Year-round school is not practical going to. It is not worth going to because it is most of the time a lot of money and you don't get to do summer activities.

First, year-round schooling is a waste of money. In the summer it is very hot and to not be sweating a bunch in class to stay concentrated, you would need to have air conditioning. To have air conditioning running the whole summer it would cost a lot of money to do that. But, when you have a school year that gets summer off, you only have to pay a little bit for heating.

Second, when you go to year-round schools you can't go do summer activities. When school conflicts with summer you can't do summer activities such as camping, paddle boarding, and other fun activities you need no

Year Round School Break Essay

...should have year round school. I chose yes, because summer vacation is outdated. If you stop having school break you could take forever to get back to what you were learning before. Keeping schools open all year round could take pressure off of children to catch up. The first reason why we shouldn’t have summer break is because it would take forever to catch up. In addition, Students think of year-round schools to be no summer traditions, but you still get summer camps and beach vacations. Year-Round Education

...Year-Round Education One of the big issues today in the United States seems to be school reform; everyone seems to agree that we need to improve our nation’s schools. There have been several solutions suggested, such as: reforming curriculum, implementing national tests, and improving the quality of teachers. One specific solution may be to change the school calendar from the traditional school session of nine months, to a year-round term. Supposedly, this new calendar better facilitates learning. Year-round education has the potential to bring economy, accountability, and educational efficiency to the schools. While Year-Round schooling can save money, the impact on academic achievement is uncertain (Graves, McMullen and Rouse). This type of school system impacts students, teachers, parents and the community in both positive and negative ways. The traditional school calendar has been in effect for more than a century. Students have relied on a 180-day school year with a long summer vacation. Originally, the school calendar was organized so that children would have the summer off to help their parents work on the farm. Although most communities no longer depend heavily on agriculture and children no longer carry on the responsibilities they once did, our society continues to follow the traditional school calendar. The debate surrounding YRE (Year-Round Education) generally focuses on five broad categories: professional staffing and development, administrative...

...Schools should also consider organizations offered through the school. For instance, clubs have meetings and/or field trips. Some students and parents may feel these school organizations should be held during school days, not on vacation days. However, using a year-round system can cause planning of field trips and meetings to be more difficult, while trying to work around the schedule of school. Versus using a traditional system, scheduling of such events is less troublesome. Camps, school, and other organizations held during the summer are in jeopardy of suffering due to school being held throughout the entire year. Not only should schools keep in mind families’ views, school sports, and organizations offered through the school, they should also contemplate the cost for families attending the school. Cost for the families may include money for a daycare while school is not in session. Short term childcare is expensive. In some cases, families cannot...

Year Round Schooling

...Would you mind going to school all year round? When I was in elementary school and middle school in my native country Taiwan, our school systems were based on a schedule that has school throughout most of the calendar year as opposed to having no school in the summer. Most of the time when I began talking to my friends in America about the school system, expressions such as “This is ridiculous!” often came out. However, the term “Year-round schooling” is a misnomer. In fact, we do not attend school “year-round”, we attend approximately the same number of school days per year as traditional schools. Under year-round education programs we attend school for ninety days and go on vacation for thirty days; these vacations usually take places in spring, summer and winter. In this article, I will describe my experiences of attending both year round schools and traditional schools and explore the potential problems associate with both schooling systems as well as the benefits they bring. I received most of my primary and secondary education in Taiwan where we had to go to school year round. When I moved to Maryland in tenth grade, I was surprised that we had almost two and half months of summer vacation every year. During my first year of studying in the United States, I felt exhausted since I was not used to have little or no breaks throughout an academic year. Finally when my first summer vacation in the U.S. came, which I yearned for, I went back to my country for July and...

Benefits Of Year-Round Schooling

...Honors English 18 April 2017 YEAR-ROUND SCHOOLING: IMPROVING THE QUALITY OF EDUCATION In the article, “Should American Schools Go Year Round?” Sindhu Nair suggests the current academic calendar is past its time: This schedule was established when the United States was still a largely agrarian nation. At that time, this system was implemented because children were often needed to work in the fields during the summer. Since those reasons no longer make sense in this modern world, many people are advocating a shift away from this ‘antiquated’ nine month school year in favor of year round education. Used in most American schools, the current school calendar, designed in the late 1800’s, no longer meets the...

Essay On Year Round School

...Year round school is the new best option for schooling offered for children and their education. By continuing school year round, students are less likely to have any summer learning loss which helps them as they continue year after year of schooling. Students that live in low income-families will be benefited as this keeps them out of trouble and they will retain the information better. The new school schedule would provide breaks more often which would keep the students and teachers refreshed and ready to learn/teach. Year round school is the more ideal option for what the school calendar should be now for all children and teachers in America. All of us can agree that during the school year teachers and students have been exhausted at one point in time or another. This new schooling schedule would consist of students attending the same number of days as students on a traditional calendar schedule. Instead of long summer breaks, students attending year-round school would be given multiple three-week breaks more often versus a 3-month break once a year. This would allow students and teachers to stay more refreshed throughout the school year and be...

Summer Break Research Paper

...The second semester of school arrives and grade-school students have one goal in mind; they simply want to survive until summer break. The day-dreams include fantasies of getting gorgeously tan, stretching out in a hammock to read a good book, and having wild adventures with friends every possible day. However is this the reality of what the traditional three month summer includes? No, many kids instead complain to their parents of their complete and utter boredom by the time July hits. In the states closer to the equator the sun makes the outdoors so scorchingly hot that people get dangerously sunburned rather than a bronzed tan. And in all honesty, the average American kid is not spending her/his free time by reading such an “ordinary thing” as a book. This reality of how the end months of summer break turn out do not necessarily mean that the whole break was a complete waste all together. After...

...School Hours Essay Yes, Schools in America should be year round for the following reasons. Year round school is in the best interest of communities because it saves money, increases learning, and is a comfortable schedule for students. First, we need to establish why the nine month schedule was established in the first place? The nine month schedule was made when the U.S. had mostly agriculture in the communities and the schedule let the kids be able to help their parents on the farms over the summer when they were needed. Now that most communities aren’t rural anymore this schedule is no longer needed. Next, the year round schedule saves money. How is this possible? This is possible because with the year round schedule there could be what...

Year-Round Schooling Is A Mistake

...Year Round-Schooling is a Mistake Mostly all schools in the United States function on the 10-month calendar but as time pass through people propose to modify from the outdated system to the year-round education. In my perception schools should continue to use the traditional calendar and not a year-round schedule. There are various downsides to year-round schooling. It does not have a positive effect on education, it has a negative effect on the budget, and it interrupts the long summer vacation. To begin, year-round schooling doesn’t impact education in a helpful way. Most year-round schedules have 45 days of school followed by 15 days off. Because of this there are a great quantity of first and last days and that affect the learning...
