When the earth first appeared it was rich with pure elements. The elements swirled throughout the planet and interacted with one another causing thousands of different reactions.

One fateful day, a group of highly reactive elements with common physical properties, organized themselves together to preserve themselves. The elements made an unusual shape together. The first earth being had been created. However, even though the being had the body of the human, It was not human because It had alkaline earth metals flowing throughout Its body.

Fast forward several eons...It lives in Los Angeles and is an oncologist at the largest and most advanced research center in the world. It, because he looks like a human assimilated perfectly into society …show more content…
The elements in Dr. Rad are not harmful to humans, except for radium which is radioactive. Since radium is radioactive and the other elements in his body oxidized in oxygen, Dr. Rad had to make sure none of the elements leaked from his body. However, Dr. Rad could create radon gas using radium to treat his patients.

Far far away...at the center of the Solar system, sits the sun and its supreme leader -- Sol. Sol is an ambitious leader who desires to infiltrate all the planets in the universe with boiling heat and perpetual flames. He wants to build an empire of Sols. He sends his elite Flame Troopers throughout the universe to conquer planets. Each of the Flame Troopers are sent to a planet with a machine that creates a solar shield around the planet to heat it up and change the planet into another sun.

On earth...people are enjoying the beauty and fresh air of Santa Monica Beach--children build sandcastles, people run in the sand, and others …show more content…
He hears yelling and car sirens. Dr. Rad looks out his window and sees abandoned cars parked haphazardly in the street and people running.

Something was wrong. Dr. Rad had to help. As a doctor it was his duty, but he was more than a doctor. Dr. Rad was a superhero. Beast is the only one who can destroy Sol-dier and his machine.

Dr. Rad ripped open his lab coat revealing a silver suit with a giant BE in the middle of his chest which was a symbol for Beast, his superhero persona.

Beast’s beryllium suit protects the alkaline earth metals from oxidizing in oxygen. He is not afraid of the heat because his suit can endure temperatures over one thousand degrees. Beast has the ability to control electricity and shoot flares and different colored flames from his body. Beast is also quick.

As Beast approached Sol-dier’s landing site he saw plants bursting into flames. When Beast notices a building melting, he knows he has almost reached Sol-dier.

Within no time Beast arrives at Santa Monica Beach. There, he sees Sol-dier operating the machine. Beast does not have a lot of time to stop

Adoption

...Adoption: The Negative Emotional Impact of Adoption Research Writing   Introduction Growing up there is one point in time when all children wish they had different parents or wished they could be adopted by adults who are “cool, understandable, and rich” because out parents seemed to always find a way to ruin our lives. Unfortunately this is no wish for some children, being adopted by strangers is some children’s reality. Adoption is viewed as a lifetime commitment to raise babies or children who are not biologically yours into the best person they can be. People who adopt get that great sense of satisfaction that they reached out and changed a person’s life. Even though the adopters get that great sense of satisfaction, no one stops to think about the hurt and negative emotions that the adoptee may feel in regards to their adoption. Adoption can have a harmful negative reaction impact on the adoptees as they go through their journey of life. I believe that even though there are negative emotions that come with adoption there are some solutions such as therapy to cope with the emotions. Review of the Literature The emotional effect adoption can have on a child is a problem in society today. Researchers show there are different aspects of adoption people need to understand and different ways to cope with adoptees and the emotional hurt they feel. ...Presented at the DLSU Research Congress 2014 De La Salle University, Manila, Philippines March 6-8, 2014 Community-Based Decision Support System for the Manila Health Department Heidelle Marie Jahnelle Cervantes1, Calvin Chua2, Meladaine Ronquillo3, Iñaki Julian Tolentino4 and Ms. Lissa Andrea K. Magpantay1,* De La Salle University, IT Department lissa.magpantay@delasalle.ph Abstract: Decision Support Systems are used extensively in different industries to assist in decision-making across a wide spectrum of problem areas. These systems are being developed with much consideration of its enormous benefits, both in time and cost savings, and most especially in helping organizations in their decision making. The researchers have identified the main problem of the Planning and Coordination Unit in the Manila Health Department (MHD) which is its poor use of information resulting to wrong identification of specific programs for the communities of Manila City. This results to the difficulty of health centers in identifying what barangays need to be prioritized and what nutritional programs have to be implemented. The objective of the study is to develop a community-based decision support system which is web-based that helps MHD in planning and implementing nutrition and health programs to the community in District V of Manila City. Rapid Application Development (RAD) methodology was used to develop the system and PHP, HTML, and My SQL were used as the primary programming language...

Past, Present and Future of Law Enforcement

...Past, Present and Future of Law Enforcement INTRODUCTION To be an effective police/law enforcement officer, one must understand where we (law enforcement) has been, where society believes we are and what the heck is going to happen in the future. Unfortunately the future is much more depressing than in the past. Society is getting more liberal with how the Constitution is viewed and applied towards suspects. The author posits that not to far into the distant future officers will need probable cause to make a consenual contact. But connecting the dots is important because it provides clarity, and understanding to a profession that once was considered a volunteer job in which the primary duties was to ensure that criminals did not come into the town at night. PAST Thus when the new officer hits the streets, they think the “old salt” officers are unaware of the “new” and improved ways of policing. However if anyone reviews Sir Robert Peels policing notions not much has changed in how police officers should effectively patrol, and protect the communities they serve. The past also includes community oriented policing, and problem oriented policing. There are trends like Killing and Wilsons Broken Windows that will never go away. But there are also eras of law enforcement. PRESENT The present is not readily observable because the career track is working within a specific time frame. However a couple of authors (scholars) have debated and postulated that law enforcement...

Royal Jelly Experiment Procedure

...Experimental Procedures Larval Studies The larvae were acquired from the Honey Bee Research Center located near the University of Guelph. Prior to obtaining the larvae, two 24-well plates were prepared with 300 µL of royal jelly solution. This mixture contained 43.2 mL of Milli-Q water, 14.4 g of lyophilized royal jelly, 1.8 g of glucose, 1.8 g of fructose and 0.6 g of yeast extract. It was stirred in a suitable sized beaker for approximately sixty minutes. Then it was poured into screw-cap veils once it reached a smooth consistency and stored at 4°C until needed. The grafting process consisted of obtaining a frame from one of the hives with larvae at the Honey Bee Research Center. In order to protect the larvae from environmental factors, the frame was wrapped with a towel before the grafting process ensued. With a small grafting tool, the larvae were individually scooped out of the comb on the frame. The larvae were placed into one of the each wells on the twenty-four well plate to float on the royal jelly solution (Figure 9). This was conducted cautiously to ensure that the larva did not flip over since oxygen intake occurs only on one its sides. Once the twenty-four well place...

...There is no IT meeting that does not talk and debate endlessly about Waterfall vs. Agile development methodologies.  Feelings run strong on the subject with many considering Agile ‘so of the moment’, just so right, while Waterfall is thought to be passé!  But, before deciding which is more appropriate, it is essentially important to provide a little background on both. Waterfall A classically linear and sequential approach to software design and systems development, each waterfall stage is assigned to a separate team to ensure greater project and deadline control, important for on-time project delivery.  A linear approach means a stage by stage approach for product building, e.g. 1.      The project team first analyses, then determining and prioritising business requirements / needs. 2.      Next, in the design phase business requirements are translated into IT solutions, and a decision taken about which underlying technology i.e. COBOL, Java or Visual Basic, etc. etc. is to be used. 3.      Once processes are defined and online layouts built, code implementation takes place. 4.      The next stage of data conversion evolves into a fully tested solution for implementation and testing for evaluation by the end-user. 5.      The last and final stage involves evaluation and maintenance, with the latter ensuring everything runs smoothly. However, in case a glitch should result, changing the software is not only a practical impossibility, but means one has to go right back to the beginning...

...energy storage capacity of battery used in electric vehicle is very low compare to conventional fuels used in modern automobiles. The operation, performance and efficiency of motor driven electric vehicles are much better than engine driven vehicles, at the same time electric vehicles are very much environment friendly. Still electric vehicles are falling behind in the automobile industries due to the problem of storage of energy. This paper is based on the concept of charging the batteries of an electric vehicle when it is in motion or propelling. This may be done by using the energy of wind which is caused by the relative motion between the vehicle and the wind surrounding it. Wind turbines can be mounted on the body structure of the vehicle to generate electricity in such a way that it must not create any additional drag force (rather than the existing drag force due to frontal area and skin friction) upon the vehicle. An elaborate aerodynamic analysis of the structure of the vehicle along with the flow pattern and wind turbine is presented in the paper. Some techniques and methods are proposed to minimize the drag imposed by the introduction of the turbines as much as possible. Optimum values of different design parameters and rated velocity of...

Submitted by: _________________________Date: _______________ Approved by: ___________________________ Date: _______________ ABSTRACT Information systems’ planning is often costly to implement and maintain; however, sound planning practices may reduce expenses associated with the development processes. A Formal methodical approach to systems analysis, requirements engineering, systems design, development, and construction may offer a reduction in development and certain aspects of life cycle support expenses. Corporate expenses may reach approximately 5% of their gross income on information systems development and support. This equates to approximately $15,000,000 to $35,000,000 annually (Whitemarsh Information Systems Corp. 2008, p.). Information systems may cost significantly less. In comparison, information systems, contingent upon other factors such as size of the company, and complexity of the information system cost may range anywhere from $2,000,000 to $10,000...

Determination of Insecticidal Activity of Kenyan Bt Isolates Against the Spotted Stem Borer, Chilo Partellus

...Determination of insecticidal activity of Kenyan Bt isolates against the spotted stem borer, Chilo partellus Kimani1,2 G, Nyambaka2 H, Gichuki1, S, Amata1, R, M. Okomo1 and Kasina1 M 1 Kenya Agricultural Research Institute, NARL. P.O. Box 14733-00800 Nairobi 2 Chemistry Department, Kenyatta University, Correspondence: kasina.j@gmail.com 2 Abstract The delta – endotoxin crystals containing insecticidal Cry proteins were isolated from 20 unidentified local Bacillus thuringiensis Berliner (Bt) isolates and a reference isolate Bt aizawai (Bta) using froth floatation and low speed centrifugation at KARI Biotechnology laboratories, NARL. The total protein was quantified using the Bradford assay method and protein yield from the nutrient broths was estimated at 3.11 mg/ml ±0.938 mg/ml of nutrient broth culture with a purity level of 54.8% ±15.3% of the protein pellet. Leaf – dip bioassay was used to determine the efficacy of the isolates against Chilo Partellus (Swinhoe), a wellestablished and invasive stem borer in Kenya. Among the isolates, Bt 44 and Bt 48 had the most potent endotoxin crystals to 1st instar C. partellus larvae. In addition, the efficacy of these two isolates was not statistically different (P>0.05) from that of Bta based on LT50 values. The findings show that these two locally available unidentified Bt isolates could be used in management of C. partellus and their characterisation (Cry protein) could aid in their utilization. Key...

Globalization

...Chapter I The Problem and Its Background Introduction Globalization has practically changed societies all over the world. It has paved the way for the so called “borderless economy”. With the advent of the Internet, the role of information has dramatically changed the way people live and do business. As Naval points out in her paper, an immense reduction of time and space barriers among great nations is made possible through interconnectivity. She illustrated that such interconnections result to global transactions being done in the comfort zones of one’s home. This characteristic of the Information Age provides for accessibility to vast reservoirs of knowledge, which is power. 1 It is for this reason that all nations all over the world are adopting ICT-based solutions to address their information needs in this modern era of knowledge explosion. In the Philippines, the government anticipated the importance of Information Technology (IT) as early as the Ramos administration. Ramos in his speech at the First Information Technology and Telecommunications Education Congress outlined the National Information Technology Plan (NITP) of the government. He stressed that IT must be applied to the education sector as a means for national strengthening.2 In 1997, the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) reported that the General Appropriations Act of the previous year provided some funds for the CHED-SUCs computerization program.
