For years Hotel California has reminded people of the Eagles song Hotel California and the Eagles have denied that the Hotel is connected to their song. The Eagles claimed that the hotel leads consumers to believe that it is associated with the song and it was the inspiration for the lyrics, which are untrue. Their marking materials make the associating between that two and they add that they do not have an association with the band. The article included that people have stated that they believed that they were staying in the actual hotel from the song.
Trademark infringement: The hotel led people to think it was the hotel from the song and didn’t correct them. The statements from the people who stayed at the hotel can be used as evidence

...Ryan Stanley May 28th, 2015 Art History period 4 Music as Art Essay Hotel California – The Eagles Hotel California is a song created by the band, “The Eagles” in 1977. Members of the band include Don Fedler, Don Henley, and Glenn Frey. Don Henley is the lead vocalist on the original recording of the song and it ends with an extended section of electric guitar played by both Fedler and Frey. The meaning of the song has many different interpretations, such as a connection to Satanism, psychiatric hospitals, and cocaine addictions, while the members of the band claim that it is a depiction of their experience of “the high life” in Los Angeles. Through the lyrics, vocals, and music in the song Hotel California, it describes the excess of sex,...

An Analysis of Hotel California and American Pie

...“American Pie” and “Hotel California” Perhaps no other song better expresses the overall attitude of the United States (U.S.) in the 1970s than Don McLean’s “American Pie”. Released in November 1971, the song is still considered one of the greatest songs in U.S. history. Additionally, the Eagles’ song “Hotel California”, released in 1976, also exemplifies American culture during the turbulent decade of the 70s. “American Pie” is, for lack of a better word, a long song, with a run time of over eight minutes. The song consists of seven verses, as well as a chorus which is repeated seven times. The song begins with McLean’s voice over a piano. When the opening verse ends, the piano becomes less relevant in the song, and an acoustic guitar becomes the predominant instrument. The song employs a standard AABA structure, alternating between choruses and verses, except at the end, when the chorus is repeated, with the second iteration acting as the coda. Like most popular songs of the 70s, The Eagles’ rock epic “Hotel California” is written in a verse/chorus format. It contains four verses, two iterations of the chorus, a coda, and a lengthy guitar solo to end the song. The standard Eagles’ instrumental setup for the song includes drummer Don Henley singing, as well as playing the drums. Joe Walsh, Don Felder, and Glen Frey play guitars, and bassist Randy Meisner plays the bass. All four offer backup vocals during the chorus. It is safe to say that both songs are considered...

Prosperous but Destructive

...early 1977 . “California Hotel” is a song produced by the Eagles, in the 1970's. Similar to many other songs and articles, “California Hotel” talks about the lifestyle these artists encountered after settling in California. To many people, living in California was a dream. In “Golden State, Golden Youth” Kirse Granat May states,“To those who followed the rush to gold, California remained unique: a place to regain health, live on the frontier, build a railroad, exploit agricultural possibilities, discover oil, or make fortunes in real estate. For newcomers, it was still the land of the second chance, glowing with opportunity amidst sunshine.” The Eagles were a band that moved to california to pursue their dreams, just like millions of people across the world. These artists heard many rumors about the endless money, women, and fame thats awaiting for them in the golden state, so they took their chances. Unlike many people which moved to california, their dreams of money and fame came true. But what they didn't know is that everything comes with a price. The lifestyle that came with that much fame and money, was a life style that had no true love, only meaningless sex, drug abuse, and an unethical life. After these artists discovered the true life of a Californian star, they wished they have never came; they tried to escape the life they were living but it was too late and they couldn't. The introduction of this song was very detailed and I think self explanatory. The Eagles try to make...

Hotel California

...The Eagles have produced many popular musical hits within the century. One of their most popular and recognized songs is “Hotel California.” However, there is still much stir today over what the song is actually intended to mean. There have been many speculations as to the meaning of the song, such as a trip to jail and the American dream. I disagree with these interpretations and argue that Hotel California is about the trials and tribulations of a drug addict. In the opening stanza, Don Henley, the lead singer of The Eagles, describes his path as “dark” with cold wind running through his hair. This road lay through the desert during the evening. As he is walking on this road, he can smell the “warm smell of colitas” in the air when suddenly he can see a shimmering light at the other end of the road. Since Henley had been walking down this “dark” road for an extended period of time, he feels he must rest and decides to spend the night at a hotel. It is here where he meets a young woman. This young woman both intrigues and ignites something inside of him. Still unsure if running away with this woman is a good or bad idea, he decides to follow her where she is leading him. A dark road is often referred to in the song Hotel California. The pathway is seen as dark because it was Henley's life before he dabbled into drugs. This was a long and lonely road insinuated by the way he describes the road as it lays in the desert. This period was the time he was in the...

Sonic Highways Evaluation

...Vanessa Zsorey Dr. McCort College Comp 11 December 2015 Sonic Highways A band lasting as long as twenty years in the music industry with their original sound not suffering is a rarity. The Foo Fighters, led by the legendary Dave Grohl, are magnificent rockers who throughout two decades, continue to stay relevant in many ways. Throughout these twenty years they have released nine albums, each of which contained some of the biggest alternative rock hits of all time. Though they may not be riding the radio waves constantly or may only appeal to a shrinking audience, their craft has never once suffered. Their newest album, Sonic Highways, is pure proof that the Foo Fighters continuously try to push themselves out of their comfort zones in order to remain interesting to their fans. Sonic Highways was the most recent project the Foo Fighters have put out and the most creative of the past eight albums. The process to create this album was far more in depth and unique compared to the traditional methods. Typically, when a band decides they want to record, they find the closest studio that is in their price range and is the best quality necessary to fit the project. Mixing the recordings has gotten incredibly easy in recent times, where all that is really necessary is the ProTools program. With Protools, any errors can easily be cleaned and corrected, then moved on to the master CD and sent off to be pressed. A decade ago, recording and mixing were not nearly as simple or cheap...

...August the 2nd 1990 Saddam Hussains forces crashed the defenses of oil rich Kuwait in fear of an Iraqi invasion into Saudi Arabia. The United States and her coalition allies poured into the Arabian Peninsula to form a deterrent that would be known as Desert Shield. The result was a series of diplomatic talks, negotiations and count negotiations that rapidly declined into a no hope situation. On August the 17th 1991 the Desert Shield became Desert Storm. The conflict was witnessed by millions through the IF, CNN and the BBC showing propaganda of the systematic eradication of Saddam's forces by a coalition far superior in technological, political and economic power. However what was little known was that from the outset the war was engineered, controlled and manipulated by an elite group. A group which had created the illusion of a man with power at the head of a million strong army on the verge of going nuclear. A man who had gained control of the 1/5 of the World's oil overnight. However in reality he was merely a pawn in amongst many pawns. Just a puppet in a grand master plan with the Gulf War as a well orchestrated stepping stone. The orchestrates of the War were by no means strangers to controlling major World events. In fact they have done so for centuries.  From the shadows they have engineered every major war, revolution and recession. They control everything you read, everything you hear and everything you see. They have managed to indoctrinate an entire populace...

Jazz in America

...tool, it can bring people together, it can make two people hate each other and in some instances it can put words into your head without you even knowing (ie. Hotel California- The Eagles). Music is something that nearly everybody listens to anywhere from church hymns to the ear splitting dubstep music that sounds like Autobots and Decepticons fighting. Since it is so universal that means that it could have a large impact on every population. I shouldn’t use the word could, it has impacted history already as it is. In my paper I will prove this by showing you that the invention of jazz music effected World War II enough to push us onto the winning side of the war. Imagine a time when the United States only consisted of nineteen states, and James Monroe has just been elected president. This time would be the year 1817 and it was also the year that the world of jazz would begin. I use the word begin in a very loose way, because jazz music didn’t just pop out of the ground one day. What I am referring to is that in New Orleans in 1817 Congo Square was designated as the official site for slave music and dance. This was what began what lead up to become jazz music. The music itself wasn’t started until at the very earliest 1892 when African American artist, Tommy Turpin writes what is considered to be the first ragtime song on his piano. [2] Ragtime music is a music style that would eventually turn into Jazz. It started around the beginning of the twentieth century and continued...

Blues vs. Country Music

...and country are first cousins ... What I look for in a song is for the story to be for real. I like a blood and guts kind of thing. That's what you find in the lyrics of country music." Blues and country music both developed in the 19th century in the Southern United States. They share a similar history. For this reason, they share many of the same musical and lyrical characteristics. Read more: How to Compare Blues & Country Music | eHow.com http://www.ehow.com/how_5888119_compare-blues-country-music.htInstructions 1. * 1 Learn the history behind blues and country music. They are both forms of American folk music influenced by earlier styles brought overseas. Blues music grew out of field hollers and chants sung by African slaves. Irish and Scottish balladeers borrowed the guitar and banjo of blues and thus created "country". According to Reebee Garofalo in "Rockin' Out: Popular Music in the USA", "Terms like country and blues are only used to separate the same kind of music made by blacks and whites ... designations like race and hillbilly intentionally separated artists along racial lines and conveyed the impression that their music came from mutually exclusive sources." Country is an offshoot of blues. They are essentially the same thing. In the PBS special, "Rhythm, Country and Blues," country is referred to as "white man's blues." * 2 Listen to the instrumentation in country and blues songs. They share many of the same instruments. These include...
