...Scoshia B Holmes Mrs. Thomas En 091.08 April 15, 2015 Music will forever and always be a major factor in someone’s life, because it can make a person feel or do anything that nothing else in the world can make them do. One of my favorite songs I listen to is “I Bet” by Ciara. This song is about a break up involving cheating. This song speaks to everyone around the world boys and girls, even though it is song and meant from a girls’ prospective. The song I chose is “I Bet” by Ciara. This song is on her upcoming sixth studio album “Jackie”. It was released as the lead single from her album on January 26, 2015. This song is about a break up she had with her fiancé/ baby’s father. She talks about how she will start wanting her again once she’s with someone else, by saying “I bet you start loving me, Soon as I start loving someone else Somebody better than you, I bet you start needing me Soon as you see me with someone else Somebody other than you”. Ciara also talks about how it will hurt his pride “And I know that it hurts You know that it hurts your pride But you thought the grass was greener on the other side I bet you start loving me Soon as I start loving someone else Somebody better than you”. I think the theme of the song is a love hate situation. I think this is the themes, because of how she expresses them using sarcastic tone of voices. I think this is a love hate song, because in the beginning of the song she is talking about how he will miss her once she is gone. It is...

...The Secret Underworld Palace | | By: Arianna Maria Ketwaroo | | Prolong Long ago there was a powerful wizard named Celine. Among most of her abilities her most powerful one was that she could tell what would happen in the future. Many years passed and Celine got married to a wizard named Sammy, they had two beautiful daughters named Angel and Sarah. One day Celine fell ill and couldn’t get out of bed, for the past weeks she got worse and she was unable to speak, so she was forced to write what she wanted to say. It last for four weeks then six months poor Celine was bed risen. Not long after Celine had a vision but sadly she couldn’t tell anyone so she found some paper and wrote it down: The prophecy said that two girls born to become Queen’s will come to the palace and defeat the wicked ice beast; they shall be trained by a young man for two months after those two months are up the time will come that they shall defeat the wicked ice beast and they will be crowned Queens of the underworld palace. The oldest shall be name Angel and the other Sarah they are my own so they shall consist of the power I have both from myself and Sammy. They will come from the mortal world and will be accepted into our un-mortal world both of them shall have a butler to keep them safe from our world. When they both become Queens they shall each marry one of our kind and shall be honored throughout the underworld palace. After Celine finished writing down her vision she passed...

...Research Strategy Paper My main problem is procrastination. It’s very hard for me to get started on a task. I will usually find anything to avoid the situation. My procrastination gets so bad that it also effects my time management. I can actually remember when I was in high school getting to school on time, was a task in its self. When my alarm went off a t 6:45 in the morning I would reset it until 7:00. Then I would get out of bed go into the bathroom until about 7:20. When I came out I would turn on the television and slowly get dressed. At about 7:45 I would then sit down to eat breakfast. By now its 8:10 or 8:15 I would start walking to the bus stop. Nine times out of ten I would miss the 8:20 bus. Now I have to wait until 8:30, at 8:30 I’m officially late for first period. Its 8:45 and I have to catch another bus; I would ride like two miles to school from there. As I’m riding to school I keep thinking how in the world I get up at 6:45 in the morning and still be late for class. One time I sat down and realized that I procrastinate from the time I wake up in the morning until I go to sleep at night. As I’m sitting here at the computer typing my paper I am doing other things and I didn’t even realize it. Now that I’m taking my time seriously I’ve had reason to find different ways to understand and minimize procrastination. I personally know that stopping procrastination will not happen overnight it takes time and patience. Something a procrastinator has to work on. I...

...What Should I Do With My Life? The real meaning of success -- and how to find it From: Issue 66 January 2003, Page 69 [pic] It's time to define the new era. Our faith has been shaken. We've lost confidence in our leaders and in our institutions. Our beliefs have been tested. We've discredited the notion that the Internet would change everything (and the stock market would buy us an exit strategy from the grind). Our expectations have been dashed. We've abandoned the idea that work should be a 24-hour-a-day rush and that careers should be a wild adventure. Yet we're still holding on. We're seduced by the idea that picking up the pieces and simply tweaking the formula will get the party started again. In spite of our best thinking and most searing experience, our ideas about growth and success are mired in a boom-bust mentality. Just as LBOs gave way to IPOs, the market is primed for the next engine of wealth creation. Just as we traded in the pinstripes and monster bonuses of the Wall Street era for T-shirts and a piece of the action during the startup revolution, we're waiting to latch on to the new trappings of success. (I understand the inclination. I've surfed from one boom to the next for most of my working life -- from my early days as a bond trader to my most recent career as a writer tracking the migration of my generation from Wall Street to Silicon Valley.) There's a way out. Instead of focusing on what's next, let's get back to what's first. The previous...

...Disclaimers: I don’t own glee… If I did there would be a lot of Faberry moment AN: They didn’t meet Quinn yet (except for a certain brunette) Please Read and Review because it would certainly make my day Chapter 1: Can I Be of Help? The cold breeze can be felt almost instantly in this blur night, Rachel sign and her breath can be visibly seen, and she shivers and hugs herself. She looks up at the 70 feet building. It all started when they all agreed to spend their vacation in Las Vegas, the place for relaxation, Entertainment and Gambling, and all of it happened when they luckily won 10 tickets at some lottery. It was just by luck that Puck clumsily tripped and disturbed, its’ momentum and got the jackpot, Kurt and Rachel squeal with all their might leaving everyone around them deaf. Each one of them went and packed their things and saying their goodbyes to their parents and went off. The ride to the airport was Hell, Santana always wanted to stop at every store they come into, Brittany occasionally wants to go at detours, Sam won’t stop talking about X-Men and the Avengers ,Finn is snoring really loudly and Jesse was disturbingly looking at the mirror, like his worshiping his face and was like trying to propose to himself the only normal there was Rachel, sitting quietly with Ear buds in her ear, Blaine and Kurt talking to each other, Tina doing something on her computer and lastly Puck who was trying to ignore his Friends weird antics, when they...

I was born and raised in an urban area; then we moved to America for better education and career for my sisters and I. My parents were not that educated but they spent all their life savings on my sister’s and I’s education. They had a dream for us to get better jobs. As for me, I went to the richest school in India and had the best education that I could have. I didn’t have any goals or dreams about what I wanted to do and what I should do to achieve them— all I knew was that I wanted to be a police officer in the future. The day I moved to America and to my new high school, I realized I needed dreams that would make my life easier and bring a better future to me. This is why I believe in Dreams. ...Act I It all started with me knowing the answer to one question and calling in at the right time. Lucky as I were, I hadn't put any thought into the consiquences that followed. You see, a local radio station in my hometown was giving away a chance to meet and go on stage with a suprise celebrity in town for one night. To win the tickets all you had to do was be the tenth caller to know who that celebrity was. I sat in my car listening to the radio, phone gripped in my hand. When the radio presenter said it's time to call in now, I dialed as fast as I could, heart racing as I did. I was placed on hold as they allowed others to give their answers. Some of the answers were right, but weren't lucky enough to be the tenth caller. Though it wasn't announced, to keep the answer secert, they walked away with some consolation prize still, but not the grand prize which made my heart race more. As time went on, I clenched my phone in anticipation. Just when I was about to lose hope and hang up I heard the presenter on the phone and radio. "Who's on the line?", the presenter asked My heart stoped, my eyes widened as I tried to gather my words. "Laura", I sqeeked. "Hi Laura, are you the tenth caller to know the answer the question that will win you the grand prize, to meet the mystery celebrity tonight for one night only. AND to go on stage with that celebrity during his preformance?" "Yes", I squealed. "So what is it?", he asked. Silence, my mind knew the answer...

...The poem “A well-worn story” is categorized under the theme of romance and it particularly focuses on the tragic events that occurred to a woman during her transformation from being innocent to experienced. The speaker emphasizes on the innocence of being in a relationship and experience of a heartbreak, showing how this leads to a tragic, mainly due to the heartbreak that the lover has caused. In the first part of the poem, the woman has been described as innocent, which can be branched into more detailed points, such as naivety, inexperienced and immature. As is seen with the quote of “My one love came along”, the obvious key point in this phrase is “one love”. This denotes that she’s portraying her partner as the one and only true love that she’ll ever have, providing an indication of her immaturity to a certain extent in a relationship as she thinks that the relationship will last forever. This situation usually occurs when someone’s in a relationship and the pure exhilaration of being in one. In this case, naming their partner as the one true love implying that she’s very naïve. This quote also shows the seriousness of the speaker in a relationship, having so much faith and confidence in it, not thinking about things in the long run. This supports the idea of immaturity, as she doesn’t take into consideration that things can change in the future. Evidence of “experience” can be found in this poem, it’s the knowledge gained by physically undergoing...

...Kyra Brown Improv 5/8/15 Final Paper Wow, I find it unbelievable that Improv is coming to a close for the semester. It still feels as if we’ve only gotten through the first month of classes. Initially when I took improve I didn’t know what to expect. I wasn’t necessarily excited for Improv but I wasn’t unhappy to take it either. The first time I actually took Improv was when I was 16. I was in summer acting conservatory for NYC kids at Sarah Lawrence College and we had Improv every single day for several hours. It was so much fun and I found that I excelled at it. I was able to think quickly on my feet and create a piece with my partner in the exercise that was funny, flowed well and was easy to follow however, that was when I was 16. Now as a 19-year-old college student who hadn’t studied improve for several years, I was a little nervous. Its one thing to study Improv for a month straight and another, to take it as a college course. I was worried that maybe I might suck. Fear grew bigger and bigger inside the pit of my belly the beginning of the semester. As my fear grew bigger my patience grew less. I didn’t realize that many improve 1 students are freshman and although I was just a freshman myself last year, I could see the major difference in discipline between the two. I use to get irritated due to the lop-sided circle, the struggle to get through the warm-up games or the excessive side conversations. I didn’t feel connected to my ensemble and...

...Keep me in your Heart “Call it infatuation. Illusion. Obsession. Call it a nightmare, but call it love” It all started with one hello. The day when I met the most beautiful girl my eyes could ever see. Eya Montenegro, the girl that I adore all my life. Whenever she’s around my heart skips a beat, butterflies flood my tummy and I feel like I’m in heaven. I am Kevin Patrick Padua, the son of the Wilford University’s President. Many thought that I was a playboy, chick magnet perhaps but only one girl entered my heart and never once again left. One day, Eya or Ey walked into the gymnasium where I was playing basketball when suddenly the ball hit her right through the head. “Hey! What’s your problem?” Eya said. “I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to hurt you.” I say. “Yeah you did.” She said and throws the ball right at me intentionally. “That was mean! I said sorry, remember? I will never again treat you right!” As I said this to her, she immediately walked away. On our chemistry class, we were given a project and assigned to a lab partner. Unfortunately, Eya is my lab partner. “You again?” She says. “It’s destiny my love” I say with a wink. “Ha ha, very funny” she says with a snobbish attitude. We hardly got ourselves into a conversation the whole class when suddenly she started talking, “So what’s your plan Mr. Padua?” “Let’s meet at my house and get this project over with” I say. “That’s a good idea, Saturday 2 pm? Is that okay?” she says. “That’s perfect.” I say. Saturday...

...Part One I Mother died today. Or, maybe, yesterday; I can't be sure. The telegram from the Home says: YOUR MOTHER PASSED AWAY. FUNERAL TOMORROW. DEEP SYMPATHY. Which leaves the matter doubtful; it could have been yesterday. The Home for Aged Persons is at Marengo, some fifty miles from Algiers. With the two o'clock bus I should get there well before nightfall. Then I can spend the night there, keeping the usual vigil beside the body, and be back here by tomorrow evening. I have fixed up with my employer for two days' leave; obviously, under the circumstances, he couldn't refuse. Still, I had an idea he looked annoyed, and I said, without thinking: “Sorry, sir, but it's not my fault, you know.” Afterwards it struck me I needn't have said that. I had no reason to excuse myself; it was up to him to express his sympathy and so forth. Probably he will do so the day after tomorrow, when he sees me in black. For the present, it's almost as if Mother weren't really dead. The funeral will bring it home to me, put an official seal on it, so to speak… I took the two-o'clock bus. It was a blazing hot afternoon. I'd lunched, as usual, at Céleste's restaurant. Everyone was most kind, and Céleste said to me, “There's no one like a mother.” When I left they came with me to the door. It was something of a rush, getting away, as at the last moment I had to call in at Emmanuel's place to borrow his black tie and mourning band. He lost his uncle a few months ago. I had to run to catch the bus....

...Invisible HUNTER HAYES LYRICS Crowded hallways are the loneliest places For outcasts and rebels Or anyone who just dares to be different And you've been trying for so long To find out where your place is But in their narrow minds There's no room for anyone who dares to do something different Oh, but listen for a minute Trust the one Who's been where you are wishing all it was Was sticks and stones Those words cut deep but they don't mean you're all alone And you're not invisible Hear me out, There's so much more to life than what you're feeling now Someday you'll look back on all these days And all this pain is gonna be invisible Oh, invisible So your confidence is quiet To them quiet looks like weakness But you don't have to fight it 'Cause you're strong enough to win without a war Every heart has a rhythm Let yours beat out so loudly That everyone can hear it Yeah, I promise you don't need to hide it anymore Oh, and never be afraid of doing something different Dare to be something more Trust the one Who's been where you are wishing all it was Was sticks and stones Yeah, the words cut deep but they don't mean you're all alone And you're not invisible Hear me out, There's so much more of this life than what you're feeling now And someday you'll look back on all these days And all this pain is gonna be invisible These labels that they give you just 'cause they don't understand If you look past this moment You'll see...

...Really Living... So here’s my story, it was another typical plain and ordinary day for me, yippee. I woke up at around 4 am due to the wonderful melody of my very friendly neighbor’s dog. My class was still at 8am so I tried to get back to sleep but guess what, I can’t. Tick tock the clock went, great. For the past 4 years ever since I’ve moved to this town in order to pursue my college degree, I’ve been always awakened that very noisy dog. I get up, prepare my breakfast, take a bath, wear my uniform, prepare my bag and leave. I walk going to school with the spare time I have. Time check, its 7 o’clock and I’m already in school. I go in; I stay at the library and try look for something to entertain me. After a boring while I check my clock again, 7:45, I proceed to my first class. Blah, blah, the teacher talks on and on and I get bored. She calls my attention, looks at me sternly then proceeds with her lecture. I mean, what is wrong with her? A few more subjects crawled by agonizingly slowly and then it was dismissal time. I say goodbye to my friends and head straight home. As I was walking I saw a hysterically happy little boy. “Hey kid, why do you look so happy?” The boy looked at me with his big wide smiling eyes and said “I have cancer, stage three.” “What? And you’re happy about that?” The smiling eyes I have seen just moments ago changed, they got serious. “Mister, life isn’t about how long you live”, he said. “It’s about living the remaining time you have to the...
