Strategy for Competitive advantage: Strategic differentiations of services
Business process to improve: Supply/Inventory Management II. Business Process Explanation: Current inventory management and supply ordering processes are ineffective in today’s business environment. Effective management of on hand supplies coupled with the ability to reorder needed stock quickly and at competitive prices will ease the stresses associated with UMUC Haircuts current inventory/supply business model. Achieving efficiency isn’t easy and there is an associated cost. Information Technology (IT) systems that monitor inventory levels and process resupply orders are the beginning cost. With the institution of technology comes the requirement of familiarization and training for the users, subsequently, time and training is also an associated cost. The end state is that IT will give a real time read of what you have and what you need and the best place to buy from taking into consideration quantity, best price, shipping cost and shipping time as well as product use statistics. Reorder levels should be evaluated and adjusted using statistical data. Solicited supplier data will be used for making cost conscious supply purchasing decisions. Cost management and control of supplies with the use of IT will allow diversity of services wile maintaining solid profit margins and reducing management stress.

III. Proposed Technology Solution: Functional, maintainable and expandable IT systems are most favorable. As a solution for UMUC Haircuts, hardware software and infrastructure have to be added to bring the business online with up to date
