...Bob Knight is one of the historic icons of Indiana Basketball. He is an absolute legend in the city of Bloomington. Now how awesome would it be if you had the opportunity to just hang out with him for a couple hours of so? Believe it or not, my Uncle Joe actually did. According to his story, it happend he was shooting his rifle at IU’s old rifle range below the union when Bob Knight randomly showed up in with his rifle in hand ready to shoot. Next thing you know, my uncle and Bob Knight were in the middle of a very intense shoot out. I am proud to say that was the day when my uncle Joe bested the legend himself, Bobby Knight. To this day my uncle says it was his most memorable moment of his entire shooting career. Unfortunately, IU ended up getting rid of that old rifle range and all the fun that came along with it. But now I believe that it is time for the city of Bloomington to resurrect an indoor shooting range. After talking with some of the members of Martinsville’s gun club, they said that the demand for an indoor shooting range is very high. An indoor shooting range will allow the committee to learn and become educated about guns, gun safety, and self-defense. According to findyourrange.org the nearest indoor rifle range to Bloomington is in Indianapolis. That’s entirely to far away. A shooting range would also provide people, especially college students, a temporary stress relief from school. Another reason why Bloomington needs a place like this is because...

The following is a dialogue between them.) Jack: Hello, is that you, Bob? Bob: Yes, it is. How are you doing? I hope it’s not too late to call you. Jack: Not a bit. I just had a bite to eat and was going to watch some TV, but I’m really glad you called. I really want to thank you for last night from the bottom of my heart. Man, had you not rescued me, I think I might have wound up spending the night in jail. Bob: Not a problem! I’m really glad everything worked out as it did. It could have gotten nasty. Jack: Yes, I had quite a bit to drink, but I was really behaving myself at the bar, when all of a sudden this guy elbows me, gives me a dirty look, and mutters something nasty in my ear. You know me—I don’t take rudeness lying down and in a blink of an eye we were both outside and he was picking a fight with me. You know the rest……. Bob: It’s a good thing you thought of calling me, for when I arrived on the scene you looked a sight—with a bloody nose and a black eye. It could have been worse…….. Jack: Thank you so much for arriving in the nick of time—that guy was threatening to call the cops…. as if I were at fault! Bob: It’s good that I was able to talk to him, mollify him, and get him to go home without calling the police, for you had both been violent with each other and you may have ended up spending...

...To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee is about siblings Scout and Lee who learn how bad racism is in the South and how whites treat African Americans. The story is being told from the older version of Scout as she reflects on her past. During this book, the author tries to shed light on racism in the South and how some people will stand up for blacks and help them. Robert Mulligan, the director of the movie version of this book, creates a good movie but adds and removes scenes and characters who he feels are not important. In the movie, the director omitted many minor characters that Harper Lee included in her book to show diversity in the characters. The absent characters are Link Deas, Dolphus Raymond, and Uncle Jack. The author inserts the...

...music has always been materialistic and subjective to drugs since it first became popular with the release of Sugarhill Gang’s song “Rapper’s Delight” in November of 1979. Big Bank Hank, just one of three members in Sugarhill Gang, made it very clear in Rapper’s Delight that he owned “a Lincoln continental and a sunroof Cadillac… and a color TV to watch the Knicks.” (Lyricsondemand.com) and that he was also “Feelin the highs.” (Lyricsondemand.com) Then another song released recently in 2013, named “Bugatti” by rapper Ace Hood, can easily be compared to the same idea behind the lyrics of Rapper’s Delight. After that, the most dreary “ghost of Christmas yet to come” appears to Scrooge. He shows Scrooge how Bob’s son death saddens everyone and leaves them feeling a sense of loss. He then shows him a rich dead man who nobody misses and some actually celebrate his death. The rich dead man’s home and corpse is robbed mercilessly. Scrooge later learns that this man is himself. ...although some views may be different than yours, these thoughts and opinions somehow coexist in the world we live in. In To Kill a Mockingbird, by Harper Lee, she explains just how the actions and the rivalries existed in the small county of Maycomb. The ideas of existence and representations of both good and evil grow up with Scout and Jem, making them recognize early on in their young lives that the world is never fully good or evil. Early on in the novel, good and/or good people are symbolized by mockingbirds. By telling of the innocence and the faultless qualities of the Mockingbird, that they “...don’t do one thing but make music for us to enjoy”, the author really appeals to the emotional side of the audience towards the goodness of the mockingbird (103). Potential to be good is shown several times throughout the book. A bit of sincere thoughtfulness is shown when “the men of Maycomb, in all degrees of dress and undress, took furniture from Miss Maudie's house to a yard across the street”, they became completely selfless when a friend needed help (78). Their conscience found a emotional side that connected with the good in the men....
