...Sikh Temple on 3/01/2015 & 3/08/2015 I had the privilege to visit the Sikh Temple twice on my occasion because of miscommunication, but I think it was worth it. I’m sad that I did not get to talk to anyone because I was afraid that I would disturb his or her worship time. As I arrived I saw the cultural attires for the women and the head coverings for the men and women. Before they entered the church, they removed their shoes and washed their hands before entering the temple. I was told by one of the girls that I should wash my hands if they are dirty and then enter the temple, which I did because sanitary wise they were dirty from the steering wheel and everything else that I touched that was not sterile. Something else that I witnessed that was interesting, was the man that stood in the middle waving (what looks like a bundle of strings) something in the air, which was to keep their sacred text from getting dirty. At least that is what it said on the module. I also saw that as they enter the temple, they walk directly down the aisle and they kneel down and bend over with their head touching the floor. I assumed that it was a sense of respect for God. I also saw that they ate some sort of pudding when they got back from doing their gestures in the front. I also examined that they sit on the floor and segregated by their sex, men on the left and women on the right side, and the children often sat with their mother. I...

...really important to one’s appearance, and dandruff is something that could immediately kill your good impression of others, which makes the hair look dirty and awful. So here by learning the features, causes, and treatment of dandruff, we are able to gain further insight into the issue, so that we can take better care of our hair. Well, at first, let me introduce what it is. Dandruff is the shedding of dead skin cells from the scalp(the skin on the head). As skin cells die, a small amount of flaking is normal. Some people, however, experience an unusually large amount of flaking either chronically or as a result of certain causes, which can also be accompanied by redness and pain in the skin. People who have bad dandruff may suffer an itchy scalp and flakiness. And it may also be accompanied by the symptoms of red and greasy patches of skin and feeling tingly on the skin. Dandruff is a common scalp disorder affecting almost half of the population at the post-pubertal age and of any gender and ethnicity. Sometimes dandruff may fluctuate with season and often worsens in winter. You can find that dandruff can be out of control under certain circumstances. Actually, the word dandruff is of Anglo-Saxon origin, a combination of 'tan' meaning 'skin disease', and 'drof' meaning 'dirty'. So does it mean that only the person with dirty hair may suffer from dandruff? Dandruff can have several causes, including dry skin, skin irritations, not cleaning often enough or shampooing too often...

...Short paper 1 Confronting the Complexity of Conversation I was up to my neck in my roommates dirty tissues, dirty dishes, and dirty habits. Her piles of trash and dirty clothing was weighing down on my last nerve. I sat her down and had just began to calmly explain to her that I simply cannot keep living in such horrid conditions when a large bellow escaped her mouth and quickly transformed into a demonic verbal attack as I was slain by her aggressive vocables and her, not surprisingly, dirty mouth. That was the last conversation we’ve ever had. According to Merrian-Webster, conversation is defined as an “oral exchange of sentiments, observations, opinions, or ideas.”(Merrian-Webster) Although this definition seems fairly simple, conversation itself is a complex practice that takes several factors into account, such as mode of communication, topic of conversation, the participants, etc. Therefore, conversation is a practice where it’s outcome is strictly dependent on the contributions put into it. Initially, the thought of conversation affects one at an pathos level. To me, it brings with it a heap of dreadful and apprehensive doom. Usually my breathing shortens and sharpens as an elephant of anxiety takes it’s seat on my chest. My palms moisten with sweat as memories of humiliation surface on the ocean of thoughts crashing around in my head. A dark shadow looms over my head, much like the cloud that once loomed over Eeyore the donkey, as my turn to speak approaches. And...

Trying not to make eye contact. The boat rocked and the boys sat planted, like a tree by a river. Their hands braised against the wood causing a familiar sensation. “What happened to the other two?”...

...the first time for the day is to greet them. I noticed that the way I and my male co workers greet each other is different than I or them greet female co workers. More often than not when I greet a male co worker I say something along the lines of “hey how’s it going” and shake their hands. When I greet a female coworker I usually say the same thing but the handshake is absent. Another difference between male/female nonverbal communication I’ve noticed is the “head nod” versus the smile. Usually when I pass a male coworker in the back room I give him a slight head nod to acknowledge them. The difference when I see a female coworker is instead of the head nod we usually just exchange a friendly smile. To me, the most interesting aspect of nonverbal communication is the negative communication. Over the years negative nonverbal communication has caused me a number of problems and I’m sure I’m not the only one. What I mean by negative nonverbal communication is the tone of your voice, rolling your eyes, giving dirty looks, etc.. I can’t even begin to count how many times I heard “it’s not what you said, it’s the...

...two things different. One thing that happened in the Book that did not happen in the play is when it described the garden house that Annie would take Helen. In the movie Annie finds this cabin when she was walking around the Keller property. She then brings up the idea to Helen's parents to let her go out there with Helen for alone learning time. When Annie first found the shack it was all dirty and full of cobwebs. Then in the book it described Annie finding the garden house and not explaining at all what is looked at on the inside. It describes cleaning the shack but not that is was extremely dirty. The book paints a picture in your head that the garden shack was not very dirty. That is one thing that happened in the book that did not really happen in the movie. Those are ways the book The Miracle Worker and the movie The Miracle Worker are the same yet very different. The dramatization of Kate was over the top in the movie but in the book she was not screaming and making loud noises in the book. Then the book described the book as being not very dirty but in the movie it was extremely dirty and untaken care of. Those are some examples of what happened in both the movie and the book and how they are different....

...down the Congo river to central Africa. The novel is based on a true story, of Joseph Conrad's actual journey up the Congo River in 1900. Marlow is Joseph Conrad’s alter ego. The novel had many themes such as; racism, loneliness, colonialism, good vs evil, power and many more. In this novel, Conrad uses imagery and symbolism to reveal the implication on the traits of different characters’ personalities. They represent main character traits. Main examples of imagery and symbolism in the novel occur when; Marlow meets the accountant for the first time. Marlow was amazed by how well dressed the accountant was. Imagery and symbolism also occur when Marlow looks through his binoculars to see the heads that were facing the station house which he had initially thought were just ornaments. The heads represent how kurtz is crazy and violent due to the graphicness of the heads. The imagery and symbolism in this novel describe the personality traits of the characters very well and helps the reader make better connections with the novel and helps them understand it better. When Marlow first met the chief accountant he was amazed. He was impressed with the way that the accountant looked. He seemed to be very surprised. “When near the buildings I met a white man, in such an unexpected elegance of get-up that in the first moment I took him for a sort of vision. I saw a high starched collar, white cuffs, a light alpaca jacket, snowy trousers, a clean necktie, and varnished boots. No hat. Hair...

...heroin cold turkey. He is sorely disappointed when his dealer does not give him heroin, but instead sells him opiate suppositories. As he is walking back home, the opiate suppositories have a severe laxative effect and Mark has to run into a public toilet, known as “the worst toilet in Scotland,” to relieve himself. The words “the worst……in Scotland” are non-diegetic; they are not originally on the door. He goes to the bathroom and does his business but then realizes the drugs he put in his rectum had not dissolved and are now in the toilet. His severe need for drugs is shown when he does not hesitate to reach into the toilet to retrieve the drugs, even though they were not the ones he wanted in the first place. He goes into the toilet head first and ends up in a place that seems like an ocean, where he finds the suppositories. He then swims to the surface and leaves the toilet soaking wet and returns home. Mark Renton gives a wonderful narrative about what he thinks he will be using will be like....

...Week 1 Assignment Hi Professor Beckett, This is the link to my website. Hope I did this right =) http://648913701206793004.weebly.com/ Trends/Issues-Head Start and Early Head Start were programs that were organized for low-income/poverty families. These programs are usually free to those families that qualify. Many times families run into hardships or even for our young teen moms want to finish school they now have an opportunity to receive free childcare while they get on their feet. These programs also offer other programs that help families in need such as free diapers, milk, clothing, and housing/shelter assistance. Project Head Start and Early Head Start has had a great impact on me because I have had the opportunity to work for both programs for 5 years. Many times the children I worked with came in hungry, tired, and sometimes dirty. Many of them came from dangerous living areas where they was a lot of drugs, shootings, and violence. So for me as a teacher a lot of times it forced me to put all my problems aside because I realized that each one of those children that were in my care needed my smile, hugs, love, and support | Theory/Learning Approach-The Montessori model would be the choice I would possibly use in the future when I open my own childcare center. The three things I would like to see in my Montessori classrooms is materials being displayed on shelves at the children’s level, my classroom being multi-aged, and the children’s choice on how they interact...

...The NHL, or the National Hockey League, needs to do something about preventing concussions so that the teams no longer have to suffer and make up for that lost player in their roster. Concussions are a change in mental status caused by trauma, and this occurs when the head hits or is hit by an object or it the brain is pushed against the skull with a strong force. Recently, several teams have lost some of their key players such as Sidney Crosby, Chris Pronger, and several other players to concussions. This has raised some questions about rule changes to help prevent the players from dishing out and receiving concussions. But, they are trying to take away the physical aspect of the game which is not the answer. The roughness and physicality...
