...close second is food, and that’s right, what men think about most on a day to day basis is women. Now, seeing how important the opposite sex is to men, I am going to break down the confusing opposite gender formerly known as females. First, there is the debate on whether nice guys truly do finish last. Along with that, there is the much talked about differences between blondes and brunettes. And lastly, I will share some tips on how to get a woman interested in you. Now, do nice guys truly finish last? I have heard both sides to this story. I would be lying if I said that I am not of the fence about this subject. Just like men, women love a challenge. So it isn’t whether nice guys finish last or not, but rather I think that women get bored. If you are the type to constantly be nice or a pushover, without creating any true excitement (which usually will put a huge dent in your wallet) sometimes being a little edgy or unpredictable will be beneficial to you. By no means am I saying to be a jerk or scumbag, because then you will get the easily get the ax. There is also a fine line between being a nice guy and automatically getting yourself “friend-zoned.” Once you get friend-zoned, there is no going back. This might be one of the worst things a guy can hear from the girl of their wanting. ………………. Blondes and brunettes. The debate has been going on for centuries and I’m sure it will go on for centuries to come. From my experience, I think it is safe to say that for the most part...

...Book Review: Nice Guys Can Get the Corner Office What is this book about? In the book Nice Guy Can Get the Corner Office, the author challenged the adage “Nice guys finish last.” He believed that a guy can be nice and successful at business at the same time. The subtitle would tell us better about what’s in this book: "Eight Strategies for Winning in Business without Being a Jerk." The author defines “nice” as a constructive and consciously chosen approach to relationships that is founded on: * Attempting to optimize outcomes for both others and ourselves * Striving to balance assertiveness with cooperation to achieve a spirit of collaboration * Honoring the value and strength of others and ourselves * Seeking optimal outcomes for everyone involved by emphasizing truthfulness and authenticity * Opening confronting challenges and disagreements and embracing the innovation-promoting benefits of constructive idea conflict The author also defines “success in business” as need are fulfilled—individual’s need as well as the needs of others. The authors surveyed more than 350 nice guys and found out that most of them are “too nice”. And these overly nice guys are always struggling between “eager to please others” (being too nice) and “fulfill their own needs (being successful in business).” This book gives eight strategies to help those overly nice guys balance being nice and being a jerk when achieving success. These eight strategies consists of eight rights...

...The Power of a Myth Jim Beam HU300-22 The Power of a Myth Do myths impact the reality of today’s society? Mary Pipher states (2005) “America is poisoning girls with pressures to maintain difficult standards of beauty”. This “standard” of beauty was set by people like the “Goddess of Love”. This Greek Goddess was known as Aphrodite. Aphrodite did not have to worry about felling lonely or ugly as she was the lust of all the Greek Gods. And being lonely she was not, even as her husband was away at work. Whether we know it or not, we keep creating and perpetuating myths (Janaro & Altshuler, 2012). Aphrodite, also known as the Goddess of Sexuality, was the Daughter of Zeus and Dione. It was stated that Zeus gave his daughter to Hephaistos, God of Fire, in gratitude for service he had rendered in fording thunderbolts (Holme, B. & Campbell, J., 1979). Hephaistos was the son of Zeus and Hera. The God of Fire was born deformed and was the most un-liked by the gods. As a black smith, he was well-known for his forging abilities. In the afternoons while Hephaistos was hard at work, Ares would show up at his house. Aphrodite would leave the door open for Ares as they would join each other in the bed of Hephaistos, which the black smith had built himself. This love affair went on for quite some time; however, it did not go unobserved. Helios, God of the Sun, was watching the shameless comings and goings until he could watch no more (Richardson, 1984). Helios went to all...

...legs. Her mind was also wondering about elsewhere. “Okay,” said Emma, “let’s have a look at the rest of you.” Tracey glanced up at the ceiling as Carl stripped, trying to give him at least some illusion of privacy. She heard the boxers sliding down and was aware of movement as he stepped out of them. “And give us a good stretch, as though you’ve just woken up.” instructed Emma. Tracey took in the full extent of Carl’s gorgeous body as he stretched his arms above his head, elongating his physique. He looked wonderful, and soft skinned, and fluffy chested. She looked down at his penis. It protruded from neatly trimmed pubic hair and dangled softly between his legs, over cute balls. It was smaller than the other guys were, but not disappointing. It was lovely, a nice toy to play with, as cute as he was, the end neatly covered by his foreskin. It also had another great appeal --- it was Carl’s penis. That single fact made it extra special. Something else struck her ; she did not sense any feeling of shyness from him. Here he was stark naked, full frontal and yet he seemed totally at ease, relaxed even. The same thought must have crossed Emma’s...

She does her gardening work with ease and eagerness. She's a strong lady, and she has got planter's hands, whatever that means. Her husband returns from his successful business deal, and he wants to go into town to celebrate. They plan to finish their work for the day and head into Salinas for dinner. With Henry off working, Elisa returns to her chrysanthemums. Enter intrigue. She's interrupted by the arrival of a stranger – a man who fixes pots and pans. He drives up to the house on a ramshackle wagon and asks Elisa for directions and work. Elisa and the man have quite the conversation, and Elisa seems to develop a connection with the stranger (see what we mean about intrigue?). This connection culminates when she passionately tells the man about her chrysanthemums, and gives him some sprouts. Overcome with emotion, she almost reaches out to touch the man, who soon takes off, leaving Elisa all alone and flustered. When he leaves, she returns to the house and bathes and gets dolled up for date night with her hubby. He arrives home and gets ready, too. As they head for town, she sees the chrysanthemum sprouts she had given the man lying by the side of the road. Soon after, Elisa and Henry's car passes the wagon and the man. After discussing their evening out a bit more, Elisa...

...Analysis is just one of the ingredients in the recipe. You may have the best analysis in the room. However, if your analysis is not heard and taken seriously, it is of no value. Too often, talented people with the best answers sit in the back of the room while hacks run the show. If you enjoy the view from the back, getting an MBA will not change anything. A MBA degree only works if you are willing to transform yourself. Are you? 2 Einstein would have been a terrible manager. There is a huge misconception among students that being smart is the way to be successful. Let me break this to you. It is not about being smart. There are many smart people who are absolutely incompetent managers. Not to mention the fact that many smart people are first-rate jerks. Don’t get me wrong. I am not saying you have to be dumb to succeed. What I am saying is that you do not have to be a Mensan to make it to the top. All you need is average intelligence. But, you need other qualities. 3 Bill Clinton would have been an excellent manager. The man had his faults. But, he could communicate like few others. Bad managers are, frequently, terrible communicators. They have good ideas. They simply don’t know how to get them across. You cannot lead, motivate or sell if you cannot communicate. If there is one thing you want to do when you are in school, learn to communicate. 4 Don’t Lose Touch With What is Right. Do not use analysis to justify what you know to be wrong. Frequently, the wrong path comes...

...effected. Could it be that advertising shapes our desire for a more creative lifestyle like those portrayed in ads? In Advertising as Art Michael Schudson questions whether advertising consciously gets people to have faith and buy the advertised product, or subconsciously works when attitudes and assumptions implied in advertising become real to the people surrounded by ads. Today’s advertisements don’t ask to be taken literally, yet marketers have to be careful to not be misleading when targeting a certain group of audience. For instance, in a Bergdorf Goodman magazine ad a male model is wearing a blue suit with a small smirk on his face. Bold-white font writing brings the viewer’s attention to the phrase “A Goodman finishes first.” Everything in this ad seems it can be true to those who wear suits. The ad successfully targets middle class or white-collar men who seek fulfillment in their lives. The phrase from the ad is trying to prompt the audience to believe that they will get what they desire, whether it’s girls, a raise, or attractiveness, by wearing the suit. The male model looks confident standing in an upright position with one hand in his pocket and the other hand by his side. A description is on the bottom of the ad that describes that the model is a political affairs officer. The ad’s assumes that successful and good-looking men shop at Goodman’s Men’s Store. This assumption will make men more inclined to buy a suit if they happen to land an interview for their dream...

...Jersey Shore Critical Analysis I chose to do Jersey Shore for my Critical Analysis, not because it is my favourite show, but there is a lot of stereotype, and scripted events that relate to the younger viewers. This includes the commercials, and some of the things these characters are involved in. This Critical Analysis will break down this Television series, and will discuss what the characters do to create the image they are trying to achieve when airing this show. Will also discuss the ethical implications this series can have on the public, and how we behave because of this. In terms of gender, this show makes a clear difference in the actions between the men and the women. The men are often in the gym, or getting their haircut together, whereas the women go to the salon together, go to the beach, and there is a clear difference between what they do together. There are now a lot of relationships in the house, and this makes the way each gender acts extremely different. The male is often more dominant in the relationship, and the women seem to be more fragile. This was shown when Jenni was mad at her boyfriend Roger for ignoring her calls, but as soon as she confronted him, he took control of the conversation and immediately put his dominance across. There are many times in the show where they show that the women do have some sort of control or equality in the house, when they often show Mike doing the cooking, and the men cleaning. This could be to show that the women do...

Then the sergeant and some trainees took hold of my teacher so he couldn’t hurt me and then I reached the end of the obstacle swung on the rope flinging myself back to the beginning of the course where my teacher was being held. I panted a bit but then it stopped and I blacked out. I woke up in the hospital with my dad sleeping in a chair and to my surprise the sergeant that helped save me. “Morning sunshine.” He told me which was a shock cause I thought these guys were hard core. Apparently not all, but dad was asleep so he was the only one I could talk to. “How…how long was I asleep?” He managed a laugh. “About two days. Jeez you are no different from my soldiers the first thing they ask when they get up from a fight or something the first thing they ask is “”How long was I out?” Hahaha.” “EEHH?! Really?!” “Yup the only thing different between you and them are your speed and how easily you passed the course within a minuet and three seconds. Amazing girl.” Then we heard a groan from the other side of my bed. “DADDY!” I said happily. “Morning Mr. Night.” Dad was startled for a minuet then said. “Well good morning to you too, and how is my baby?” “Fine...
