Application to an Audio Recorded Client Case
Pattern of Questioning I identify the pattern of questioning that Dr. Insoo Kim Berg uses in “Dying well” as the initial open-ended questioning that is tailor for obtaining details about the clients and to get the client comfortably engaging in the flow of questioning patterns, through the process of solution language interaction with the client. The first few questions are basically probing question which help to generate solution and to identify goals early in therapy (Gehart, 2014). Throughout the session, I identify a combination of questioning patterns which lead up to the miracle questioning. Insoo Kim Berg was outstanding in every aspect of the therapeutic session with her client. I notice how she summarize and paraphrase what the client had talk about in the session. This help Dr. Berg gain a better insight in understanding the client issues and discover her strengths that the client can build upon. By building upon her strengths, she has gain a clearer picture about what she needs to do for the betterment of herself. The one thing that I notice from the Ericksonian approach is that they both has similar therapeutic aim which both approaches evoke client strengths and resources to resolve the client issues or problems. Both approaches focus on a strength-based concepts to help the client move toward desired outcome (Gehart, 2014). I found that with Solution-Focused Brief Therapy and the Ericksonian approach there are numerous commonalities then differences. Also, both approaches focuses on assessing the elements of problems and identify the elements of solutions that is geared toward solving the problem (Gehart, 2014).

These different strands share similarities which can be affectively applied to create new perspective for a more positive outcome. The three strand fall under the general term called solution-based therapy. These three strands have the same aim or objective which is to create or produce an active approach to helping client to move better outcome through the process of change.
There are so many lessons I have learned through the skillset that was shown in the audio recorded client case. I have actually seen the method of approach with this particular model. I have learned the collection of gathering specific information through construction questioning and putting into a context to help produce an influential consideration for the client. The positive finding through questioning can construct the positive information to convey new perspective so the client can consider the information for a path toward a better
