Benihana Simulation Analysis Introduction: Our aim is the maximization of the utilization of several inputs into output, through time and the profits made every nights from 6 to 10:30. The inputs we had to manipulate were : Hours of operation, advertising options, Batching, number of seats in the bar and the restaurant. With this in mind we had to design the best operational strategies to generate a maximized profit

For the first simulation I decided to put values according to my common sense : Table of decisions : The values in red are the ones I changed in every situation.

At the end of the first simulation, I understood that the tables used were the ones for 4­8 people. In addition I saw that starting to 8pm, no more customers were lost, no more drinks were sold. The results were a Revenue of 3’144 and a profit of ­144,26 With this in mind, I decided to change my restaurant input by input. So in the second simulation I only modified the advertising budget, the marketing campaign type and the opening hours which were all a part of a single input.
From the table you can see the marketing campaign is now awareness building and the its budget is 1x the normal budget and that the restaurant opens at 5 pm My attention went directly to the Bar as I saw that there was no customer in the bar from
5­7pm, therefore I decided that batching was a wrong idea between 5­7pm. Then I realized that from 5­7pm no customers were lost whereas we lost 25 customers from
7’30­8pm.

The good point is that I received a revenue of 3’367 and a profit of 163,75. I understood that I reduced my costs and increased my revenue in the situation 2. As I realized I had only 3 more simulations to do I decided to modify many inputs at the same time as I could not continue with my first strategy ...
