Assessment Tool 3 – Project 1
What I believe to be a good role model is someone who can be respected, show integrity, be able to prioritise, and be committed and dedicated to their role/position. I feel a good role model should have the desire to help others grow and to be supportive, have a positive attitude, are enthusiastic and involved, accept responsibility, understand themselves – personality style, characteristics, behaviours, learning preferences etc. I would follow my own beliefs and act as the role model I have described.
An effective leader can inspire action, be optimistic, have integrity - be honest, fair, candid and forthright, and treat everyone in the same way that they would want to be treated.
An effective leader would provide opportunity for communication between employees and managers and allow opportunity for new ideas and ways of improving in areas that may require more attention. I am confident that having the right role model prior to becoming a leader will help me develop these traits.
It is important to be kept up to date with the organisations goals and plans so I can ensure they are heading in the same direction. It helps to set work goals and work plans to ensure goals are met.
Firstly, know what my responsibilities are. Use regular feedback from others to see what areas need improvement and the areas where I am excelling.
In most of past work experiences the organisations used KPI's to measure and maintain my personal performance which would then be discussed at a performance review meeting held every 6 months. I feel it is necessary to still seek feedback from other staff who you work for, with, or under on a daily to weekly basis. This feedback is delivered faster and I am able to make any adjustments.
Prioritising is a very important key to managing a team or business. It is important to establish the urgency
