefty price tag. While others may have a more affordable and favorable price tag. Determining its worth requires a lot of attention to detail. The art of replication itself is very in depth. A great deal of skill and talent is required to master another's masterpiece. While some may tout it as otherwise, it is not a simple task try and match the brilliance of an original piece. To reproduce a painting doesn’t mean it’s merely a copy, but it is a new take, or interpretation of what the original artist was trying to capture. The replications of old images can often enhance the original image and make a masterpiece accessible to the world. The Grey Art Gallery of New York University is a complete mix of modern art, classic art, and replications. Exhibitions organized by the Grey Art Gallery encompass aspects...

Art Genre Paper

...Art Genre Paper Peaches University of Phoenix March 23, 2009 MMus   Abstract Expressionism Genre art evolved from the Dutch Baroque painters in the 17th century. The term “genre” generally refers to the pictorial representations in various media types that represent events of daily living. Such representations can be people, places, activities, parties, a building’s interior or a scenic outdoor setting. These scenes can be realistic, imagined, or even romanticized by the artist. This paper will examine abstract expressionism’s historical development and evolution of style, characteristics of the genre, influential styles or its influence on other styles, the influence of styles on three different visual or performing arts, and any significant contributions to the development and evolution of this style. Historical Development and Evolution of Style Abstract expressionism was developed in the context of diversity and an overlapping of sources and whose major contributors came from the 1930s. During this time “The Great Depression” had begun to yield two different art movements: Regionalism and Social Realism but neither of these appealed to this group of artists. This group was seeking significant content in their work. Having broken away from accepted conventions in both technique and subject matter, these artists used work that was monumentally scaled and reared reflections of their individual psyches. The artists of that time regarded the features of impressionism rather backward and repetitive, and therefore, they started up a new art movement: the post-impressionism (Crispino, 2008). This particular movement introduced new styles of painting; for example, they began using a wide variety of vibrant colors in paintings. Post impressionism artists also used a combination of thick and thin quick strokes of lines in their paintings, to differentiate their products from those of the more traditional impressionism artists. To be more unique and recognized as an independent art movement, the artists of the post-impressionist movement began drifting away from the common styles used by impressionist artists; for example, they began moving away from the idea of depicting...

...The Difference between Baroque Art and Renaissance Art By John Gramlick Trident University International The Baroque is a period and a particular style that was used to express motion with a clear interaction to detail that identified drama, tension, exuberance, and grandeur in sculpture, painting, literature, dance, and music. Baroque started on or about the 1600s in Rome, Italy and spread rapidly throughout Europe. In addition the Protestant Reformation took Baroque art and decided that they would use this style in communicating religious themes that identified emotions.
