I really enjoyed watching Dhamma Brothers in our class because I thought the documentary did a very good job with capturing all of the events that were going on around the Donaldson Correctional Facility in Alabama. In this prison live some of the most dangerous people that we have seen. But in the mix of all this, there were prisoners for whatever reason, willing to try something out that might help them live a more healthy and peaceful life. I meditate every so often as well, so when I was watching these men try it for the first time, I could relate to the different emotions that they were feeling because I know that I have never had any sort of experience quite like it before. I could tell because when they interviewed some of them individually they seem sincere in their efforts to become respectable, law-abiding citizens again. Are these men really able to find peace within themselves after all the crime that they have committed or is just a waste of time, money, and resources to establish this program?

Everyone knows that it is illegal to kill and steal, but these men that are locked up chose to do it anyway. Now I am not saying that we are all perfect except for the people in this prison, but what I am saying is something drove these men to such an extreme where they had to commit a terrible crime in order to be in the position they are in now. With that being said, I also believe that everyone deserves a second chance no matter what the person has done in their past or at least a chance to make things right again in their life. If this program only helped one prisoner out of several hundred I would say keep doing it because that one person can have a positive impact on people that could change their lives as well. During the program all of the men said how difficult it was to complete it. That was because they had to dig deep and face whatever demons were
