When I began my senior year at Independence I didn’t know what to expect going into the ERWC class. I didn’t know anything about the class besides it being English and required. I assumed the class was going to be a normal English class with boring reading and writing from a giant textbook. As I made progression in the class throughout the school year I realized there's more to ERWC than a giant textbook. We used many different types of engaging modules with topics relatable and debatable. With these modules I was able to pick up different reading and writing abilities from each one. I learned that ERWC meant Effective Expository Reading and Writing Curriculum. The course would teach me the integration of interactive reading and writing processes. I found that the overall structure of the modules was well thought out. The prereading addresses the topic very detailed while trying to get you to incorporate your life. It gets my mind running and thinking about questions for the reading ahead. The reading allows you to gather all types of different information for your writing. While the post reading allows you to reflect and question what you just read about. One of the modules that I found to be most effective to me was What’s next? Life After High School. This module kept me engaged because I eat food every day. Since I eat everyday I wanted to know where my food is coming from and what could kill me. I liked this module because we were able to get into groups and do research on how to get healthy lunches for public schools. During the research of the project it kept me on my toes and curious to find out how we could do it for our own school. This food module also allowed us to watch a movie about where our food comes from. It was really pleasing to watch since I love movies in class. The movie was very powerful and showed me the food industry I never could have
