...Career Exploration Reflection Paper Monica Jimenez BCOM/275 July 15, 2015 Prof: Richard Dunn Based on what I know from my Career Exploration paper, although I was not so much interest with business, my career were must of them based on business and management offices. I has so much relative to this class because it shows you how to act in front of you co-workers and to approach different types of situation in the work setting. This course show so many stuff about communication that I did not expect could influences so much in my career and also learning to keep away some problem by not using the right word or the right posture, even by making facial expression you might offense someone and brings so many problem to the table. So I realize to keep a flow mood we have to keep some manners at home and try not be so social or silly at work to avoid some misunderstanding. However, we cannot ever be like robots, trying not to express anything, we have to keep a pleasure posture for ourselves in which we think we are not offending anyone. Being at work is just a places where we have to take in consideration everyone around and keep anything that could be annoyed for others to ourselves. Like being in a theater, we have to be quite and relax, so we do not bother anyone. My career is all based on that, must of the thing that I learned from this course I know I am going to implement at my job....

...although it is great that it provides a lot of data, too much data can also be overwhelming. Thus, the person creating a job description should take the data and analyze it in order to create a job description tailored to a specific company context because the data is too generic. Aside for being a tool for gathering data, what I liked the most about the O*NET is that the site could be utilized a career exploration tool. The site can be a career exploration and assessment tools that help individuals (workers and students) identify their work-related interests and abilities and what they consider important on the job, so that they can explore occupations that match their interests, abilities, and preferences. Also, it has a section that provides outlooks for the occupation so that people can monitor occupations and be able to see where there are career opportunities in the market. This course has provided me with information on how to communicate this information properly, which might be the best way to do so and what type of stuff one would need to keep in mind when preparing reports, memos, etc. It has also showed me that it is not as simple as just writing something that there is a proper way to do so and one should be mindful when doing so. It also so thought me that one should do research when dealing with companies of different cultures because it is so easy to say the wrong thing without even knowing it just because words mean different things when you dealing with different...

...point when the need of choosing an education and career paths takes place. Even though we want to have our dream job, studying provides a number of opportunities, as well as some knowledge and skills that might be useful and providing us a good job for the life we want to build in the future. I already chose my major so I will try to be more specific on how to choose it by describing each step so you can succeed in choosing it easily. As starting to think about choosing a major, the first step to take is consulting with someone that knows you and has a good career is a good thing to do. It can be anyone; parents, a friend or relatives. Someone that you trust and know his/her advices will be good for you, just go with it. Of course when it comes to the point you have to make a decision for the future, all of us think about which will be the best. Discussing all the thoughts and possible majors and listening to other advices can make you feel secure and having better ideas for your future major. For example, the person you are consulting can make you questions to help you think better such as: what are you interested in or passionate about? What kind of work do you want to do? What kind of life do you want to lead? In my opinion, parents are the ones who can give advices and of course those kinds of questions can make the mind think about a possible and guaranteed major to succeed. After that, the other step to take is exploration of majors. The best way to do this searching...

...the internet or take naps. I don’t think realistically I will get over procrastination anytime soon, but I can manage it. With hurdles came hidden strengths I discovered about myself. I’ve never thought of myself as a leader, but because the class used group thinking in more than one occasion, I found that I am a good leader. I communicate my ideas to the group while trying to balance the ideas of others so the group can come to an agreed upon decision. Obviously this can benefit me no matter what career I decide to go into, because the ability to take control of a situation and still remain diplomatic with colleagues is a valuable asset to have. Other than this, I can’t think of any other strength I discovered. I don’t think of myself as egotistical, but honestly I am pretty happy with the way I am and find it hard to think of strengths I don’t already possess. The highlights of the course for me would probably be the creative portion of the exploration paper. I enjoy expressing myself through art more so than I do in any other medium, so it was fun to be able to take my thoughts and feelings and turn them into a painting. As for other highlights and insights, I can’t...

...Career Exploration Paper Tori Turner Liberty University Career Exploration Paper Career Field & Occupation Choice Within society, there are many occupations to explore and chose. The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) results showed that my personal career strengths fall under the area of teaching and counseling. Currently, as a school counselor for a high school in Duncanville, Texas, a suburb outside of Dallas, I find the results of the assessment to be very accurate. Making the decision to become a counselor is a rewarding and exciting career choice. In the world of counsling, there are many individuals who place emphasis on not just basic implications, but also on theoretical studies that usually are a part of their professional and personal experiences. As times have change, so have educational curricula. Counselors and educators, their philosophies, and educational standards continue to change; therefore, educators have to take on responsibility and think more about their chosen roles within the educational system and the various means of combining theory and practice. The general examination of the different roles in counseling, personal career assessments and ideological relationships each play a role in the area of education and counseling. As a result of the choice as having a career as a counselor attaches the decision to continue to research theories and then integrate them into areas of education helps to build a solid foundation, which will...

...Continuing Academic Success Students can ensure their academic success by knowing the benefits of setting goals, knowing available resources, and by knowing the writing process, and maintaining academic integrity. Benefits of setting goals Setting goals help increase your motivation by creating a positive climate. They help you plan and gain control over your future and they also add challenge and purpose to your life. Goals also provide a sense of accomplishment. By setting goals you put more focus on the results which make you work smarter not harder, and they reduce stress and add meaning to your life (Milne, 2001, para.). Educational goals are very important to have when thinking of school or even while you are in school. “By setting goals you create a game plan. Goals help you accomplish what is important to you. Goals force you to focus your efforts. Take your dreams, write them down and make them come true. ” (Milne, 2001, para.). When setting goals start with setting a long term goal. Once you have your long term goal create short term goals to help accomplish your long term goal. I love short term goals because they help keep me motivated and looking forward. Also, if I don’t accomplish one, I have many others to fall back on to help me keep my head up. My educational goal is to graduate with a bachelor’s degree in health care administration with a concentration of long term care. Graduating is my long-term educational goal, which is great to have. ...Proposal for a New Career Exploration Program for Service Canada This proposal is for a new career exploration program for Service Canada office of Cornwall, Ontario. It will examine the use of four standardized assessments in career counseling, then select and budget relevant assessments and resource material. The anticipated client group includes: unemployment recipients (70% recently unemployed due to downsizing), average age is 30-40, 60% female, 20% First Nations, 20% professional immigrants, and an English and French population. To get a fuller understanding of an individual undergoing career counselling, there are four main groups of the psychometric assessments to consider performing, that would be helpful to assisting the individual in their decision process, they are: value scales, interest inventories, personality inventories, and aptitude test. Even though the connection between these four groups of assessment is complex, an easier way to describe the main interrelationships in terms of career assessment is that values measures make it easier to understand fundamental motivators and the cultural context. Interests come from, and can be understood in the context of these fundamental values. If the outcomes of interest measures are vague, for instance if there are two differing veins of interests, the career counsellor can go back to the values outcomes to offer a starting point for choosing between them. The personality and aptitude measures provide the person an...
