...potential to be the most successful way to create a 'buzz'. According to the article The Buzz on Buzz, written by Renee Dye, there are five common myths that companies can accept as facts that can result in them being unable to generate word-of-mouth promotion. The first myth stated by Dye is that in order to generate a 'buzz', a specific product must be unusual or risky. However, there are many different products on the market that have created the majority of their promotion through word-of-mouth that are ordinary. When companies use strategic marketing they have the ability to turn those normal, everyday products into extraordinary ones. For example, theChive, a webpage and application dedicated to giving to charities and providing its users(Chivers and Chivettes) with daily, categorized photo albums featuring everything from cats to people doing kind things for others anonymously, was not really the first of it's kind on the market. However, theChive, cultivated it's own brand and did not participate in advertising other than through its loyal followers. The next myth that companies could fall victim too is that 'buzz' just happens. theChive grew the majority of it's 'buzz' through carefully designed products and originally targeted a market that was made up of young men, which later broadened into marketing to women. One of the most influential elements that allowed theChive to generate such a contagious 'buzz' is the fact that the website mainly features pictures...

...n her own world with no space, she thought, “Who is she to say such things? She, my own mother doesn’t even know me well. She doesn’t know I have no friends. She doesn’t know who I am or how I act in school. She only assumes and thinks that her assumptions are always right.” For a daughter, her mother should and must not be questioned, therefore, everything was kept to herself. There was no one who she can share her feelings with. Slowly, everything she kept build up and became something she can’t avoid- hatred. She need not be compared to her all-rounder brother. She need not be someone worthy only of her father’s love. Yet, it happened. Life was unfair but she still accepted it with an open mind with doubts if she should do so. When she reached the tuition centre situated on the third floor, she straight away went to the back of the building instead into her class. She could not face her friends. Ever so many times, she thought of running away. All sorts of feeling she experienced and then, she thought of SUICIDE. After all, she was standing at a high-rise building where she could see a part of the city she lived in for the past four years. Confused, she was. Yet, it was already decided. She climbed over the bars. She braced herself and gathered all the courage she had. She let go of the bars a finger at a time and let herself fall with her eyes shut. The wind caressed her pale face, running through her hair. “Thump!” and that was all that was heard. Perhaps someone...

...Words Sitting alone on a West Midlands train, I buried my face in my hands wondering what on earth I should do. “I can’t do this,” I told myself. I’d just spent the day calling international schools in Europe trying to sell them an education package for a friend’s business. I think telesales is one of the most soul sucking activities in the entire business world! “I can’t make money for other people for the rest of my life,” I said. “I won’t.” It was the summer of 2005, and it was my seventh day back on British soil after serving an 18-month mission for the LDS church in the US. I graduated with a degree in international business management before my mission, but now the prospect of pushing paper for a career, like all the other business minions, was not appealing. Like the sunny countryside whizzing by, my own train of though was working its way through hills and valleys of possibility. By the time I stepped of that train in my hometown, I had decided to go back to school and leave the country. Speech-language pathology was my ticket out of town. Five months later I had a confirmation of my choice. Without ever asking for it, I received a brochure in the mail from a college in Boston about my chosen program. As I pored over the booklet, one sentence, one word reverberated from the page: “Emerson college desires compassionate students.” Compassion. One word, seven sounds, was reason enough for me to pack up my life, sell everything that didn’t fit in my black...

The metal fixtures in some binders are not quite smooth and do not function well. The metal can scratch my fingers and nails when I insert or take out paper from binders. 3. The pigment of highlighters cannot become dry quickly on my textbook paper. My hands and sleeve cuff will be colored then. 4. When I call customer service for my bank account and phone bill, I cannot reach the operator or customer representatives directly. I have to go through several steps to finally reach the operator choice. Sometimes, the instruction of the automated voice is unclear. It is not unusual for me to wrongly go back to the initial menu and to restart different options to reach the customer representatives. 5. In many restaurants, tables are assigned with specific waiters and waitresses. I had the experiences that my friends and I kept looking around to look for my waiters to get ordered, to get silver, or to pay bill, which can seriously affect my mood to enjoy food. 6. His first name was actually not originally Buzz, it was Edwin Eugene. When he was a kid, the youngest of his two big sisters said “Buzzer” instead of “brother”. ...The Buzz is Back The Charlotte Bobcats: (Re) Launching a New (Old) NBA Franchise Article Analysis by Rosbie Mutcherson Jr. Business 505 Creating Consumer Value March 4, 2015 After reading Charlotte Bobcats: (Re) Launching a New (Old) NBA Franchise, I think of the Charlotte Hornets like a bad junior high breakup. We have all been there I am sure. Plenty of infatuation, fighting, scandal, embarrassment, pouting, and happiness are a few things that come to my mind. “The Charlotte Bobcats: (Re) Launching a New (Old) NBA Franchise written by D. Branch Jr. looked in the Charlotte NBA franchise from its inception to now. The city of Charlotte for years backed their basketball team through the bad and certainly the good times. The team enjoyed an NBA record for attendance for ten plus years at a time. Fans continued to buy tickets despite not always producing competitive teams. It seemed to not matter whether the Hornets were winning fans would still pack the arena. After years of success there came a point when the organization reached a crossroads. Trades, ownership issues, and scandal all played parts in Charlotte’s fall from the top of the league in fan support to the very bottom. A once vibrant city with a new NBA franchise quickly turned into a black hole for an potential NBA owners. Hornet ownership would eventually flee to New Orleans. Within a few years change it all its glory was revealed. Robert Johnson brought a new face, arena, and name change to the city of Charlotte...

...Disney Movies are more than entertainment; they are a piece of pop culture that generations of children will remember forever. It all started in 1937 when Disney released its first feature length film, Snow White. To date, Disney has released more than 300 films. Each generation will have its own memory of their favorite Disney movies. For instance, any child born in the last 15 years will remember Toy Story. It was released in 1995 and followed by Toy Story 2 and Toy Story 3. Disney really made an impact on kids with Toy Story. It was a wonderful story about a boy and the friendship between his two toys, a lovable, stuffed cowboy named Woody (voice by Tom Hanks), and an astronaut toy named Buzz Light-year (voice by Tim Allen). Today, Toy Story and the characters are a big part of Disneyland Amusement Parks. There are Toy Story rides that excite kids of all ages. It seems with every Disney movie launch there are mass toy sales and fast food restaurants selling “Happy Meals’ with Disney movie character toys. It is almost impossible to avoid the media and advertising explosion after a Disney movie release. What is nice about Disney movies is that parents can feel good about their kids watching them because Disney represents “wholesome.” A parent can be assured that the content of the movie will be age appropriate for their child. Disney movies are an icon in American pop culture. What Disney movie do you remember the...
