Cell Phone Usage in Today’s World In today’s world, many people think cell phones are starting to become a problem. People of all ages, especially teens, can’t even go anywhere without their phones anymore. They are constantly on them, checking people’s tweets on Twitter and texting back all of their friends. When people can’t even hold conversations with who is in front of them because they’re too busy on their phones, that’s when it becomes a problem, but cell phones can really help us out, too. With all the apps on phones now, we can find out where the nearest restaurant is, look up phone numbers to a retail store, and find out where you’re going with a built in G.P.S. Today, in Africa, the use of mobile phones has increased greatly, especially in Nigeria, which is Africa’s largest telecoms market. It has close to 100 million mobile phone lines. With all the recent uprisings in Africa, mobile phones have made it easy for the world to see. Almost all phones have cameras on them now. Where reporters can’t be, a cell phone can, and that video can be uploaded to the internet almost instantly. Not even in Africa, but almost everywhere, people use their phone cameras to capture stunning video. Years before, people could only see what the news reporters captured, but now nearly everyone you walk by has a camera in their pocket, on their phone. Digital Drawbacks

...Digital devices such as phones and computers are very common among the younger generation. It seems as if constant use of these digital devices have become accepted in todays culture. The amount of cell phone and Internet use today is extremely excessive. In the article “Is the Web Driving Us Mad” by Tony Dokoupil suggests that rather than making it easier for people to communicate the Internet may make us lonely and depressed and even make one suffer from forms of mental illnesses. Does this digital technology really bring people together or is it actually an irrelevant distraction? People who always rely on technology lack the ability to communicate in person, easily are distracted, and can even suffer from depression. Due to the easily accessible communication through cell phones may affect one in a negative way. Such as instantly receiving a text or phone call within seconds rather than having to communicate with another person face-to-face. Without the face-to-face communication one can fall back into the ways of not having to communicate in person. An example is when one is constantly communicating through digital devices how will they have the confidence to speak in public? One may be used to hiding behind the digital screen and speaking in front of people does not come natural. People need face-to-face communication when applying for jobs, to pass classes, or even getting helped at the store. Most of todays generation does not only rely on cell phone use, but my also rely...

Cell Phones While Driving Should Be Banned

...Society is becoming more connected to cell phones than ever. It’s true that cell phones make life easier. We are able to check our emails with it, receive phone calls, send text messages, hear music and take photos. However, cell phones and driving have become a massive issue that has redoubled these past years. This issue has been around since cell phones first came out. Everybody has their own point of view; however I believe that using cell phones while driving should not be allowed. My reasons for believing in this are that drivers are focusing too much on the screens of their cell phones instead of the road and phone usage can increase the time it takes for a driver to react.  The main reason for most accidents in today’s society is cell phone usage while driving. Cell phones cause distractions in many ways.  For that reason, anytime a driver takes away their hand off the wheel the higher is the risk to cause an accident and sometimes a fatal one. In the end, of my research about this issue I found this website where people share there “texting & driving” stories. I read some of them and they are all very touching and some even fatal endings. It makes you think how fragile life is. One minute we are here the other minute we look at a cell phone and we are gone. Distracted driving is a dangerous behavior not just for the drivers, but also the passengers and the no occupants. According to, National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) statistics showed that in...

Like any gadget, cell phones evolved over time, and each stage was very interesting. It keeps up with the ongoing changes and demands of the people who use it. The real story started with radio technology. These were used to communicate and are linked on a central data base. The first official cell phone was used by the Swedish police. This was in 1946. They did it by connecting a handheld phone to the telephone network. It was quite similar to the two way radio. During that decade, cell phones were simply not practical. People can make six phone calls and the battery was already dead. The electronics used in cell phones that we see now were first developed in the 1960s. During this time, the technology...

Mobile phone is a revolutionary step in the field of tele-communication. We had the days when the telephones only served the purpose of communication through sound. Mobile phone has completely changed the concept of the telephoning. Now a phone is not only a mere phone but it is a lot in itself. A mobile phone works on a unique networked system which needs no wiring, no fixation and no botheration. Originally it was used in cars, airlines, and passanger trains but increasingly it is becoming ubiquitous. It is basically low- power radio telephone. In this magical system calls go through radio transmitters that are located within small geographical unit which are known as cells. Since each cell's signals are too weak to interfere with those of other cells operating on the same frequencies and more channels can be used than would be possible with high power radio frequency transmission. Narrow-band frequency modulation (FM) is the most common mode of transmission, each message is assigned a carrier, unique to the cell from which it is transmitted. The cellular phone was first tested in 1978. The cellular market...
