...CHAPTER 1 THE PROBLEM: Rationale and Background Background of the Study Chickens play an important role in science, recreation, conservation, and agriculture. They are economically significant because of their value as research models, as pets and hobby animals and, of course, for their important role in food production. Chickens are very delicate and need special care in order to survive, grow, and become productive adults. Thinking about what chicks need before they arrive will help ensure a healthy flock of chickens. Chicks need a clean environment that protect them from drafts and keep them at the proper temperature. Their environment must provide them with constant access to food and water, and it should have proper flooring material, and be located in a safe place away from predators. Poultry animals are raised for home use or for profit, especially on a farm. The rearing of poultry and livestock solely as food is costly, because animals are positioned high in the food chain, meaning, that large amounts of energy have been lost en route; more simply, there are more calories in the fodder used to provide meat than in the meat itself. Chickens need different types of feeds at different stages of their growing period. Each different feed provides different levels of nutrients, protein and energy levels which the bird needs at different stages of their life. As the intake of feeds increase, there is also corresponding increase in intake of food supplement. The amount...

...Part A Perceiving through different factors and variables that could have an impact on an organization’s marketing capability, GNC would need to cursorily examine it’s marketing environment. (Evans, M 1988) highlights the rules and regulations, effects of governments, changes in technology and the implications of societal changes as the basis of marketing environment, which ultimately influence impinging on marketing. These forces fall within the macro environment of PESTL frame. As the name indicates, macro environmental factors are the forces prevailing in the external environment of the organisation. Macro environmental variables include political, economical, socio-cultural, technological, and legal forces, having bearing on the industry and business players (Popkin, B.M Duffey, K & Gordon Larsen, P 2005) Business firms and industries have no control over such factors and thus are bound to adapt and act in accordance with macro environmental forces in order to exist and sustain in the marketplace. Thus, these variables would be considered as a ramification to such a supplementary industry, which in this case is “GNC”. POLITICAL: Political factors are one of the major macro environmental force affecting multi vitamin industries and related business firms. It takes into account legislations, market regulations, government stability and trade agreements (Mashhadi, AM & Ijaz-Ur-Rehman, Q 2012). Australian government has formulated quite strict and confined set of regulations...

...Examining the Ethicality of Airborne’s Marketing Strategy Patrick Legendre Business Ethics Prof. Martin Wednesday, October 16, 2013 I. Case Overview Dietary Supplement Industry The growing dietary supplement industry, which includes the hundreds of weight loss and immune support supplements on the market, grosses approximately $20 billion annually (Burke). As established by the Dietary Supplement and Health and Education Act of 1994 (DSHEA), these supplements are not required to undergo testing or receive approvals from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Instead, companies must notify the FDA of all new products and ensure that they are safe for consumers. The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) does not prohibit dietary supplements from claiming health benefits but rather requires thorough clinical trials to support such statements. In 2012, the Department of Health and Human Services investigated 127 supplements and found that 20 percent of them were illegally labeled and lacked the necessary scientific evidence to support the proclaimed health benefits (Ibid). Many of these illegal labels included confirmatory statements on curing or preventing diseases such as diabetes or cancer. The report also revealed that 7 percent of the surveyed supplements did not have the mandatory disclaimer stating that the FDA had not evaluated statements on the label for validity (Ibid). Airborne Case Airborne, a popular vitamin and herbal supplement known for its controversy over preventing...

As you can see, all these aspects play a role and that is only the tip of the inquiry. So how does one weigh the options of accepting a job offer knowing the circumstances in which they lie? I believe this process starts with determining the budget you are on at the moment and being able to make changes to changes in the future. I also believe that doing a financial analysis of the company in which you are potentially joining is critical to ensure your job is secure in the future. Under certain circumstances, the option of taking the job offer placed in front of you will be examined and deemed worthy or not as a job that will suffice for the needs of my family and I....
