...Johnny Mccullor August 10, 2012 Bus 311 Research Correlational Research are used for various reasons such as researched in research experience. You may see the outcome of the research, but how can it be used? I believe the well known Stanford Prison Experiment, popular in Sociology can be used in the workplace, as far as stopping negativity or controlling it and seeing what it can do to the moral of staff. Body (3 paragraphs) The study I chose was the Stanford Prison Experiment, which is information that can be used in prisons to date to help manage the prison population for various reasons. The variables were the participants themselves. All of the same age, background, and education, but some were made prisoners and some guards. The variable is the role they played in the research experiment. The researchers were able to mentally manipulate the prisoners in to thinking the guards were bigger and stronger than they were, but they were in fact not. The overall experiment was to determine what the impact of prison life has on someone mentally and physically. I believe the warden or manager that is running the prison could use this data to begin the rehabilitation process immediately. In the study the mental breakdown began immediately. This would also be a tough sell; they did after all do something to get them there and were unable to be contributing citizens. Outside a prison you may use this at work and the two variables would be how do Help...

...Shayna Robledo October 9, 2012 Music 290 The Dirty Heads A few weekends ago, on September 28, 2012, I attended The Dirty Heads (TDH) concert. The concert took place at Senator Theater. The doors opened at 7:30 PM and the concert started at 8:30 PM. The Dirty Heads has a full band. This means that they had a percussionist (Jon Olazabal), a drummer (Matt Ochoa), a bassist (David Foral), a vocalist/guitarist (Dustin “Duddy B”) and a singer/song writer (Jared “Dirty J” Watson). The style of music that they play is reggae with a mix of hip hop, ska punk, and So Cal style. They were the main event but Pyrex and Ease Up also performed during the concert. During the concert, TDH performed a number of amazing songs. My favorite four that they played are as follows; 1. Cabin by The Sea: This was my most favorite song that they played. It is a very mellow and relaxed song. The song is all about having the time of your life by the sea. It’s about relaxing and being yourself around your friends. It’s about expressing yourself and completely being at peace. It paints a picture of a fun night at the beach with your friends and completely being happy. I love that it kept repeating, “Our friends are all around and the storm was an ocean, they say we look better in a black and white photo”. To me, this truly expresses that you don’t have to worry about your troubles at the moment, just take a step back to admire life and have fun and remember it. This song is all about...

...| Business Changes | Buss 311 Alex Hooley | sandra chapman 11-17-2014 | There are many liabilities to owning, manufacturing, selling and using fireworks. The potential personal liabilities for injury to consumers caused by fireworks can be devastating to those involved but taking precautions and having warning labels/notices can reduce these risks. Taking on larger business sales of fireworks should include changing from a sole proprietorship to a LLC. With this transition there would also be an increase in employees or independent contractors in order to manufacture more product for the high volume of orders. Creating a valid contract is most important to have before making any of these necessary changes to a business or else there would be a devastating effect on the manufacturing party. As the manager of Acme Fireworks I have decided to choose Common Law over the Uniform Commercial Code (UCC) because if any changes are made it will lead to the rejection of the initial offer rather than not having much of an impact like the UCC law would by treating it the same. The contract in Common Law would have to be modified with additional consideration in order to make any changes where the UCC it would not impact the original offer and if signed in writing it would not revoke that contract. The UCC is more interested in quantity and Common Law is interested in quality and quantity as well as the price and nature of the work. It is important in the fireworks business...

...Growing Acme Fireworks Derex. D. Moore Instructor Shawn Grimsley BUS 311: Business Law June 30, 2014 Growing Acme Fireworks There is much to consider when expanding a business. How will you make, market, and distribute your product. Are you willing to take full liability for your product and understanding the legalities of what happens if your product is defective? Once that has been established, it’s important to make sure that your business dealings are in order. The strength of the contract and what all it entails. Knowing that the legal document is important more so when things tend to go downhill. Above all is deciding which type of business entity the company will select especially if the company starts out small and looks to expand. Which entity will best serve the growth of the company such as Acme Fireworks? Some years ago I watched a movie called fight club. The movie dealt with a ton of social issues. One of the characters worked for a car company that would fly out their employers out to the areas where there were car accidents. They worked almost as an insurance adjuster that would come and appraise a vehicle once it has been in a wreck and determine, based on the damages how much they would award the car owner. However in the case here the employees would view accidents all over the country and decide if it would cost more to recall the product or pay the total fee for the said accident. If the cost was too much to do a recall then the company...

...BUS 311 (Business Law 1 - Ashford) Week 3 Assignment (Vonage Contract) Vonage Contract Vonage telephone service is notorious for continuing to debit consumers accounts after the customer has terminated the telephone service. I had Vonage for 2 years, from 2006 to 2008. My husband had orders to a different Air Force base and I knew that I didn’t want the telephone service at our new base. I called to cancel and I was ensured that everything would be taken care of, that there was nothing further that I needed to do. I would be enacting “termination by performance”. “Complete and satisfactory performance of the terms of a contract will bring about termination.” (Liuzzo, 2013) In order to have Vonage, you had to sign up for auto pay. This allowed the company to direct debit my account each month. After cancelling the phone service, a month goes by and I was billed again. I called the company and was told that it was a mistake and I would be refunded the amount I was incorrectly charged and would not receive any further charges. Also, they had no capability of direct depositing back into my account so it would be 6-8 weeks before I received a check in the mail refunding the money that I was overcharged....

...The two sections of date that I picked for this assignment is gender for the qualitative data and intrinsic for quantitative data. The data selected will be discussed and analysis until a conclusion is made. For qualitative data I picked gender. I put gender because I felt that is was the best option of the two. The gender I picked was female. I picked female because I’m female. The quantitative data I picked was Intrinsic. I picked intrinsic because Of what the definition said it was which was belonging naturally. A qualitative variable is a variable without a sense of order. A qualitative variable is measured on a nominal scale. A nominal scale is a scale with no order but has some numeric values are nominal. An example nominal scale would be the data showed on the excel sheet for this assignment where male and female are showed as, 1-male and 2-female. Quantitative variables are numerical. An example of quantitative variables would be the number of people in a town which is a measurable attribute. Population is a quantitative variable. An easy way to remember the two variables is when you think of qualitative variables think or something being categorical and when you think of quantitative think of numerical. Qualitative variable The data above use qualitative variable. As stated before a qualitative variable is measured on a nominal scale. A nominal scale is a scale with no order but has some numeric values. An example nominal scale would be the data showed...

The five elements included: she understood the offer, she knew the consideration, she had the intention to create a legal relationship, both met the capacity of the contract, and she gave an acceptance. Although she signed a rental agreement to live in a provided space, she had to deal with her job closing where she was previously working in the city she knew little about. Her reason for leaving was to find a job so eventually she had to leave the apartment and go back to her home...

...Final Paper Jason Rhone BUS311: Business Law I Professor Timory Naples 11 Aug 2014 Final Paper Acme Fireworks has came a long ways in the past 15 years and thus has accepted some changes that will be challenging. If the large orders do not continue, the company will not have the funds to pay the new employees. Acme Fireworks should expand to a larger business entity because expanding to a larger business entity will allow the company to negotiate larger contracts with other companies, and the company will never reach its full potential until it has expanded to a larger business entity. Consumers are commonly the victims of mishandled fireworks. There are various ways that fireworks can be mishandled, such as: lighting fireworks improperly, lighting fireworks too close to others, or lighting the fireworks while still holding them. Fireworks can have dangerous affects, whether handled properly or improperly. Fireworks are also capable of being manufactured improperly. Acme Fireworks seeks desperately for consumers to avoid risk while handling fireworks. There are warnings and directions attached to every firework package that is available for purchase. Acme Fireworks requests that all consumers to read the warnings and precautions before use. Never allow children to use fireworks without adult supervision. Only use fireworks outdoors, away from houses and fire hazards. Never try to reignite used or malfunctioning fireworks. Always keep a bucket of water nearby for...

...1.0 INTRODUCTION School bus has become an important facility in supporting parents at the grassroots in picking and dropping their children off at school. However, the challenges faced by Local Authorities (LA) in terms of demands and funding cannot be over emphasised. One of such LA faced with this dilemma is Middleton Local Education Authority (LEA) which has been chosen for the purpose of this study. In order to address this problem, a statement of the problem is defined with reference to the presenting issues. Secondly, the aims and objectives of this study is stated in an attempt to resolve the presenting issues. Thirdly, key definition of terms is addressed with reference to the school bus problem. Fourthly, a critical review of the literature whilst putting into perspective the methodologies adopted in research. Furthermore, findings from different approaches using computer programs to address the school bus problem are highlighted. In addition, a critical analysis of the school bus problem is attempted whilst putting into perspective transportation management systems, public policy and compliance, appreciation of public transport design and sustainable transport systems. An understanding and knowledge of UK based transport systems is demonstrated with an application to the case study problem. Lastly, limitations are acknowledged, recommendations and conclusions are drawn. Within this, future challenges relating to the school bus problem with reference to transportation...

...Acme Fireworks Outline I. Introduction A. Thesis Statement There are many benefits to having a sole proprietorship in the firework business, but if the sales decrease will the owner be able to maintain a fully functional business entity with the extra staff that were incurred due to the demand of more firework displays that were put into contract? The owner wants to know more and I will try and help him with his business through proposing a new business entity, different employment types and relationships relevant to law, the liability to Acme Fireworks if spectators are injured due to his displays, and the contract and whether it is enforceable under UCC. II. Body paragraph #1 - Topic Sentence # 1 As with all other business, Acme would be no different when coming into a problem with potential personnel liability. If a spectator is injured by a stray firework from one of their display stands do you think they would be responsible or would the blame fall on someone else? A. Supporting Evidence In a recent excerpt from Findlaw.com states, “Injured spectators may be able to hold the person or company setting off the fireworks liable through negligence”. B. Explanation Regardless of where the firework display stands are set up for these different business organizations, Acme Fireworks will ultimately still be responsible for injury if for instance a stray firework were to go off and hit a spectator...

...Waste Land" by Alan Paton Describe a surprising ending and analyse how it links to the rest of the text. “The Waste Land” by Alan Paton, is about a man who is on a bus. When he gets off the bus, he is attacked by several young men and it is suggested that the men want his purse which contained his wages. This short story has a surprising ending and it helps the reader understand other parts of the text that foreshadowed the ending. “The Waste Land” is very surprising as it ends with the man’s son having been killed in the incident. The short story ends with the narrator realizing that one of the men that have just attacked him was in fact his very own son and that he has just killed his son. When the gang dumps Freddy’s body under the lorry, where the man is, the man moved away from the body as if not wanting to accept his son’s death. The narrator displays the father’s shock and mental agony. This ending is linked to the title as “The Waste Land” suggests that the setting is very desolate, people are desperate and that the people will do anything to help themselves in their time of need even betray their own family. This is shown when the man says “People, arise! The world is dead.” This illustrates how the defender thinks that the world is corrupt. The attackers having waited for him by the bus stop shows that they knew that he would be there thus supports his son having a part in the gang. The ending is foreshadowed by the gang waiting for him to arrive, which shows...
