...Professor Harding October 3, 2014 As the practice manager at Dr. Nugget’s obstetrics and gynecology (OB-GYN) medical practice, I have created a huge dilemma, and an unethical decision to take the patient’s medical records home. But, this is all started with Dr. Nugget also making an unethical decision to participate in abortion procedures. which he advertises that he would never condone such a practice. And his patients and medical practice are built on his so strong abortion beliefs. But this was all a lie. Putting aside my personal feelings about abortion, I feel Dr. Nugget lying about his beliefs on abortion, and standing by them so strongly, is the major issue in the case. Also, Dr. Nugget is a shareholder in the abortion clinic where he sends patient referrals quite often. But the case is also built on my wrong doing by taking a patient’s medical records out of the clinic and to my home, which is a Health Information Portability Accountability Act (HIPAA) violation. And then when having company over to my house for a visit, I left the medical records in plain view on my dinner table, for anyone to see, which did occur. My visitor then reads a medical chart on his ex-girlfriend. Then the medical information on that patient becomes public in the local newspaper. The patient is outraged, which she has a right to be. As the practicing manger of medical clinic, I did not handle the situation with Dr. Nugget’s false advertisement of condoning abortion in his clinic,...

...“The Lasting Power of Dr. King’s Dream Speech.” - Michiko Kakutani “Obama is not Black like Dr. King.” - Chrystal Wright 1. If I Google Michiko Kakutani, words such as: the worst critic and top meanest reviews come up. Michiko Kakutani is known for her harsh literary critiques on books. She is a graduate of Yale University and has many years of working experience with the New York Times, Time Magazine, and Washington Post. Therefore giving her a substantial amount of credit when she makes any comment towards any literary work. Crystal Wright, a triple minority: black, a woman, and Republican. Also very well educated. She received her Bachelor’s degree from Georgetown University and Masters from Virginia Commonwealth University. She is known as a columnist and political commentator. These characteristics are very important to know when understanding the message sender of each article. 2. During the article, Michiko describes what happened during the March on Washington. She describes the event, its purpose, and how the event fifty years later, still has effect on society. During the article, she crosses the point that Dr. King knew it would not be easy to meet ends with social injustice and the economic hardships experienced by many, but did not foresee a black president celebrating the fiftieth anniversary of his speech. This brings me to Crystal Wright whom has received public attention for her article in regards to the March on Washington. Which I would personally...

I think that I can characterize the carbonated soft drink like this, most innovate beverage until now. Also the carbonated soft drinks have incredibly addictive like drugs or cigarette. I also love coke and always drink when I eat the food. The three companies; Coca-Cola, Pepsi-Cola, Dr Pepper/Seven Up companies hold most of percentage which people drink carbonated soft beverage. Coca-Cola is most famous and favorite company with 44.1% market share and Pepsi-Cola have 31.4%, Dr Pepper/Seven Up Company have 14.7% in 2000. 2. The Squirt brand don’t have many market share percent in U.S. Because Coca-Cola and Pepsi-Cola or other big companies have more customer preferences. However, relate with fruits carbonated drinks, the Squirt company is number 1 brand in the U.S. Squirt have high market share with carbonated grapefruit soft drink brand. 3. The pros of continuing the present market targeting and positioning is that people might think like “this company have consistency”. The Squirt don’t have bad image from customers, so it would be fine. The cons of continuing the present strategy is that company can’t grow up in the future, because it doesn’t have any change or developing for customer and it will make the same market share. The pros of adopting the recommendation made by FCB is that company can get more preferences or positive response from...

...backdrop for the debate about roles of people in society. Ibsen uses the minor character, Dr. Rank, to help develop the theme of conflicts within society. This, in turn, creates connections with the plot. Dr. Rank's function in the play is to foreshadow, symbolize, and reflect upon the truth of life and society and to break down the barrier between appearance and reality. One function of Dr. Rank in the play is to foreshadow events to come. Upon Rank's introduction in Act I, the reader is immediately given insight into the conflict Nora will face with Krogstad. Rank provides the reader with minute details into Krogstad's past that will help in understanding his desperate blackmail attempt. The reader can begin to see this in Rank's statement to Nora and Mrs. Linde: "Oh, it's a lawyer, Krogstad, a type you wouldn't know. His character is rotten to the root--but even he began chattering all-importantly about how he had to live" (1574). Rank also foreshadows the change of society that is a constant throughout the play. One can begin to see this foreshadowing in the statement Rank makes about the morally sick being forgiven, "That's the concept that's turning society into a sanatorium" (1574). Through these insights, Dr. Rank provides the reader with an ability to form opinions important to the plot. Ibsen also uses Rank as a symbolic tool, enabling the reader to look deeper into the plot. Dr. Rank is used as a symbol of a dying society as the main characters in the play portrayed...

...unsophisticated of readers. To help explain and explore what stood out I will review the paragraph that stood out for me. Secondly, my life experiences juxtaposed to my understanding of the book, and finally discuss why this paragraph stood out for me. It was quite a difficult task choosing a paragraph, but eventually found myself recalling Candor and Maturity throughout my reading. The author talks about many leadership qualities, but seems to touch on Condor and the relation to good leadership. Condor is an interesting word that I have associated with leadership, but never on this scale “Candor is the key to self knowledge” (Bennis, 2009, pg. 34). This very simple sentence carried a lot of weight of my understanding of leadership. Dr. Bennis moved on to discuss maturity of leadership, by writing; “Maturity is important to a leader because leading is not simply showing the way or issuing orders. Every leader needs to have experienced and grown through following- learning to be dedicated, observant, capable of working with and learning from others, never servile, always truth-full. Having located these qualities in themselves, leader can encourage them in others” (Bennis, 2009, pg. 35). This really stood out because the entire book seems to be circling this paragraph, while looking at different leaders of our time. I grew up in Nairobi, Kenya for 17 years, before coming to the United States in 1997, to continue my aeronautical studies at CSP- Los Angeles. I was...

...I will be analyzing the poem "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" by Dr. Suess using the Marxist critic school of thought. Marxist Criticism is based on the theories of Karl Marx and is looked at the assembly of literary texts which is mostly about class differences along with socio-economic conditions. In the poem "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" if you take a look at it and analyze it carefully, you can see the differences in classes can be spotted easily. To begin with, it should be obvious that Dr. Seuss, was of middle class himself. He was the son of a successful brewmaster and was successful himself in his occupation of cartoonist and author. The Grinch on the other hand was of the lower class, he lived in the middle of nowhere and is an outcast to everyone else around him. While the Grinch was all upset, the Whos were within Whoville living pleasantly and celebrating Christmas. The Grinch hates the idea of Christmas because the presents and the food show that the Whos have money that they can spend without worry. Also all the Whos are happy and the Grinch doesn't think that it's fair, which is why he tries to ruin Christmas for them, he feels that they should suffer jbecause his life is miserable and he's suffering himself. He steals all their food and presents, as well and destroyed their Christmas decorations and the Christmas trees in Whoville. Later on in the poem, the Grinch is shown that Christmas isn't just about materialistic things, he stated that "Every Who down in...

...“Dr. Death” Sydney Speight English B Jack Kevorkian originally wanted to be a baseball radio broadcaster, but his Armenian immigrant parents felt that he should have a more promising career. So he became a doctor, specializing in pathology. Kevorkian worked primarily with deceased people, performing autopsies in order to study the essential nature of diseases. Kevorkian was born on May 28, 1928, in Pontiac, Michigan. He was raised in an Armenian, Greek, and Bulgarian neighborhood. Kevorkian attended the University of Michigan medical school and graduated in 1952. Kevorkian initially received his nickname, "Dr. Death," for his pioneering medical experiments in the 1950's. He photographed the eyes of dying patients in order to determine the exact time of death. As Kevorkian witnessed the suffering of terminally ill patients, he became convinced that they had a moral right to end their lives when the pain became unbearable, and that doctors should assist in this process. To that end, he designed and constructed a machine that started a harmless saline intravenous drip into the arm of a person wishing to die. When the patient was ready, he or she would press a button that would stop the flow of the harmless solution and begin a new drip of thiopental. “This chemical would put the patient into a deep sleep, then a coma. After one minute, the timer in the machine would send a lethal dose of potassium chloride into the patient's arm, stopping the heart in minutes...

...Professor: Enc 1102; MWF 9:00am 4/8/10 Dr. Seuss Theodor Seuss Geisel, known by his friends and family as Ted and better know by the world as Dr. Seuss, was born on March 2, 1904 in Springfield, Massachusetts. He was born to Theodor Robert and Henrietta Seuss Geisel. His family was very financially successful until Prohibition and World War I halted their success. His father and grandfather were brew masters in the city and the threats of prohibition caused them some financial hardships. Despite the financial bump in the road, Ted and his sister Marnie had a very loving family and an enjoyable childhood. In Ted’s early years his mother would recite to him chants she made up at her job in a bakery during her youth. Dr. Seuss later gave credit to his mother “for the rhythms in which I write and the Urgency with which I do it.” (Morgan) After high school Ted attended Dartmouth College where he experienced the life of a typical college student. Through hard work he became the editor in chief of Jack-O-Lantern, the humor magazine sold by the college. Not long after earning this position he managed to lose it for partying a little too hard. He and his roommate were caught drinking with ten other students in their dorm room at the Randall House. This party violated the laws of prohibition and the policies of the school and was not taken well since the incident happened the night before Easter Sunday. Ted continued to write for the magazine despite losing his position as editor...

...British Literature Is Dr. Faustus a Magician or is he a scientist? Dr. Faustus is a fascinating character, mainly because he is easily misunderstood. He makes lots of astonishing things happen throughout the text but leaves the reader wondering whether these mysterious acts are rooted in science or magic. Throughout my reading, I changed my mind constantly on whether these strange occurrences were a result of magical powers or just scientific discoveries. There are three specific things he does that made me feel like it was more than science behind his actions. First, he uses trickery throughout the story. Second, there are numerous magical events presented throughout the story. And lastly, he sold his soul to Lucifer that helped him gain the powers of which he uses, so that especially makes me feel that it is not science behind his actions. This last example ultimately helped me to come to the decision that Dr. Faustus is a magician and not a scientist. Dr. Faustus sells his soul to Lucifer in exchange for the assurance that the devil will continuously be at his beck and call. Now, with this newfound power that he obtained, he began to travel. His first stop was the Pope’s court in Rome. After he makes himself invisible, he plays a series of tricks! The invisibility, as well as the tricks, were both sheer signs of magic, and not science! He does this as a sort of prank; he is trying to aggravate people using his tricks. Another occurrence in the text that helped me make...

Diaz ISSC363 Dr. Tannoury December 28th, 2013 Diaz 2 Technology refers to, the making, usage, modification, and size of machines, tools, methods applied by an order when dealing with problems. It also applies to methods applied when improving an already existing solution and when performing a duty or achieving a goal. The superficial IT evolution can be said to be preceded by hand and print revolutions. All the things that one can now handle within a short spun of time just by the click of a button is quite different from the past. Systems like phones, computers and other electronic devices can carry out a bunch of work just by the click of the correct button within a minimum duration unlike in the past. They have made the lives of young people comfortable and swifter, as explained by Keith (100). Modern technology has led to globalization. This has made the world smaller. It has allowed the world’s economy to be a separate business unit. This business unit is interdependent. The Internet, televisions, and cell phones are enlightening socialization by making both positive and negative impacts on the lives of children. Internet is the first group having enormous influence in technology. It has changed how people communicate, when they talk, where they relate from and the frequency at which they do so.
