The first step in creating a catchy title is to actually write your essay. Often, papers will take on minds of their own, and you’ll end up writing on a different subject than you had planned. If you create the title first, it will mean spending more time revising the title once the paper is completed.

| |Idea 1 |Idea 2 |Idea 3 |
|Theme | | | |
|Audience | | | |
|Language | | | |
|Phrases | | | |

Theme: Your specific argument
Ideas: Adjectives that describe that argument

Audience: The target group you are trying to reach
Ideas: Adjectives that describe that group

Language: The words you use to refer to your main idea
Ideas: Words pulled from your essay (often the concluding paragraph) that refer to your main idea

Phrases: Quotations from sources you’ve used
Ideas: Key phrases pulled from quotations in your essay that capture your main idea

Let’s say you are writing an essay about The Hunger Games. Here’s a sample of potential title options using the template above.

...job discrimination. This part of the EEO addresses changes in the policies/procedure in employment that result in creating an environment with the intention of targeting a specific person or groups to force them to quit or leaving any reasonable person no other choice but to quit. To establish whether this has occurred the courts have established two different criteria to judges these actions by. The first is the reasonable person standard. This is where any reasonable person would find these changes so unbearable that there is no other option but to quit to find relief from this oppressive environment, for example requiring employees to work 16 hours per day without any brakes. The second is if the employer has created the policies and/or procedures with the specific intent of causing an employee, or segment of employees, to quit; such as requiring all persons to work on religious holidays without any exceptions even though there is no true operational need to do so. It is not necessary for the situation to meet both of these criteria it must only meet one to be considered constructive discharge. Since they hold deep religious convictions they would not be able to comply and was left with no other option but to quit. Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 deals with laws that prohibit intentional and unintentional discrimination based...

Search Engine Optimization

... These steps are listed based on importance, so don’t skip a step. Also, remember that creating new optimized content on a weekly basis is critical to achieving long-term success with SEO. Step 1: Choose Keywords Read the page’s content and identify two (2) keywords that are most relevant to the overall page content. Choose one (1) primary keyword relevant to the page’s content and one variation of that keyword (e.g. plural variation or two closely related keywords) per page. If you can’t identify one primary keyword for a page, you’ll need to create new website pages to separate the different content. If it’s not clear to you what page is about, then your visitors and the search engines won’t be able to understand the page either. Step 2: Page Title The page title appears as the blue, bolded, underlined text on a Google search results page, and also on the top left the browser bar. The page title should follow these guidelines:      Be under 70 characters with no more than two long-tail keywords per page title The primary keyword should appear first Each keyword phrase should be separated by pipes (|) Each page title on your website should be unique Except for your homepage and contact us page, each page title should NOT include your business name Step 3: Meta Description The meta description appears on a Google search results page under the Page Title.
