After watching the video from Chris Haskell-Blowing up the grade book I found myself agreeing and disagreeing with some of his points.

1. Homework- I agree with Mr. Haskell on this subject, my boyfriend has two old kids twelve and ten when they are at our house (every other week) homework is the first thing they have to do when they get home. I double check some of it and I am always getting updates from PowerSchool to let me know their progress. A lot of the times they have to make up homework that they didn't do at their other house so we are always playing catch up. I strongly agree when he says that homework is more to see which parents are involved with making sure its getting done. I think teachers should focus more on getting work done in class instead of making sure that they have something to do at home. In response to the speakers idea on changing the metrics of school- I agree with Mr. Haskell when it comes to homework, I do not feel that homework helps kids that much especially kids who do not have a parent at home that is willing to take the time to make sure that it is done and that it is done properly. I feel like teachers should actually start teaching again and being passionate about teaching. I also feel like teachers should use to technology to better the students not so that they can pass time, students should not be allowed to be on their phones texting during class. I still believe that we should have due dates it helps to make sure that kids are still truly trying to achieve something. At the end of the day having a child in the seventh grade, fifth grade and preschool one thing i feel strongly in is that something needs to change teachers are no longer passionate about what they do they are just going through the motions of their everyday
