My favorite constellation is Cassiopeia. It is named after a queen from Greek mythology. Cassiopeia was discovered by Ptolemy, a Greek astronomer. It's been one of my favorites since I heard the story behind it when I was younger. So, I picked it to have a chance to write my own origin of Cassiopeia.

Cassiopeia was a queen, married to King Cepheus, with a daughter named Andromeda. Cassiopeia was a very vain woman, and she said that she and her daughter were both more beautiful than Nereids(sea nymphs). Cepheus and Cassiopeia found that they needed to sacrifice their daughter to satisfy the monster and Poseidon. They tied her to a rock by the shore for the monster to take, but Andromeda was saved by Perseus, who killed the sea monster with Medusa's head. Poseidon, angry that no one had been punished, tied Cassiopeia to a chair in the heavens, creating the Cassiopeia constellation. …show more content…

After supper that night, Cassiopeia, curious about life outside the village, asked the traveler about where he had been, and where he was going. They talked for a long time before they went to bed, and the traveler left early the next morning. For a few days after, Cassiopeia had a strange feeling inside of her. She was no longer satisfied with life in the village, and she realized that she wanted to travel and explore. She left in the dead of night, leaving her parents a note saying not to follow. As she walked out of the village that night, she knew she would have great
