At the beginning we asked two simple questions before the initiation of the project. First, we asked if people use wireless charging or not, majority of the participants said NO since they were not familiar with wireless charging technology. Then we asked if they would use a lighter portable battery different than PowerBank. This time, majority of the participants said YES. We all want to stay online; it’s a big want-rather than a want nowadays staying online is a need. It’s always preferred to a dead battery. So, we decided to come up with Dispobatt.
What is Dispobatt? It’s a disposable battery for smartphones. It will look like an RFID Tag more or less, a transparent circuit that charges smartphones for the given amount of percentage. You’ll stick it to the rear panel of your device and it will start working, charging your phone immediately. This immediate connection will happen due to the combined use of NFA technology Qi technology together. Now you’ll probably ask what NFA and Qi technologies are.
Well, in the simplest term Near Field Audio™ (NearFA™) is a new wireless audio technology that allows mobile devices to transmit sound to an amplifying speaker within a short distance. Most existing mobile devices such as iPhone, iPod, iPad and Android devices are supported by NearFA™. For instance, it only allows transmitting sounds and needs physical connection.
Qi is an interface standard developed for inductive electrical power transfer over distances of up to 4 cm. The Qi system comprises a power transmission pad and a compatible receiver in a portable device. To use the system, the mobile device is placed on top of the power transmission pad, which charges it via resonant inductive coupling.
Product Features: Those two technologies are open for development. So what we want to do is to combine these two technologies and create a new product, which transmits energy, power to a smartphone battery via a simple physical connection. No Internet connectivity, no wires, no additional apps or devices to carry at hand. It is extremely thin, light and comparatively small. Just buy it, tear it apart from the package and stick it. So simple, so fast and ready to use. Comes out with two options; one refill and two refills. Dispobatt is not rechargeable; it’s for one use only. The name stands for the words “disposable” and “battery” so the name of the product comes from the fusion of these words.
Who will be our competitors? Firstly, PowerBanks of course, since they offer a similar type of a solution towards dead battery problem. Secondly, during our research we found out that there’s another concept design for disposable batteries, which by the way won the 2014 Red Dot Design Award for being the most innovative design. So if they decide to manufacture it, they automatically become our biggest competitor, our rival. To be honest, their design looks prettier. But compared to our design, their product is cost ineffective. Apart from the battery capsule, their product has a usb bulge. If they’re aiming a narrow target market this won’t be a problem but if they’re aiming a significantly larger market just like we do, that design won’t work as cost effective as ours, since our product is composed of one part.
Advantages: Dispobatt is easy to use, you just stick it to the rear panel of your device. Also technology, there’s a rapidly enlarging wireless charging behavior and developing NFA, Qi technologies. Most existing mobile devices are supported by these technologies and the number is increasing day by day. Dispobatt enhances your mobility, doesn’t tie you to sit near-by a power outlet. It’s extremely light; you won’t notice the existence of it. Since we aim mass production, it has to be cheap so it will be cheap. For 1.99 Liras or Dollars you’ll be able to buy the little one and for 2.99 the larger one.
Disadvantages: It’s not durable. When it contacts with water or a liquid it simply won’t work. Since it’s thin, one false move may tear it apart. It’s also flammable when near to fire or high heat. As we discussed in the advantages, current use of the NFA and Qi technologies are limited so it may be a burden for a while. Since we’re aiming mass production, a good operation management, successful retailing is needed so if we fail to choose right places to sell our product or poorly provide logistics, we may face a free fall. Looks and cosmetic issues, some may not want to stick a tag (even though it’s thin) because of cosmetic issues but this has many solutions such as buying a cover etc.
Values: Our core value is convenience. Dispobatt eases the way we deal with dead battery problem, especially when we’re outside. Diğer valuelar doğaçlama anlatılır.
Positioning: We position ourselves at a point between quick and easy and innovative. Yine doğaçlama akar.
Advertising and Promotion Models: Social Media of course, it’s free and interaction there, sharing speed is so fast and tense. Also television advertising, printed media and word of mouth. Since we’re targeting a market that is sufficiently large, the more people see the product or are aware of the product, the more they’ll tend to buy it.
Where to sell: Slide’dan oku. Basically places where human traffic is intense. Crowded areas. Accessibility (one of our values) stands for that.
Budget Allocation: Most of our money will be spent on manufacturing because we’re not selling a service; we’re selling a product. Rest of the budget will be allocated between advertisement and retailing.
Product Concept: And finally, here you see the product concept. A successful innovation, as it is expected, should stand at the intersection of need form and technology. Normally, our product would stay between need and form since none of us have an engineering background or enough experience to produce this kind of a product. But, we had the idea and we loved it and we wanted to stand behind it. And since Dispobatt is an electronic product it also pleases the technology concept. As a result, Dispobatt fits to the intersection area of need, form and technology.

...such as Braun AG (German manufacturer of small appliances), S.T. Dupont (French maker of luxury lighters), Eve of Roma (high-fashion perfume) and Jafra Cosmetics (home sales) and so on. Some of these companies became the victims for the success of future development. Four of these acquisitions proved to be unprofitable or unsuitable and were divested, and the other three yielded low profits by Gillette’s standards. One example is that there is a French manufacturer Bic, which excelled in disposable products. Gillette has a company in the same industry, Paper Mate. The French manufacturer big brought some trouble to the Paper Mate. It s $0.19 disposable stick pens particularly affected the Paper Mate line of refillable pens and drove Paper Mate’s share of the retail ballpoint pen market from over 50 percent down to 13 percent. Although Gillette got a success in building market share when reintroduced to be market in 1975 with heavy price promotions. But the two other products of Bic, its disposable razors and lighters, which were being marketed very successfully in Europe and elsewhere and threatening Gillette’s strengths. And the loss of before is a victim for Gillette. Another thing that Gillette became a victim is about advertising. Schick sued Gillette for misleading claims of technological superiority in its advertising. Schick think that advertisements of Gillette for Mach3 used misleading statements such as “the world’s best shave” and “the best a man can get”. These words...

Nappies Case Study

...Heated debate – disposable vs. reusable nappies; Based on your research and understanding of the story, which of these represent greater harm to the environment? Justify your answer and support it with external source. between 0 and 2.5 year, a child uses about 4500 disposable diapers. (5.5 diapers per day). This situation can make us wonder about the environmental impacts that it implies. To reduce this externality many people use reusable diapers, but are they really better for the environment? While disposable diapers represent a large amount of waste, reusable diapers generate a minimal amount because in 2 ½ years, a child needs about 30 reusable diapers which will be washed 145 times. In contrast, reusable diapers have, other environmental impacts particularly through the consumption of water and energy generated. according to research conducted by (Landbank Consultancy), disposable diapers consume compared to washable diapers: - 3.5 times more energy - 2.3 times more water - 8.3 times more than non-renewable raw materials - 90 times more renewable raw materials In addition, they generate more solid waste 60 times. The Disposable Diaper Industry (cited by Born to Love) also conducted a study about it. For one child, disposable diapers represent - 4,5 trees - 25 kg of plastic, obtained with 67 kg of crude oil - Over 4500 layers thrown in the garbage, which represents 820 kg of waste, From an ecological point of view, the full reports indicate...

...2013 Subject: Cloth Diapers (Green Diapers) There are a number of reasons a new parent should consider cloth over disposable when diapering a baby, including cost, environmental concerns and the obvious and most important reason, the health and comfort of a new parent’s baby. For my research I used Bummis Organics (Bumm Eze) & Fuzzibunz. • Convenience: Using and caring for diapers is surprisingly easy. However, new parents will be doing laundry more often, and can be harder to use when on the go.( New parents will need to tote any soiled cloth diapers back home in a waterproof bags, or do laundry if your away for an extended period of time). • Performance: Cloth diapers keep baby dry and comfortable. They are all Natural and let air get to babies skin. They hold and contain waste comparable to disposable diapers. • Adaptability: Cloth diaper come in many shapes and size. They have leg elastic to hug babies’ legs and prevent leakage. Diapers come pre-folded, flat and contoured. They are durable and strong. They have many absorbent inserts for changing convenience. • Price: Initially cost per unit is more than disposable diapers at $19.95 (FuzziBunz.com, 2014) but long-term price is less. For example Consumer Reports (Diaper buying guide, 2012) estimates that parents can save $1,500.00 to $2,000.00 by using cloth diapers instead of disposables- and cloth diaper retailer (http://www.jilliansdrawes.com/,2013) estimates that parents can save approximately $4,000.00...

As Sony was the lone Betamax producer, you can guess which system they chose.  McDonald's Arch Deluxe In an effort to class up the McDonald's brand, the company created the Arch Deluxe, a product marketed towards adults with more sophisticated palates. Just one problem -- people don't go to McDonald's for sophistication. McDonald's customers know what they want, and what they want is a classic and convenient burger. Needless to say, when the Arch Deluxe debuted in 1996, consumers weren't lovin' it. Bic Underwear Bic has built its brand on the convenience of disposable products. Disposable razors? Disposable lighters? Convenient and affordable. Disposable underwear? Just plain weird. Other than the disposability factor, consumers could not find a link between the underwear and Bic's other products. With out a unifying factor, people were just confused. In addition, the idea of buying intimate attire from a company that also produces pens apparently does not appeal to most women.  Apple Newton Arguably ahead of its time, Apple debuted this PDA device in 1993. The Newton faded away in 1998...

...for the home. Baby-Lite™ was a home version of Alpha-Lite™, which weighed about 40 pounds and could be rented for about $75 a day. This was much less than a hospital bill and your baby could stay in the comfort of your own home. TenderCare™. RMM designed a disposable diaper, which seemed to have one main advantage on the rest of the competition. Just under the liner of the TenderCare™ diaper, was a wicking fabric the draws moisture from the surface around a soft, waterproof shield to an absorbent reservoir of filler. This would keep the baby’s skin dry and in turn, would prevent rash. RMM seemed to have a good hold on the phototherapy market at this time. The problem was only 5 to 10 percent of infants would experience jaundice. This rate would only fall with new advancements in the medical world. They needed a more stable market. Now, RMM is faced with a big decision to make. Should RMM stay in the familiar market of phototherapy, or take a chance with their new product, TenderCare™, in the disposable diaper market. If the elect to do so, they would be going up against larger companies like Procter & Gamble (P & G) and Kimberly – Clark (K-C). Vinegar as Alternative Battery

...Introduction A simple battery can be constructed with a cup, a copper strip, and a zinc strip. Attach wires to each strip and place them in the cup. Place the strips in the cup and add either Coca Cola or vinegar to the cup. If a voltage meter is placed across the leads, it will show between 0.75 and 1.0 volts. More voltage can be created by adding several of these cells in series. Vinegar is a liquid consisting mainly of acetic acid (CH3COOH) and water. The acetic acid is produced by the fermentation of ethanol by acetic acid bacteria. Vinegar is now mainly used as a cooking ingredient, but historically, as the most easily available mild acid, it had a great variety of industrial, medical, and domestic uses, some of which (such as a general household cleanser) are still promoted today. Commercial vinegar is produced either by fast or slow fermentation processes. In general, slow methods are used with traditional vinegars, and fermentation proceeds slowly over the course of months or a year. The longer fermentation period allows for the accumulation of a nontoxic slime composed of acetic acid bacteria. Fast methods add mother of vinegar to the source liquid before adding air using a venturi pump system or a turbine to promote oxygenation to obtain the fastest fermentation. In fast production processes, vinegar may be produced in a period ranging from 20 hours to three days. An electric battery is a device consisting of one or more electrochemical cells that convert stored...
