Also I want to go to college and being on the advanced honor course is the best way to get in a college. I am very happy with the diploma track that I am on. It is the highest diploma track that I can be on and it gives me a challenge in school. Also it gives me the best chance of getting in the college I want to go to.

...Registered Nurses in the United States. The first degree plan is a diploma nursing degree, which is a 3 year program that focuses on nursing tasks in a hospital setting. It is noted that the diploma nursing program provides the most clock hours of clinical instruction (Hood, 2010, pg. 15). The second degree plan is the associate degree in nursing; this degree focuses on a combination of didactic and clinical skills over a 2 year period. The last degree is the baccalaureate degree in nursing which is a higher level of education in nursing; this includes additional courses in nursing research and community health projects. This paper will give an overview of the differences between the competencies of the associate degree plan versus the baccalaureate trained nurse in the patient care setting. Associate Degree in Nursing The associate degree was originally created to help with the nursing shortage after World War II. The first associate degree nursing program was started by Dr. Mildred Montag in 1952 (Potter & Perry, 2009, pg. 3). The associate degree in nursing is an attractive alternative for many people who decide to go to school to become a nurse. In recent years the ability to obtain a degree in a shorter amount of time and at a lesser cost than a 4 year university has become more advantageous to prospective students. With the evolve of the ADN Registered Nurse to the Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing fast track programs offered, the nurse has the ability to work and support...

Grading Must Be Abilished

...Running Head: Grades in non major courses in U.S colleges and Universities Grades in non major courses in U.S colleges and Universities Mohammad Rahman In India, university students, even undergraduates, focus all of their studies on their major field courses. For example, engineering students take all of their courses, every term, in the school of engineering. However, every undergraduate student at the Strayer University is required to take many courses that have little or no relevance to their field of study. Although students graduates from the university with a broader education as a result of these courses, I believe that the curses should be graded other way, and that the grades for these courses for these courses should not become part of students’ GPAs. Anti-evolution, the rise of pseudo sciences, and the renewed interest in the occult, all masquerading as science, are symptomatic of the poor job that is done explicating science as a process and a way of knowing. Disciplinary teaching emphasizes fact over concept. (Brophy, D.A. (2004) Every science discipline should be taught with a process base pervasive from the first to the last day of the course. Science teaching needs be revamped to provide an integrated, non-redundant exposition of the discipline focused on principles of which the theory of evolution is only one. Science must to be related both to technology and society. Teaching has to be directed to elicit the desired ends of education and not be regarded...

Education or Experience? It Depends.

...Education or Experience? It Depends. Shai Walker Webster University Author Note This paper was prepared for Staffing and Selection HRMG 5800, Section 54, taught by Professor Karns. Abstract Can experience make up for the lack of a degree, or does a degree provide something that experience cannot? Is one more valuable than the other? Talk about a discussion that will have you chasing your tail! It's truly a trap debate because the right answer is "it depends". Whether it's a completely strategic discussion about your organization's policies or a discussion involving a specific position and candidate, this issue continually resurfaces at organizations. And depending on what side of the fence you sit, this issue can be very personal and emotional. Obviously, there are specific cases where the question is debatable. If you need a registered professional engineer to approve plans, the degree requirement is a given. If you're a hospital looking for a surgeon, you're probably seeking someone with a PhD in medicine. However, the scope of positions that may or may not require a degree gets gray pretty fast, and the span is pretty wide. And, no industry is immune to this issue. Keywords: experience, degree, organizations, policies, professional, requirement, industry. Education or Experience? It Depends. Take this scenario: Bob and Joe are both applying for the same job. They each interview well, but Bob has 15 years’ experience and no college degree, and Joe is fresh...

Summary Of Let's Stop Pretending It Is By Michael Petrilli

...College Isn’t for Everyone. Let’s Stop Pretending It Is. by Michael Petrilli gives readers a look at how there are some students that may not benefit from a college education. He writes that the current school of thought is that communities should be preparing all students for college success, whether it be four-year or other post-secondary degree; therefore, the very last thing that should be told to students graduating high school is that they may not succeed in a college setting, even if that were true. He asks, “What if encouraging students to take a shot at the college track – despite very long odds of crossing its finish line – does them more harm than good?” If a student is way behind in reading and math when they graduate high school, they are less likely to succeed where they are expected to succeed in college level courses. “We shouldn’t force anyone into that route, but we also shouldn’t guilt kids with low odds of college success—regardless of their race or class—to keep trudging through...

In one of the large hospitals in my area had recently developed a poster and video approach with special focus on alternatives to urinary catheterization, removing catheters early, and the reinforcement of sterile technique prior insertion and foley catheter care were used to educate nursing staff and improve outcomes. The purpose of this paper is to educate nursing on how to be proactive with this issue and to inform the providers when there is no further need for the catheters to reduce infections in patients. Practice setting problem Urinary tract infections (UTIs) account for approximately 35% of nosocomial infections but are the lowest in mortality and cost (Burke, 2003). Patients with UTIs as a secondary diagnosis have an average length of stay of 9.1 days versus those without a urinary catheter of 4.7 days. As individuals live longer, the probability of them being hospitalized and requiring specialized care services is increased (Hobbs, 2001).
