...going to be an eye opener. I was going to discover bigger things and seek out how a small beverage went from a simple thirst quencher to a historical museum for the entertainment for people of all ages. My thoughts were interrupted when my mom honked the horn at a little kid who ran in the middle of the road, that’s when I realized we were there. Once we got to the bus loading area, there was an overwhelming number of excited children and tired parents. We were already assigned to pre-created groups, that was created the day before, my mother was the chaperone of my group. We all got to sign up with the people we wanted to be with, I chose the girls that were my best friends at the time. Once all the students arrived we were able to load the bus, which to my excitement had TV’s at every other sit, so I sat at the one with the TV right above our heads. They were playing Megamind the animation, which also at the time was my favorite movie, very funny. By the time we pulled off it was around 7:45ish and it was still dark. My mother wasn’t too happy that I chose the sit with the TV right above our heads, since she was trying to get some rest to prepare for a long day chaperoning 5 teenage girls. The movie was so loud, every time she dozed off she was awakened by loud crashes, booms, screams or laugher of the kids around us. I could see her frustration in my peripheral, but I didn't turn to look at her completely I didn’t want that stare, the “why would you pick a sit with a TV right...

...This semester must come to an end. This was one the most breathtaking courses that I have taking Kaplan University. I have had the chance to voluntary at Kent County Juvenile Community Service Department. I am going to share with you in this paper what I have learned about the program, describe how it is ran, tell the roles I played, and also give a piece of my mind on the experience that I encounter during my voluntary work. Explanation of the agency’s function After the passing of the passing of the 1996 Public Act 388 the Family Division of the Circuit Court was created. According to the Kent County site under Family Division the legislation required that by July 1, 1997 the probate courts and the circuit courts come to an agreement on how they were going to run the Family Division Courts. The probate courts, circuit court judges, and many more people came up with a great plan because the Supreme Court approved the plan. Michigan has Family Court in each circuit court that hears the cases dealing with every aspect of family law. Judges in the Family Court Division hear case about divorce, which parent get custody of the child(ren), who going to support the child or alimony, and even children who want to get emancipated from their guardian. The Family Court Division also hears cases about children being abused, neglected, and so many more. Michigan Family Courts do not just deal with the things I mention above. This court deals with matters of kids...

...The Symbolism of the Journey ENG 125 Introduction to Literature According to Ralph Waldo Emerson, “Life is a journey, not a destination.” The journey is a central focus of Robert Frost’s “The Path Not Taken” and Jean Rhys’s “I Used to Live Here Once,” although the destination is also an important part of the latter. While both stories have similar themes, they have different points of view; both show that life can change during the journey. In addition, both stories illustrate that things aren’t always as they seem. This paper will compare and contrast the two stories and how despite the different viewpoints, there is one thing in common; regardless of the journey a person takes, there are many obstacles and hurdles. Frost’s “The Road Not Taken” has been often interpreted with different meanings but is one of the most quoted poems of all time. Many interpretations of the poem believe it encourages individualism and self-reliance. There are others that believe it is not what the author intended. Upon closer examination we can determine that Frost’s intended message is that life choices are inevitable, a natural part of the life process, and that we cannot know whether the decision was the right one until we are in the future looking back at that particular moment in time, nor can we ever know what choosing the other path would have meant for our future. As the poem goes on, we see the author lamenting over his choices at the beginning of the final stanza: “I shall...

...appreciated. That was actually an incentive for me to run towards my dream further. I realized the importance of the activity. It had a great impact on me. Similarly, Ravi pointed out my negatives as well. These things helped me in understanding the perception of my peers about me. The purpose of GPO starts from here. After learning about motivation, perception, attitude, emotions etc in Individual Dynamics, we also need to learn how people behave in groups like how people communicate, how people conform to others in groups, conflicts etc. A recap of important concepts from Individual Dynamics is also note worthy. Session 2: (21/01/2014) The highlight of this session was THE LEMON ACTIVITY, to name it. I was surprised (as everyone in the class) when ma’am took out some lemon from her bag. A group of students were called to the front of the class and each of them were given a lemon. After sometime they were asked to describe their lemon in their own way. We had awesome responses ranging from describing the lemon as a fun bomb to personalizing it a beautiful girl. Finally, the lemons were mixed together and the team was asked to identify each one’s lemon. Here comes the...

...Preface Every language allows different kinds of variations: geographical or territorial, perhaps the most obvious, stylistic, the difference between the written and the spoken form of the standard national language and others. It is the national language of England proper, the USA, Australia, New Zealand and some provinces of Canada. It is the official language of Wales, Scotland, in Gibraltar and on the island of Malta. Modern linguistics distinguishes territorial variants of a national language and local dialects. Variants of a language are regional varieties of a standard literary language characterized by some minor peculiarities in the sound system, vocabulary and grammar and by their own literary norms. Standard English – the official language of Great Britain taught at schools and universities, used by the press, the radio and the television and spoken by educated people may be defined as that form of English which is current and literary, substantially uniform and recognized as acceptable wherever English is spoken or understood. Its vocabulary is contrasted to dialect words or dialectisms belonging to various local dialects. Local dialects are varieties of the English language peculiar to some districts and having no normalized literary form. Regional varieties possessing a literary form are called variants. Dialects are said to undergo rapid changes under the pressure of Standard English taught at schools and the speech habits cultivated by radio, television...

...The Simple Plan Run Smart, and Slim Down Eat Right, The Simple Plan From the editors of r 1 The Simple Plan Your Personal Calorie number Before you start figuring how you’re going to create a calorie deficit, you need to know how many calories your body requires to maintain the weight you are now. That calorie number is unique to you. It depends on many things—your size, your gender, your age, and how active you are. Roughly speaking, the more active you are and the younger you are, the more calories it takes to maintain your current weight. Bigger folks need more calories to fuel them; as they start to lose pounds, they’ll require fewer. Just go to www.runnersworld.com/ rybo and go to the basal metabolic rate (BMR) calculator, where you can enter your numbers. This tool measures how many calories you need each day to maintain your current weight if you’re sitting around doing absolutely nothing—and how many you need if you’re more active. Once you know how many calories you need to maintain your weight, you can make some well-informed decisions about the food you’re consuming and your exercise. You can eat less or move more to get the scale to move, too. n Calorie Math: A Quick Review Let’s strip this idea down to the simplest possible terms. Your body burns calories every day. If you eat more calories than your body burns, those calories are stored on the body as fat. If you eat fewer calories than your body burns, you lose fat. In other words, a calorie...

...________________________________________________________________________________________ Chicken of the Sea International The Jessica Simpson Spokesperson Decision [pic] _______________________________________________________________________________________ This case was written by Professor George E. Belch and Michael A. Belch. It is intended to be used as the basis for class discussion rather than to illustrate either effective or ineffective handling of a management situation. Introduction Chicken of the Sea International (COSI) is one of the oldest seafood companies in the United States. The company processes and markets a variety of seafood items under the Chicken of the Sea brand name including canned tuna, salmon, sardines, mackerel, crab, and clam products. The original company was founded in 1914 by Frank Van Camp and his son who bought the California Tuna Canning Company to can albacore tuna and changed the name to the Van Camp Seafood Company. However, the company began using the Chicken of the Sea trademark and brand name as a way to describe the taste of its tuna to consumers. Van Camp was the first company to can "light" tuna. So consumers would know to expect a mild-flavored white fish – that tasted similar to chicken – the company marketed it under the brand name Chicken of the Sea. It was such a success that the company eventually adopted the product name. The company operated under the Van Camp Seafood...
