...whether or not day-care is good for young children: Day-care is a term used for describing any situation in which the child is cared for by someone other than its parents for part of the day. Bowlby’s theory of attachment dictates that in a child’s early life they need a primary care giver and that the effect of having numerous different carers (i.e. sending a child to day-care) can in theory cause attachment issues as the primary care giver often switches the care of the child to new people when sending a child to day care however while evidence supports that day-cares may in fact cause developmental problems for young children there is also conflicting data that suggests the opposite is true and that children actually benefit from day-care. The NICHD study was done in the USA and aimed to find out the effects of day-care on young children. It did this by using triangulation in a longitudinal study that involved 1200 children from when they were born to when they started school. The study found that 3 factors determined the effects of day-care on young children. The first factor being the length of time the child spent in the day-care with the longer the time of prolonged day-care the more behavioural problems the child is likely to have which is similar to the effect the type of day-care has as nursery type day-cares also cause behavioural problems however they also lead to improvements in cognitive and language development. The final factor affecting day-care that this study...

Currently, the governor’s office is working on an initiative cause “Race to the Top”, child care centers not participating in the STARS program will not be eligible for the child care assistance program. ...value next year. Child care is evolving, and most care providers and parents agree the changes are for the best. That’s why my daycare center will offer the parents one stop services at a affordable price. Most parents are taking a careful look at child care costs, and decisions to reduce hours or even pull their kids out of organized programs entirely due to job losses or expenses are affecting child care providers as well. As a result, we are offering flexible hours, keeping rates the same or even reducing them in some cases, and working out pay arrangements for struggling families to encourage families to stay. Special programs or fees are also being scrutinized as we scramble to find ways to lessen costs while maintaining a quality care program for kids. No longer is child care for young children simply babysitting. Child care centers have mostly transitioned to centers for early education, where young tots are involved with early learning. The trend to learning centers is partly due to high parent and school expectations; it's also attributable to research that shows that kids are capable of learning early academics and other skills that previously were not taught until later. Our care centers offer form early education curriculum, and staff receives extensive training in instruction geared for preschoolers. Drop-in child care is welcome. What may come as a surprise to some is that we offer high-quality, safe and affordable care options. The drop-in care...

...Provision for needs to be met in early years settings Provision for needs to be met in Day care settings Personal support, supervision, advice, chiropody, aids and adaptations, meals. Provision for needs to be met in Residential and nursing homes Early years workers are often role models for children so should lead by example e.g. the language they use between each other will be imitated. Research shows that children imitate vocab and accent as well as actual words. Day care centres encourage independence in personal hygiene and the SLT can be applied here e.g. a service user says that they are able to shower themselves today to the care worker and gets praised for this by the care worker. Another service user is watching this and when it is his turn for a shower he says ‘actually I think I can do it myself today’ Certain powerful residents can encourage anti-social behaviour through SLT e.g. a popular male resident flirts with the nurses so other residents start to do it e.g. a resident is bulling another resident and some residents begin to imitate the bully and join in. The way the early years workers eat their lunch is likely to be imitated by the children therefore they should display good table manners i.e. eating with mouth closed, knife and fork in correct hands. At day care centres intellectual stimulation is encouraged. SLT can be applied here e.g. the carers sit down to play chess. Service users see this and start their own chess group. SLT can be...

...When a parent decides to go back to work after having a child, there are some important decisions to make. How long are you planning to work during the day and who will you have watch your child? As a parent, they need to feel comfortable with who is taking care of your child. There is a home-based daycare and center-based daycare available for childcare options. When choosing which childcare option you want, they need to look at the health and safety guidelines each one needs to follow. When using a family home-based childcare it is necessary to be aware that the safety guidelines are more lenient than a center-based childcare. Family childcare sites are not designed to be used as a childcare facility, and, therefore, may not be as safe as a group or center-based care (Wasserman et al. 1998). Safety procedures will not be posted, but general guidelines are followed. Family based home child cares are operated by a parent, who wants to remain home with their own children. Providers' knowledge on safety within their home could be limited to the licensing requirements. These requirements vary from state to state. Center-based childcare must be stricter on following the safety guidelines than home-based childcare. Upon entering a childcare facility, you should be able to see the safety guidelines (e.g. fire drill, exit routes, missing child procedures). Within the center, various checklists should be apparent: diapering check-in, checkout sheets, and hand-washing...

...selecting daycare services to help watch your child, many people think of a traditional daycare where you drop your child up in the morning and pick them up in the evening. However, there are several non-traditional options for daycare that you may not be aware of. Here are three of them that you could take advantage of. Drop-In Daycare You may be a stay-at-home parent, but you can occasionally have the need for daycare services. It could be something as simple as a personal doctor appointment you would rather not take your child to, a job interview, or even just wanting an hour or two so you can run errands around town quickly. That is where drop-in daycare services can help....

...the best place for children ages three and under are day care and preschool programs. In early child care education there are many benefits for children. My argument is to state the different advantages in early education. The results of the Parental Childcare and children’s Educational Attainment study shows that with the control of time, the health of a child will not have an effect on the age in which he can enroll in school. After controlling for endogeneity the results of the study were profound, and that childcare time should never be omitted because it can bias the study. While the health of a child does not factor into him or her being able to attend school according to the health service applications and immunization program for childcare providers, many childcare providers believe that immunization of children is highly important but they do not have the education, training, or information needed about these infectious diseases. Children have about seventeen scheduled immunizations before the age of 24 months, and laws require childcare providers to maintain the records and enforce immunization standards but not to educate themselves about it. This study measured if there was truth to childcare providers seeing the importance of immunization, and the value of an education seminar or some sought of teaching to provide childcare providers with knowledge about immunization. This begs the question of if your child is at risk, since health of children does not matter...

...Assignment 5 Name: (Your Name) For Dr. Larry Byrd HRM533 Date: (Today’s date) (Title) Innovations of Employee Benefits The succeeding paragraphs will explain how innovations in employee benefits can improve the overall competitive compensation strategy of the organization. The first way is offer onsite day care facilities. The study suggests that on-site daycare is not only affordable; it is in many cases profitable. Further, the study found that a majority of workers would be willing to contribute to the cost of employer-sponsored daycare whether or not they used the benefit. "There are several kinds of employers who typically have on-site childcare, such as high-tech and healthcare industries, and others who need 24-hour workers, such as airline reservation companies," notes Connelly. "The few studies that have been done on on-site childcare focused on those companies with highly educated workforces. We were particularly interested in another group of companies - those who weren't offering daycare as part of a whole package of family-friendly benefits or because of a corporate philosophy, but rather because they had done an economic analysis of their particular set of workers and had decided that on-site childcare would be economically beneficial to their company." The second way is pet-friendly offices. Not all companies are created equal when it comes to the acceptance of dogs in the workplace. Some readily welcome your best friend while others...

...chosen a Child Day Care Center as my service of choice. Marketing Variables There is a large consumer base for the day care industry. More than 20% of the children in the United States live in single parent households. (Smallbusinessnotes.com, 2009) In the last decade, more young mothers have a desire to work outside of the home. With this in mind, I feel that a day care center will be an excellent business venture. Pretty much everywhere you go; there is a need for this type of business. Research has proven that the most important years in a child’s development are the ages of one to six. (Smallbusinessnotes.com, 2009) The habits that children form during this critical time period will affect their ability to learn and adjust as they grow older. Parents of today are demanding pre-school education for their children that is offered by modern day care centers. Product A children’s day care center provides supervision and recreation for children of pre-school age. Day care centers are usually operated during daytime hours while the parents are at work. A good day care center will act as much more than just a babysitting service. They will provide education, recreational activities, and hot meals. Because the economy is constantly changing, I must always consider the wants and needs of consumers when developing my business. (Ebert & Griffin, 2009) This is one of the reasons why I plan on offering additional services in my day care business...

...E1 and E2: • Describe three different types of settings which provide care and education for children in your area. • Describe how each of the types of setting identified in E1 aims to support children and their names. There are three different sectors which provide care and education for children in my area, these are: • Statutory Sector • Voluntary Sector • Private Sector Statutory provision: These are services that have to be available by law which are funded and provided by the government such as The Sure Start Programme, The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), Children’s Centres, maintained nursery schools and nursery classes in primary schools. All of these services are free, as the child right to education. These services provide a wide range of education in different subjects. Nursery classes in lily’s primary school aims are to support and educate children by giving them the early education they need in order to be ready for primary school. Children are in small groups with the same age group as themselves; therefore they would build a relationship with other children as well as mix with others who have a different background/culture and beliefs. They usually start at 9am -11:30am or 1pm-3pm. Most nurseries have extended provisions to work with families such as after school clubs, breakfast clubs and even holiday clubs. Private provision: These services work independently and are profits making as they are funded through the fees. These services are not...
