...I. BUSINESS IDEA GENERATION A. MACRO SCREENING On the environmental level is the Macro Screening. This is based on our compilations of businesses among each members of the group. On the variables we used, we have agreed and came up with the 3 Businesses which are the HOTEL AND RESTAURANT, FARM and BAKESHOP. There are several businesses which are just the same as the other members already have, so we thought to combine the others. We had chosen the three businesses based on our first activity we have done. The table below shows our Macro screening of the 3 business ideas we have chosen. The table shows a result that business no. 3 or the Bakeshop business has the highest total points which we had considered among the 5 criterions (Personal Preference, Education /Training, Work Experience, Business Contacts, Family Support). The total weights on choosing the main business to discuss as a group should be on 100%. The Bakeshop Business has a total of 81.25% compared to 66.50% for the Farm Business and 53% for the Hotel and Restaurant. Therefore, putting up a Bakeshop is what we preferred most when we considered the variables on the environmental level. Thus, the bakeshop business would be easier for us because we have enough measures needed in the said business. INTERPRETATION OF THE TABLE: The Macro screening table above shows criterion in choosing a particular business in the environmental level that contains 5 criterions. From the Macro screening we have done, we come...

In this regard the first step will be to do a SWOT analysis to find out my strengths and opportunities as well as to measure my threats. ...ABOUT FOREIGN DIRECT INVESTMENT Foreign direct investment (FDI) is a direct investment into production or business in a country by a company in another country, either by buying a company in the target country or by expanding operations of an existing business in that country. Foreign direct investment is in contrast to portfolio investment which is a passive investment in the securities of another country such as stocks and bonds. Foreign direct investment has many forms. Broadly, foreign direct investment includes "mergers and acquisitions, building new facilities, reinvesting profits earned from overseas operations and intra-company loans". In a narrow sense, foreign direct investment refers just to building new facilities. The numerical FDI figures based on varied definitions are not easily comparable. There are basically three types of FDI, these are: 1. Horizontal FDI arises when a firm duplicates its home country-based activities at the same value chain stage in a host country through FDI. 2. Platform FDI 3. Vertical FDI takes place when a firm through FDI moves upstream or downstream in different value chains i.e., when firms perform value-adding activities stage by stage in a vertical fashion in a host country. The foreign direct investor may acquire voting power of an enterprise in an economy through any of the following methods: * by incorporating a wholly owned subsidiary or company anywhere * by acquiring shares in an associated enterprise ...

...BUSINESS COMMUNICATION PRESENTATION WRITE-UP 1. Discussions within the group The points which were discussed with the class have been omitted from this section and have been included in the next section to avoid redundancy of the content. What B-Schools teach which they shouldn’t? The increasing levels of competition among the students leads to the creation of a Superiority complex among few individuals who tend to become dominating at times, which greatly hampers the group dynamics and morale of others. There is an overdose of curriculum within a stipulated time period hampering the understanding of the subjects. This necessitates the system to be more flexible in allowing the students to choose among the subjects as per their preference. Focus should be to understand whatever one studies rather than getting overburdened with more number of subjects. What B-Schools don’t teach which they should? Organizational Commitment: It is the individual's psychological attachment to the organization. The level of Organizational Commitment an individual has reflects in his job performance in the organization. B-schools today have become a means of getting a fat paycheck at the end of the two years without being able to foster a sense of belongingness towards the institute. It wouldn’t be surprising to know that many MBA students today would not be aware of their B-School’s Mission, Vision and Values. This needs to be given importance so that the student understands and reflects...

...had to interview a business personality. The theme of our assignment was ‘SUCCESS IN BUSINESS’. This was really an appealing challenge for me as I was introduced to this type of quality education for the first time in my life, and had to undergo a series of procedures which were advised by my lecturer. The lecturer divided the whole class in groups of four or five and wanted us to work on this assignment as a team, which was a great thought as we were entering the first phase of our professional life. All of my group members were new to each other, all with different mindsets, views, and lifestyles; the only thing that was common among us more or less was the education we had, the level of enthusiasm that we shared and the notes provided by the lecturer to help us accomplish our task. The first and the most important task that our group faced was to have a sober but an eye-catching name for our group so as to represent ourselves in front of the whole class, all of the group members came out with different ideas and wanted their pick to be the group name, being the team leader I was trying to brainstorm all of the incredible names that we had in our minds for the group, but soon their was a conflict arising because of the difference of opinions, at last we rationalized our options and hammered out in favour of ‘BUSINESS GIANTS’ as we all shared the inspiration of being giants in the business world. The next phase of my assignment was to select a business personality to interview...

...BMW’s leadership paradigm is organic with teams working collaboratively together among the different facets of the organization. BMW’s core values and vision to produce a premium brand automobile was a factor in this auto’s industry model. They faced competitive conditions in the auto industry such as over capacity, economic and market downturns, increasing competition from other makers such as Ford, Daimler-Chrysler and other major auto manufactures. Although BMW performed well during this period of competitive conditions, with production steadily increasing and commanding a premium price for their product, BMW reported a net loss in 1999. However, it was back making a profit in 2000. In 2001, BMW was able to increase retail sales by 10% in a stagnating world market. I believe, their customer service, environmental concerns; made to order, as well as their brand was and is a contributing factor to their success. Maintaining the brand at a premium level in every market sector from the mini to the Rolls-Royce makes them very consistent in the auto making industry and this is what consumers want to purchase. Due to the market downturn, consumers were purchasing less expensive automobiles such as cheaper brand names like Ford, Chevrolet, or overseas made auto’s such as Honda, Toyota or used verses new. For BMW to survive this economic downturn they needed to rely on their brand and produce a quality product for people to purchase. Helmut Panke the current CEO was trained...

...know that teens drink and most get away with it. We can’t fully enforce it so why not bring in out so that they don’t have to hide it. This would help the local business to gain more business form a one of the largest spenders in the nation which are teens. The issue of lowering the drinking age or even eliminating has always been there it has gone back and fourth for centuries. The two biggest issues are that should we lower it or should we raise it. There are both pros and cons to how we can look at it. From my point of view as an economist I think that we should lower. First point on why we should lower it that if we at age 18 are old enough to go to war and risk our life’s for this great country that they should allow us to drink. I know that this is has nothing to do with economics but this is a big reason and should not be left out. The next reason is that if we lower the drinking age the will bring a new market out. This market is that if teens drinking. The market right now that is out there for teen spending is huge and every one is trying to get into it. See in order for most business to survive they need to expend past their targeted customer in this they can compete and survive. This will also bring in new business like a drink for teen which is less alcoholic than the regular ones. For local business they would not mind having a lower drinking age because if they serve alcohol they will make more money and they would support lowering the drinking age. ...

...Organizational Behavior (Formative Assessment) (Gaurav Jain - C1259866) Master Of Business Administration teaches students how to become successful, how to work in groups and adjust in the surroundings those are created internally as well as externally. Poster presentation, being the first MBA project, has posed many challenges for our group due to cultural and thinking difference. “Human beings, and only human beings, are biologically adapted for participating in collaborative activities involving shared goals and socially coordinated action plans”(Tomasello, Carpenter, Call, Behne, & Moll, 2005, 676). After forming group, the next challenge to us was selecting an underperforming company. Taking into account the economic crisis, people were affected the most. And retail is a segment, which is very close to the people. Each member of our group was interested in electronic retail segment. This initial motivation for our poster was intrinsic motivation. Although marks and ranking (Extrinsic Motivation) were the factors that motivated us but our initial motivator was our interest. Once we started the work on our presentation, it was the Content approach that motivated us the most throughout the work. As Maslow said that human needs motivates him towards a goal and helps him pursuing the goal, we evident it while working on our presentation. The five basic human needs, as mentioned by Maslow, are physiological, safety, love/belonging, self-esteem and self-actualization. Working...
