An Essential Guide to Possibilities and Risks of Cloud Computing
“By 2011, early technology adopters will forgo capital expenditures and instead purchase 40% of their IT infrastructure as a service ... Cloud Computing will take off, thus untying applications from specific infrastructure.” by Gartner Highlights Key Predictions for IT Organizations and Users in 2008 and Beyond, January 2008

An Essential Guide to Possibilities and Risks of Cloud Computing

A PRAGMATIC, EFFECTIVE AND HYPE-FREE APPROACH FOR STRATEGIC ENTERPRISE DECISION MAKING
Cloud Computing is quite possibly the hottest, most discussed and often misunderstood concept in Information Technology (IT) today. In short, Cloud Computing proposes to transform the way IT is deployed and managed, promising reduced implementation, maintenance costs and complexity, while accelerating innovation, providing faster timeto-market, and providing the ability to scale high-performance applications and infrastructures on demand. The goal of this White Paper is to provide a realistic perspective of the possibilities, benefits and risks of Cloud Computing; what to look for, what to avoid, and also some tips and best practices on implementation, architecture and vendor management strategies. It is important to consider all those aspects before you decide either to move (but without putting the carriage before the horse) or not to move your systems, applications, and/or data to to the “Cloud”, in a “hype free” approach. Note: Mentions of vendors and/or products are NOT endorsements nor recommendations.

Green Technology Data Centre

...Executive Summary The use of green data centers is getting popular. Such centers refer to a repository to store, manage and disseminate data. It has two purposes to meet: increase energy efficiency and reducing the impact on the environment as much as possible (Rick Bauer,2008). The mechanical, lighting, electrical and computer systems must work towards these two goals. Building and operating green data centers requires advanced technologies and strategies. There are various ways to implement the green data centers - reducing buildings’ footprints, utilizing low-emission building materials, ensuring sustainable landscaping, recycling waste, enhancing indoor environment quality and using hybrid vehicles. Going forward, as demand for data centre space increases in an energy-constrained world, the need for the sustainable development of data centers becomes more pressing. 1.0 Introduction of green data Center A green data center is operated with maximum energy efficiency with minimum environmental impact. The computing facility is constructed or built under green computing principle that will reduce significantly the operating expenses for IT infrastructure. Traditional the power required to run the data center non IT equipment such as fans, pumps, UPS system consumed about 60% total annual energy of the data center (Gartner, Inc, American information technology research). However with the implementation of the green data center, the total energy consumption can be reduced...

...1 Introduction Sound as an information channel has distinct advantages over other methods of communication, making it widely-used for warnings and alerts in various contexts and environments. Auditory warning signals in user environments are, more often than not, very simple, monotone sounds. In application, they are often annoying and difficult for users to recognize and understand (Block et al., 1999; Ulfvengren, 2006) During recent time there has been an increasing interest to investigate new and more complex nonspeech sounds to convey information in critical situations (Stevens et al., 2006; Ulfvengren, 2006; McKeown, 2005). The Sonic studio, part of the Interactive Institute in Sweden, is a research unit focusing on applied research within sound, interactivity and new technology. Sound for information-delivery is a recently started research project at the studio. One particular focus is to explore alternative methods to design warning signals for user environments. So far, a literature study has been carried to with the aim to investigate the progress which has taken place within this branch of sound design research, identify issues related to this type of research, and to point out some new potential ways to design warning signals. The objective of this paper has been to present and discuss the important findings of this study. 2 Speech and non-speech sounds A common approach in auditory display research today is to distinguish between speech and non-speech...

During lunch and dinner timings, many are unable to find a seat as soon as they reach the food centres and thus they are forced to wait until there is a vacant seat. The impatient ones may then choose not to eat and leave the food centre. As such, during those peak hours, many of those who manage to get a seat would use their belongings such as their tissue paper and umbrellas to reserve their seats. This would thus cause foreigners who visit the food centres to think that Singapore is a society that lacks graciousness. Critical Thinking in Customer Service

...truly service customers.” As many customer service representatives are faced with the daily task of providing conflict resolution to often angry customers, it is very important that they feel empowered and trusted to make decisions that not only impact a company’s bottom line, but that also satisfies the customer’s original request or complaint (Ivancevich, 2010, p 393). Discussion of the Literature While many individuals utilize some type of customer service on nearly a daily basis, the majority of people do not understand the job competencies and necessary qualifications that are needed to be able to effectively handle inquiries and diffuse tense situations on a daily basis. In "An Empirical Study of Job Design in the Australian Call Centre Industry’ Bowden argues that the majority of customer service employees in call centers lack the necessary autonomy and authority needed in order to solve an issue directly without involving upper management. By providing employees with more direct individual authority, he argues that customers will receive...

How Succesfull Was Domestic Policy of Napoleon Iii?

...How succesfull was domestic policy of Napoleon III? All was going well for Louis Bonaparte when he sat on the throne of France. It seemed that the lack of military genious that his uncle enjoed was replaced with the economic prosperity of the country which came with the affection of providence at the same time when he took his position as the Emperor of France. But overall, Napoleon III had an aim to maintatin his status quo, so according to that he change the features of his domestic policies from authotorian to liberal. These changes resoult mainly in succes. Aspects that changed in accordance to the transition of his ideology was, for example, the relationship with the Church. Napoleon knew that he would need the suport of the Church to approve his coup d'etat. The Legitimists among the clerigy view the Empire as a more Catholic friendly enviroment, and wealthy Catholics thought that the Emperor will, if suported, ensure prosperity for cleregy and religion from which Catholics of all social ranks will have benefits. Therefore, it is clear that the relationship during the reign of Napoleon III was largly pragmatic. Latter on, Napoleon tried to decrease the influence of Church in politics and familly lifes, but in the same time use clerigy as a tool to diminish the imapact of the press. I think this was succesfull because more room was left to people who specialised in economic and social matters and were, therefore more appropriatte for the course of development...

Obama

...It is important to make critical evaluations of news stories because there are many misleading articles that are based on opinion rather than actual facts. A writer need as many facts on a story as possible to convey the proper and accurate message to the reader, this allow them to know what is going on in the world around them. http://www.businessweek.com/articles/2012-06-03/actually-obama-is-running-a-positive-campaign gave very good detail about Obama running a positive campaign for the 2012. I believe the story was credible, being that it came from an interview with Obama’s chief strategist, David Axelrod. They gave good facts in the article that was provided. They took on the idea and put the negative and positive of both democrats and republicans. They showed a percentage of how each candidate faired when it came to advertising the truth. Not much examples of positive that Obama has accomplished was put on the article, but it was enough to make a compelling argument. The question of ‘How do we know that he has been running positive ad’s’ was asked, if it wasn’t advertised as much. The editor of the article stated that the positive ads were released only in the battle ground states, such as Florida, North Carolina, etc…. According to the ad, in these states national big wigs cannot see them, such as Bob Schieffer. The statement made by Axelrod seemed a bit opinionated It also seemed that they paid more attention to the number of ads given since the campaign began rather...

...Personal Honour I’ve learned in my life that if you live life doing the right thing, being kind to others, living life with honour is best. Honour is one’s belief and action. I try to do the right thing as much I can. One day I went to HMV to buy movies, I picked up 3 dvd’s and paid for it. When I got home I notice when I looked on the receipt that the cashier just charged me for two instead of three. So the next day, I went back to the store and told them that I was not charged for one of the movies. The cashier thanked me and said that most people wouldn’t have brought the dvd’s back. I could have saved $30 dollar, but conscience was telling me to bring it back and pay for it. I try to be kind to everyone even if some people are rude to me. I work as a manager for McDonalds, and one day at work a customer came up to me and started to yell. The first thing that came to my mind was to punch him. But instead I listened to his story and help him solve his problem and because I was nice, he left the store happier. Where I grew up no one did the right thing, being kind was a weakness and honour was no were to be found. Every day, I try hard to live a good life so my son can see the difference between right and...

Conservative or Liberal

...Kimberly English 1101 20 Sept. 2008 Unfortunately, many people in today’s society are extremely ignorant to the basic knowledge of politics. They have no idea whether they are a conservative or a liberal. There is also a good chance that they have put little thought into formulating views on the controversies between the parties. Before people are able to even do those things they must first know what a conservative is and how they are differ from liberals. A conservative party is a political group that is committed to preserving what they consider “good” in their country. In the United States, conservatives generally favor limited government, public morality and free enterprise. They are usually right wing politicians who hold traditional values like respect for family. Conservatives tend to be very patriotic and prefer a large role for military to provide security for society. Some of the principles they adhere to are strong national defense, return of prayer in school, prohibition of abortion, and choice in education. They also believe that marriage should take place between a man and a woman. Many conservatives express strong feelings about the sanctity of life. Conservatives generally value individual accomplishment and are opposed to government involvement. They do not believe that it is the job of the government to solve problems of society with costly policies such as mandatory health care. Simply put liberals think that the government should take care...
