Apple Inc. is an international company that focuses in the manufacture of consumer and business computers, electronics and software. The firm was established on April 1, 1976 by Steve Jobs, Steve Wozniak and Ronald Wayne. It was incorporated on January 3, 1977 and was initially know as Apple Computer, Inc. for 30 years until it was changed to Apple Inc. on January 9, 2007 in order to embrace a more diverse line of production to the market.
Macintosh computer was one of the first products of Apple which was released in 1984 and was embraced in the education sector. This flagged progressive variations and greater innovation between the company’s products. Though the innovation and variations were not reached immediately, introduction of Macintosh Portable and electrical equipment such as digital cameras, speakers and television applications failed to gather much appeal in consumer market. This triggered Apple to re-examine their position in the marketplace and Apple linked itself with companies such as IBM, Motorola and Microsoft at some point hoping to increase its sales. This did not work for the company and thus they decided that reinvention of their original products was the best direction to pursue. During the reinvention, Macintosh was transformed to iMac and its success allowed the firm to cast a wider net to include other products and services such as Apple Store, iPod, iTunes, MacBook, iPhone and iPad.
Regardless of its downfalls, Apple has become a strong market leader in the electronic industry due to its great popularity, familiarity and loyalty that it has created for its consumers. This has been reflected by an increase in revenues, profits, total equity and number of employees from its previous fiscal year of 2009. The products and services have also gained strength in the market and rose over the years. In 2009, Apple strengthened their base product

...Female Genital Mutilation “The sound of the scissors cutting the flesh between Soraya Miré’s legs is a sound she will never forget” (Ottney, 2012). What Soraya Miré was experiencing was Female Genital Mutilation (FGM), the procedure by which all or some of the female sex organs are removed. The history of this ritual is long, and the effects are not only physical it has many long-lasting mental and psychological consequences. The practice of FGM on infants, girls, and adolescents predates Islam and Christianity. Strong evidence points to FGM being practiced in the times of the Pharaohs. Some of the earliest instances of FGM have been found in the tombs of female mummies in Egypt (Nielson, 2010). Today the World Health Organization (WHO) (2012) website states that the women and girls who are most at risk for this procedure dwell in western, eastern, and north-eastern regions of Africa, in some countries in Asia and the Middle East, and among migrants from these areas. However, there was a small window of time at the end of April 2010 in the United States that gave permission to Pediatrics Doctors to perform a version of FGM. According to Belluck (2010) the American Academy of Pediatrics “suggested that American doctors be given permission to perform a ceremonial pinprick or “nick” on girls from these cultures if it would keep their families from sending them overseas for the full circumcision.” Modern societies reasoning for continuing this practice...

The Truth About Guns and Rights

...The Truth about Guns and Rights Christine Tarver COM220 February 17, 2013 Lori Pash Amendments amend provisions to the Constitution. The Second Amendment’s provisions are in regard to a militia with the right to bear arms. The word militia is not specifically defined in the Constitution or within the Second Amendment. With no specific definition, this brings about many debates of whose rights these documents protect. The word militia in these terms can be defined as a “general” militia, made up of all able bodied men. This was a check on governmental entities and the belief that people could be protected by individual rights. In 2008, for the first time in American history the Supreme Court defined the right to bear arms. This took place in District of Columbia v. Heller. The Supreme Court stated the Second Amendment guarantees an individual right to possess firearms independent of service in a state militia and to use firearms for traditionally lawful purposes, including self-defense within the home. Gun control laws in America are responsible for the possibility of who can or cannot purchase and possess guns; laws also give valid reasons to gun ownership. The right to bear arms has limitations and debates. The second amendment does not protect people against any and every weapon readily available. In fact there are obstacles one must cross before they legally have full ownership of a gun. The rules, regulations, and laws according to this process vary greatly from state...
