In order to complete the upgrade of the software, newly developed by the I.T department Riordan will ensure that management receives training on the new platform prior to the installation. The I.T department has been granted a total of $150,000 to fund the development and implementation of this new system in total. The majority of this will go toward the development of the software, and troubleshooting the software through its final stages of implementation. $20,000 of the budget will be utilized to train facility managers with hands on training at a central location, and to provide documentation for further training to be completed by all other associates at their facilities under the supervision of their trained managers. Current hardware will remain in place for the upgrade, and will not need to be altered in order to run the program. This allows Riordan to simultaneously run both the old and new software for a limited time as associates become more familiar with the new system. The ability to utilize the old system in part is to maintain consumer satisfaction. In order to accomplish the switch to the new system managers must attend the central training, and be able to transfer their training to their employees within a four week time constraint. The time constraint is in place to motivate managers and associates to move into the new system so that the old program can be phased out.

Our analysis of these departmental systems and sub-systems will show those areas that are working in a positive matter and the areas that are in need of some process improvement and will discuss the risks and positives associated with them. Riordan’s current management team is made up of several key support system areas with the primary responsibility of gathering data for company day to day functions. These key support systems are as follows: accounting, receiving clerk, area supervisor, inventory clerk and lastly sales department. Business and Technical Requirements

...Business and Technical Requirements of the Security Awareness Program Many years ago, I was enlisted to take part in a total migration within the Department of Justice. The Department of Justice had a need for upgrading their network infrastructure because various departments used unsecure means for discussing secure topics. I also had the opportunity to work with an outstanding Project Manager with more than 20 years’ experience, and under his wing I learned early on about “keeping the stakeholders informed.” One of the initial tasks were to understand the needs of the stakeholder and collect data from during the one-on-one meetings. “One way to keep stakeholders focused is by prioritizing requirements with the constraints of time, quality, and budget” (Gale, 2013, p. 48). Therefore, developing and defining the mission of the project had to be established, so all concerned parties (stakeholders) are informed and answered all questions thoroughly. “Stakeholder interviews help get personal, in-depth analysis about requirements” (Gale, 2013, p. 48). After careful review of the stakeholder requirements for the new technological upgrades, the big concern was security on all levels to overcome as the weekly reading discussed security fatigue and avenues not to follow. For example, the first step is to keep management abreast of any changes, and second don’t cry wolf. “Thirdly, it helps to place a realistic quantification on your projections” (Lacey, 2009, p. 256). Training was...

Business Requirement Document

...IS 390 Group Project Milestone Two Due: Oct. 29th In this milestone, you are to deliver a document called BRD (Business Requirement Document). Although difference formats exist for BRD, the one you are required to present is popularly used in current IS practice. It serves as a “contract” between you and your client on the scope, schedule & expected outcome of your project. A BRD contains seven sections. I. Version Control Since a BRD might go through several rounds of revision (iterative process, remember?), this first section is simply used to keep track of the project history. A. Revision history: Simply a table with the following columns: Version# (0.1, 0.2…), Date of revision, Responsibility (Author), Description. I assume that you will have only one version given the short time available, which is fine. B. RACI chart RACI chart is used in organizational design to make assignments and designate levels of involvement and responsibility. In a system project, it lists the roles played by each of the team members during each developmental stage. To develop a RACI chart, first identify tasks involved in this stage. Your tasks should include at least the following: 1. Correspondence with the client: meeting setup and follow-up. 2. Preparation for the interview: design of interview questions and flow 3. Leading interviewer(s): the ones who ask the majority of the questions 4. Interview notes-takers: team members who...

...Business Communication Trends Crystal Schultz XCOM/285 December 7, 2014 Janet Waldron Companies are changing everyday due to business trends. There are currently ten business trends. These range from technology to balancing work and families. The main priority for any company is to grow and gain strength. This is done by providing both employees and customers what is needed to be successful. Most employees have families so they need job flexibility. There are now regulations that need to be met concerning diversity in the work place. Then there are the things that are required of employees. The ability to work in a team environment is one of those requirements. Most companies are following one of these trends. Technology plays a huge role in my daily business communication. I am required to contact clients by phone and email every day. There is often times that require that I call for a follow up and then have to e-mails that were lost or misunderstood. Before the technology advancements I would have to write purchase orders and invoices to mail the customer or client. It took longer to receive payment and when there was a problem it took double the time. I am now able to call to ensure the customer received the products and allow them to submit a payment. This also allows the time to do extra work daily. When I get to the office in the morning I will respond to any e-mails we received then move on to sending out new invoices that are due payment.
