Berkeley argues that ideas are the only things that are real. He also believes that sensible objects exist only in the minds of those who perceive them. The nonmaterial objects we have main access to in our minds are ideas. Berkeley thought that we can only obtain wisdom from our experiences and from how we perceive things (Roca and Schuh 86).
As Berkeley states, “to exist is to be perceived” (Roca and Schuh 86). He also contended that the world is composed of two different things which are ideas and minds. In order to be an idea, it must be perceived by the mind. In comparison to Berkeley, Hobbes views as stated in
Roca and Schuh, “the only things that exist are bodies in motions”, demonstrates his perception as if instead of ideas,
