Bilbo left The Lonely Mountain as a new person that day. He was stronger, smarter, and braver. He parted with the other dwarves and he and Gandalf walked together. They walked silently until Gandalf asked, "Well Bilbo Baggins, how do you feel?"
Bilbo took a second before answering " I feel most extraordinary. I knew something was missing from my life but I was never sure what. Thank you, Gandalf for showing me what I was missing."
"Ahh, Mr. Baggins, I have not shown you for you have found it," Gandalf replied. "You have found what you are missing, though you sort of always knew due to your mother's blood. You have known but you have just done something about it."
"Well, I still thank you for helping me find it," Bilbo said.
"Oh, think nothing of it. Now!" We must be getting some rest shall we." said Gandalf …show more content…
“Ahhhhh” Bilbo screamed in terror.
He landed hard on a rocky terrain and hit his head. His eyes closed immediately and he slept for almost a day. He was woken by a slimy hand on his neck. I feel a pulse said a scratchy women’s voice. He slowly opened his eyes and saw…
“GOLLUM, GET AWAY FROM ME!” Bilbo cried.
“No, No,” said what Bilbo thought to be Gollum. “I’m Golumette,”
“Oh?”
“Yes, I’m Golumette.”
“WHO DO I HEAR SPEAKING.” another raspy voice screamed.
“Shh” Golumette whispered as she disappeared. Gollum walked in and saw Bilbo was awake.
“Ahh, how were you nap?” He grinned ferociously.
“Fine thank you,” Bilbo said.
“Well, you must be wondering why you are here,” Gollum said.
"I was," Bilbo said worriedly.
"Let's start from the beginning. While you were sleeping I wrote a note to take the right path and forged Gandalf's signature, genius right. Then, when you walked into the tunnel I grabbed you and pulled you down here. You are here because I want what is rightfully mine back,"
"The ring?" Bilbo asked.
"Precisely," Gollum said, circling

Youthful Bilbo Baggins's The Hobbit

...In The Hobbit, youthful Bilbo Baggins casually living in his satisfying little hobbit hole is hurried away by the apocryphal wizard Gandalf and a cluster of lionhearted dwarves to restore their lost treasure. Long ago, back in the day when dwarves populated the lonely mountain, they were acclaimed for their mining techniques. They put these to good use for uncovering gold from beneath. But as their golden wealth grew into a rather colossal size, it caught the attention of the hideous dragon Smaug. Dragons are known for their love of treasure and must have more of it at any cost. Smaug, an especially grand and ugly dragon attacked the lonely mountain and chased the dwarves away. This situation persisted until, one day, thirteen dwarves(Thorin,...

Spiders In The Lonely Mountain Bilbo Dialectical Journal

...Journal 3: “He felt a different person , and much fiercer and bolder in spite of an empty stomach. (Tolkien Page 156). The author develops a proud theme at this point in the novel. After an encounter with spiders in the Lonely Mountain Bilbo becomes proud when he was able to take on the spiders all by himself. The authors uses positive and motivational words to describe what is going on. “It was not very long before he discovered; but that belongs to the next chapter and the beginning of another adventure in which the hobbit again showed us his usefulness” (page 170). Throughout this point in the novel the author is really emphasizing that there is a progression in Bilbo’s character. There is an importance in the growth that he is experiences...

The Hobbit: or, There and Back Again from the Viewpoint of a Mythological, Biographical, and Historical Critic

...means “coming-of-age” and focuses on the emotional and physical development of the main character. The use of mythological criticism in the analysis of J.R.R Tolkien’s first novel The Hobbit is by far the most popular among renowned literature critics – one of whom was CS Lewis, an author of children’s fantasy novels himself. It is easy to explain the story from a mythological point of view; many ancient texts have themes similar to those of The Hobbit, including those of both a physical and emotional journey. The first of many works that are said to have influenced Tolkien’s work on The Hobbit is the Elder Edda from ancient Norse mythology. Tolkien got many of the names for his dwarf characters from the Poetic Edda, and he even named the mountain range over which the company had to cross to get to the dwarves’...

...The Hobbit Summaries: Chapter 1: In Chapter 1 of The Hobbit the characters are introduced and the story begins. Bilbo Baggins seems to be the main character, Bilbo is a hobbit who lives in a cozy, comfy hole like many other hobbits. Bilbo lives a quiet, peaceful life until a wizard named Gandalf and his dwarves come and tell Bilbo he is destined to join their journey. Bilbo doesn’t think he is cut out for this journey and neither do the dwarves, but Gandalf does. While Bilbo accompanies to the dwarves and Gandalf’s every need, they explain the journey. Thorin, who could be classified as the most important dwarf explains most of the journey. The journey is to reclaim the treasure that Thorin’s family once had but is now protected by Smaug an enormous dragon who stole it. Bilbo Baggins feels very uneasy about attending this journey and at the end of the chapter does not even know if he will participate. The setting of this chapter is “The Hill”, where many Hobbit holes are. Symbols used in this chapter were; the maps that the dwarves/Gandalf have symbolize direction of their journey. Also, some of the songs that the dwarves sing symbolize hints and feelings. A developing theme I see is “anyone can be a hero,” because I think Bilbo will end up going. Chapter 2: In the second chapter, the journey begins! Bilbo wakes up and assumes that Gandalf and the dwarves have left without him since none of them are present. Shortly after, Gandalf comes in and shows Bilbo a note that says...

How Does Bilbo Show Loyalty In The Hobbit

...It is what set the plot in motion. The dwarves’ ambition was to reach the lonely mountain, defeat Smaug and reclaim the treasure. They never lose their motive for the treasure. Bilbo had set his own aspiration. He wanted to prove to everybody that he was heroic. He wanted to feel imperative. Bilbo reached his goal because in The Hobbit, it claims “The dwarves looked at him with quite a new respect, when he talked about dodging guards, jumping over Gollum, and squeezing through, as if it was not very difficult or very alarming.” This was their reaction when they found out about how Bilbo escaped the cavern and Gollum. Bilbo may have told a few little white lies but everybody does that. In the end, he attains his quest and learns to become the heroic leader he yearned to...
