...Over many centuries, human societies across the globe have established progressively closer contacts. Recently, the pace of global integration has dramatically increased. Unprecedented changes in communications, transportation, and computer technology have given the process new impetus and made the world more interdependent than ever. Multinational corporations manufacture products in many countries and sell to consumers around the world. Money, technology and raw materials move ever more swiftly across national borders. Along with products and finances, ideas and cultures circulate more freely. As a result, laws, economies, and social movements are forming at the international level. This site considers not only the Globalization of the Economy but also the Globalization of Politics, of Culture and of Law. The globalized world sweeps away regulation and undermines local and national politics, just as the consolidation of the nation state swept away local economies, dialects, cultures and political forms. Globalization creates new markets and wealth, even as it causes widespread suffering, disorder, and unrest. It is both a source of repression and a catalyst for global movements of social justice and emancipation. The great financial crisis of 2008-09 has revealed the dangers of an unstable, deregulated, global economy but it has also given rise to important global initiatives for change. | Picture Credit: flickr.com/Cecilia... | | The term globalization encompasses...

Date published: April 1, 2013 1) This article gives a good background on how we first started abortion and what is happening today with abortion. A number of 68 countries world wide only allow abortion if a women is about to die. Most of the other countries in the world will decide whether the women should be allowed to have an abortion or not. Since, the Roe Vs Wade case abortion has not become a matter of what the woman wants it has become more of a liberal. Due to this liberalization countries do not allow an abortion unless under dire circumstances. This leads women to get an abortion done illegally and in unsafe environments that could put their lives at risks. Lots of countries have been noticing this over the years and have started to take off abortion laws and allow abortion. They may allow abortion, but they make you go through a 24 hour waiting period after they tell you that abortion has a chance to give you breast cancer and can affect chances of having a child. While in other countries they make you go through a counseling period to talk over why you want to have an abortion and until they feel satisfied. When going through the counseling...

Along with I will discuss two cases of such fraud in UAE and finally I will discuss possible precautions to mitigate the risk of such frauds. In recent year the computer network threats become technically more advanced, sophisticated, more organised and at the same time difficult to detect. It is important to mention that these attacks not only damage network security for financial frauds but this also aim to disable and reliability of the infrastructure as well, which may cause worse type of threat to the national security. (Tom Cross and Eric Savitz, Forbes Staff, 2012) Threats Most respected financial magazine FORBES has mentioned five main security threats to the computer networks which includes. • State-sponsored espionage and sabotage of computer networks o In 2012 a very famous virus called Flame was discovered which was not traced by the software in years. ...Date Rape "Date rape", often referred to as acquaintance rape, is an assault or attempted assault usually committed by a new acquaintance involving sexual intercourse without mutual consent. The term date rape is widely used but can be misleading because the person who commits the crime might not be dating the victim. Rather, it could be an acquaintance or stranger. Drugs used by Attackers: Drug-facilitated date rape is the use of drugs to assist the attacker in a rape. The drug can be any substance that is physical or mind altering. Drug facilitated sexual assault (DFSA), which is considered an umbrella term for crimes such as drug-facilitated date rape, differs from many rapes in that it is not typically a crime of physical violence but rather of sexual hedonism and entitlement. Though flunitrazepam (Rohypnol) is often cited as a date rape drug because of its high potency, strong effects and the ability to cause strong amnesia during its duration of action, investigations into its actual use as a date rape drug have contradicted popular belief. According to research conducted by Michael Robertson from the San Diego Medical Examiner's office and Dr. Mahmoud El Sohly of El Sohly Laboratories, test results indicated that flunitrazepam was only used in around 1% of reported date rapes according to Robertson and 0.33% according to urine lab tests done by El Sohly. In fact, the benzodiazepines midazolam and temazepam were the two most common benzodiazepines utilized for...

...INTEREST RATES STRATEGY 24 February 2011 Understanding OIS discounting The Dodd-Frank Act mandates central clearing for most swaps and the collateralization of uncleared swaps on dealer balance sheets. OIS discounting is the technically correct approach for pricing and valuing collateralized swaps, and it involves a thorough reconsideration of traditional pricing and valuation techniques. In this note we provide background and touch on some technical nuances involved. The traditional method of discounting using a Libor curve misstates the required collateral on a swap and its mark-to-market value. When collateral earns OIS, collateral and mark to market should be based on valuations that discount using a risk-free curve, such as the OIS curve. Investors need to rethink the relationship between forward rates and par rates. For the same par swap curve, if the curve is upward sloping and Libor-OIS spreads are positive, forward rates are lower under OIS discounting than they are under Libor discounting. The mark-to-market impact of a switch to OIS discounting from Libor discounting should materially affect only aged or off-market swaps, since the mark-to-market value of a par swap at initiation is zero under both discounting schemes. Possible market impact: − Impact on directional books: Given the rally in rates over the past few years, natural receivers of swaps should benefit and natural payers could lose in a switch to OIS discounting. This has implications...

...Dubai-United Arab Emirates Final Paper Study Abroad: December 26, 2010 – January 6, 2011 1. Over the past 20 years Dubai has transformed into a city of economic growth and focus. Unlike its neighbors, the city and the UAE as a whole, has developed into a diverse economic state that has become a center for business and tourism. Although the city was built on the oil industry, it is the city’s current model of business that has driven its economy. Many of the city’s main revenues come from tourism, real estate, and financial services. Typically overlooked, it is Dubai’s economic development strategy that has kept the city profitable and growing. Dubai’s economic development strategy has implemented many strategies that the government believes will help ensure long term stability and sustainability. One tactic the government has developed is the implementation of free zones. These free zones have been designed to contribute to Dubai’s growth and development. One main item is involved with these zones however—the legal status of the companies within these zones. These companies are treated as foreign companies operating outside the UAE. Most sales of the companies located in these zones are exported without any tax being imposed. Owning a company in a free zone allows for 100% retention of profits (Reed). The free zones in Dubai include financial centers, media centers, and technology centers. Dubai has also taken up a large investment in the real estate sector...
