...daily life of a single teenage mother. My experience with my sugar baby was so much fun, but I soon learned that it wouldn't be easy caring for a baby all day long every day. Day one began my journey, when I introduced Lauren Ashley to my friends and family. I fixed her curly brown hair up in a bow, and I put on her a newborn diaper. There were so many styles of diapers to choose from in the store; it was mind-boggling. She had the cutest little ears I had ever seen. It was very heavy carrying Lauren Ashley everywhere all over school, including my books! The only time I needed a babysitter was when I had football games, pep-rallies, cheer practice, and class, so basically all day. I saw right then that daycare would be a necessity. I hired my parents, my grandmother, and my friends to baby sit. Whenever me and the other cheerleaders went to practice, we created a daycare in Mrs. Dennis' classroom. If Lauren Ashley were a real baby, I would pay around $90.00 a week just for her to go to daycare, and that doesn't include any extra food or diapers I would need to send. I also couldn't imagine having to wake up every two hours all night long to feed, change diapers, and rock Lauren Ashley back to sleep. But, I know I would really love my baby, so I would take care of her the proper way. One day when I really have kids, and they are girls, I am going to name them Julia- Love and Lauren Ashley. If I have a boy, I am going to name him Colton Bradley. Hopefully, whomever I marry will think...

...illness and death. In the United States Hepatitis A, HAV for short has reached a massive decline of occurrences since vaccinations became available. The decrease in incidences has nearly hit ninety percent. Though, there are still over twenty five thousand people infected in the United States each year with Hepatitis A. 2. The infectious agent Hepatitis A is transmitted through food and water which is contaminated with human feces. There are people who are at greater risk than others in contracting Hepatitis A, such as those who may handle contaminated food. Hepatitis A can also spread in daycare centers. Children and especially babies still in diapers may get feces on their hands, handle toys or other objects that they may put in their mouths. The daycare staff also puts themselves and the children at higher risk if they are not diligent in washing their own hands after changing a diaper or helping a child use the restroom. There are international regions where Hepatitis A is prevalent, with that said those who travel to these places frequently are more at risk. Additionally, since Hepatitis A virus is transmitted through water, those who ingest seafood from contaminated water are at risk as well. 3. Food poisoning is an example of a real life outbreak in the United States. In cases of contaminated food it is commonly the individual who is preparing the food who infects it. In most cases,...

...tips to our students. A lot of parents just sit there child down to eat without washing or sanitizing their hands. Let’s wash Those germs away. I feel very confident about my demonstration, because I have worked in daycare and food services; and the one thing they were big on was cleanliness. I wouldn’t change anything about my demonstration, because I followed the video step by step and was very clear on explaining each step carefully. From this experience, I’ve learned that even infant hands should be washed after changing his/her diaper. Not washing your hand is the number one way we carries disease and infection. A baby will put his or her on a nasty diaper or even their private area while you are changing him or her. I also did my demonstration on diaper changing in the infant room. I felt great about the demonstration, due to the fact that I watched the video and understood exactly what to do. During the demonstration, I was more focused on keeping the baby still while I changed its diaper. I remembered from the video I could have given the child a toy to play with while I changed him or her diaper. I would not change anything about my demonstration. T he Director told me I did an awesome job. I also taught the teacher in the room how to change a diaper properly. I’ve learned just to have fun and enjoy what I am doing. I now understand that if I make a mistake, I need to see to it that the mistake is corrected right away. I always try to do these steps for health...

...Georgia we have a program name “Bright from the Start” which has standards each center must meet to be on the program and have curriculum for each child care center to follow. Whether it is a school system or childcare center administrators and teachers must work together to teach from the curriculums formed so children can learn. How the role of the administrator in program and curriculum planning is different from that of the teacher. Education administrators organize and manage the administration, support systems and activities that facilitate the effective running of an educational institution (AGCAS 2012). For an example, in a childcare center the administrators are the owners, directors, and whatever program that accredited the daycare center through the state. School systems have administrators also. The board of education votes on the school super intendant who schedule meetings to plan a curriculum for the school system to teach by. The school super intendant hires administrators such as principals, and assistant principles to make sure the teachers in the schools are teaching by the curriculum. The teachers are...

...Vs Disposable Diapers…..What’s Best? Introduction Diapers have been used by humans throughout history. But, the word diaper did not originally refer to its use. Instead, the term originally referred to a type of cloth with a pattern of small repeated geometric shapes. The first diapers were made of a special type of soft cloth cut in geometric shapes. The method of creating geometric shapes in cloth was called diapering, but it eventually gave the name of the cloth used in making diapers back in 1590s in England. Diaper is used on children who are not yet toilet trained to prevent bed-wetting and to keep babies’ skin clean and dry. While it was originally made of cloth material, several variations and improvements were made on the diaper resulting in the creation of disposable diaper. Unlike cloth diapers which can be washed and reused multiple times, disposable diapers are thrown away after use (Leverich). The boom of the disposable diaper industry suggests that it is more preferred by parents that its cloth counterpart. Parents choose what they think is best for their baby. Hence, while the use of disposable diaper has become a trend, it actually has a number of disadvantages that may want parents to reconsider using cloth diapers. Health and Comfort One of the main reasons of using diapers is to provide comfort for the baby by keeping their skin dry, healthy and free from rashes. Prolong wetness irritates the baby’s skin and cause rashes. Cloth diaper is made from...

...Provider Experience Certified Infant/Child CPR and first aid Excellent References Child Care Philosophy Family child care in a “home like” setting is the best alternative there is for working parents. It provides a small secure environment for children during the most important time of their development. Family child care offers a home away from home, providing children with “siblings” of all ages, to play, socialize, and learn from. My goal in providing quality child care for your child is to provide… A safe environment A nurturing environment A learning environment… learning is not necessarily the ABC’s and 123’s, but is also the learning of values. The learning of honesty, respect, self–reliance, and potential, self-discipline, and moderation, the values of being; dependable, love, sensitivity to others, kindness, friendliness and fairness are the values of giving. A proper approach to discipline… Since children occasionally need discipline, it is important that you and I share a similar philosophy so that your child is not too confused as to where the boundaries are and what is expected of him/her. Children are taught which behaviors are inappropriate, and why, and given alternatives that are acceptable. In this way, the behavior is being changed, with out making the child feel “bad” or unloved. This helps develop their self-esteem, and teaches them how to handle difficult situations themselves in the future. I express my disapproval (without attaching...

...are offered to people who are taking care of their chronically ill parents or what is offered to elders who are prisoners in their own home because of their illness or those elders who yearn to be with people who are of their age and understand what they are going through at times. A little while ago I found out about adult day cares. An adult day care is offered to persons who are sixty years or older who can’t be left alone for periods of time. Adult daycares usually don’t take elders who are bed ridden or can’t take care of them selves. Adult day care will accept elders who wear diapers and use catheters, or those who use wheel chairs or walkers as long as they are coherent. Adult day cares staffs certified nursing assistance, and nurses to provide medical care. Some adult day care centers provide transportation if needed. Elders can participate in a number of activities like arts and craft, board games, educational activities and activities that could help them continue to perform their activities of daily living. Adult daycares also sometimes provide transportation to doctors appointments. The very good thing that adult day care provides is time for care givers to run aarons, spend time more personal time with their children or their spouse or just give them time to take a load off. Most adult day cares are open normal business hours. This program could cost up to seventy dollars a day. Medicare and Medicaid don’t cover the cost but some long term care insurances...

...and our family unit as a whole. In facing our responsibilities as a parent, choosing the “right” childcare is a critical choice. Choosing appropriate childcare encompasses more than just being a mere convenience or financial expenditure. Facing such a critical choice as parents we must understand and take into consideration the decisions we make today potentially affect our children positively and negatively for the rest of their lives. Conventional families must adapt to their environments; primarily both parents must work in order to maintain an appropriate manner of living even for the basic necessities of survival. If perhaps you cannot rely on local family members or friends to assist you with your childcare needs, professional daycare is the primary option for parents working outside the home. I always treat my daycare parents with dignity and respect; I always respect their wishes and commands when it comes to their child. I let all parents know that they are always welcome and appreciated. CG 4.1-I always make it a point to have an open communication with all parents. Usually in the morning I like to ask how the child is doing today and is there anything I need to know. I let parents know at the end of each day how their child did, wither positive or negative. I send out monthly newsletters to let all parents know of any closures, parties, and activity’s going on that month. I also send out a monthly curriculum that shows everything that their child will be learning for that month. I also have daily feeding; diaper logs for infants so any parents at anytime are free to look at them. ...PKIDs’ PHR www.pkids.org 1 ADVOCACY ADVOCACY Legal Protections for Children with Viral Hepatitis Updated 2006 Overview In the United States, three federal laws are critical in protecting children with viral hepatitis against discrimination in schools, daycare centers, athletic programs, camps and other areas of daily life. The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) is the most powerful law safeguarding the rights of children in public and private schools and daycare centers. The law also prevents any organization or business from discriminating against a person because of a real or perceived disability, such as an infectious disease. A second law, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, bars schools, colleges and other organizations receiving federal funding from discriminating against children with disabilities. Section 504 identifies chronic liver disease as a “hidden disability.” Most advocates say hepatitis B and C are disabilities that are protected by ADA and Section 504—even though these chronic liver diseases are relatively asymptomatic in children. A third law, the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (commonly called FERPA or the Buckley Amendment) prevents school officials from divulging medical information about a student to anyone beyond essential school personnel. ADA also has provisions that protect student medical records. Many states also have civil rights laws that, similar to ADA, protect people with infectious diseases and other disabilities...
