The artifact used for this reflection is the Data Based Intervention Plan used in SPE 709. This plan shows how I collected data, interpreted data, implemented interventions, and helped increase the students’ knowledge in the areas of letter naming fluency (LNF), letter sound fluency (LSF), and CVC word recognition (pre-primer sight words). The assessments I used in this process included the Curriculum Based Measurements Letter Naming Fluency (LNF) probe and the Letter Sound Fluency (LSF) probe and teacher made flashcards. I also used www.starfall.com and www.ABCMouse.com as interventions to help increase the students learning process. Using the LNF and LSF allowed me the opportunity to see firsthand the areas of need for increasing the students LNF, LSF, and CVC word recognition.
Assessment is a key concept in the learning process and understanding when to assess, how to assess, and what to assess with special needs children is very important in ascertaining success in assessment (ICC8K1). This allowed me the ability to ensure that the skills I worked on with said student were what he needed to be successful and increase his knowledge of letter naming fluency, letter sound fluency, and pre-primer sight word recognition. I also had the opportunity to make accommodations and modifications throughout this assessment (ICC8K5). Having the opportunity to use technology (www.starfall.com and www.ABCMouse.com ) the ability to conduct reliable assessments (ICC8S3). The two afore mentioned websites help track a student’s progress and allows the teacher to keep up with their progress along the way.
