1980s

By 1985, Dr. Swanson (who by then was a professor of electrical engineering at Stanford) had been awarded grants from the Electric Power Research Institute and the U.S. Department of Energy to support his solar power explorations. With the help of these funds – as well as financial support from two venture capital firms – SunPower was officially incorporated.

1970s

Our record of solar innovation began nearly four decades ago, when our co-founder, Dr. Richard Swanson, was pondering ways to deal with the oil crisis. At that time, solar cells were being used on satellites, a concept he found intriguing. His engineering challenge was to figure out how to make the cells more cost-effective. So he began a quest that, almost 40 years later, has helped position SunPower as a leader in residential, commercial and utility-scale solar power production.

Stress

...events is the vital stressor for stress and everyone is susceptible to traumatic events and stress (Langan-fox and Cooper, 2011). Externalisation of stressful behaviours as a result of being exposed to traumatic events such as severe neglect, abuse and repeated violence is clinically termed as Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) (Royal College of Psychiatrists, 2013). It has been maintained that PTSD creates psychological and physical imbalances in sufferers; and affects their physical and mental well-being negatively (Royal College of Psychiatrists, 2013). From this standpoint, it can be argued that PSTD equally has the potential to affect the well-beings of university students and their academic performances. However, Hall (2005) maintains that besides traumatic events and the resulting PSTD, university students particularly possess unique set of stressors which negatively impact on their everyday experiences in university and affect their academic performances...

Many individuals who have decided to embark on earning a college education, whether it is a bachelor’s degree or higher, have had to contemplate on how they would finance such an endeavor. An increasing number of institutions, including private and federally supported bodies, now offer student loans to help many students obtain a college education. Some students find themselves in what can be considered a downward spiral of increasing debt, as these loans continue to mature over time. Many times payments spread over a number of years, equal what some have spent on what use to be the American dream, which was purchasing a home and having the satisfaction of becoming a proud property owner. At the alarming and increasing rate that students spend on education nowadays, it will eventually be safe to say that many individuals will have some very difficult decisions to make concerning what purchases take precedence over the other. And you have a responsibility to yourself to discover what that is. That's the opportunity an education can provide."- US President Barack Obama Education is a fundamental need of an individual to cope with life. And it is a basic but a very important matter that each and everyone should have. Education makes a man complete. In addition, the education is the principle means by which society carries out its national objective. And its purpose is to foster the development of each individual so that he may achieve the most satisfying life of which he is capable (Mcneil 1998). Education changes an individual. Having knowledge, an individual will have the courage to do anything. Education is the main factor to mold individuals to become what they want. It is true that schools are the primary source in having a formal education. But, not everyone can attend school due to different reasons. The Effect of the Daily Allowance in the Academic Performance of the Second Year Students of the University of the Immaculate Conception Ay 2012 – 2013

...The Effect of the Daily Allowance in the Academic Performance of the Second Year Students of the University of the Immaculate Conception Ay 2012 – 2013 CHAPTER 1 THE PROBLEM AND ITS SETTING Introduction The practice of giving children allowances developed in the early twentieth century when children's purchases of movie tickets, candy, and toys raised concerns about their spending habits. During the Progressive Era (1890s–1920s), allowance advocates recommended giving children a regular but fixed supply of money to inculcate respect for money. Child had endorsed allowances to encourage benevolence and fiscal responsibility. Progressive-era child-rearing authorities joined a much larger chorus calling for new money training regimes in women's magazines and parental advice literature (Child, L.M., 1831). However, despite the benefits gained by the students of having allowance, there are problems and disadvantages present. For example, a student has poor spending habits. They tend to think that this is their money and they can do whatever they want with it. Students have the tendency to spend their allowances on their recreational activities such as, renting a computer unit for fun and games, buying items at the shopping mall, and spending money for the peers. As a study, the proponents seek the effects in line with the daily allowances of students to their academic performance. Statement of the Problem 1. (Eldon, 2008) Facebook is definitely the number one site throughout the globe when it comes to social networking. Through the years Facebook has had some tough competition and has seen many ups and down’s from various lawsuits, but it is still arguably the most popular social networking site used today. (Facebook, 2012) Marketing Opportunity - This site would be an exceptional marketing opportunity to market clothing to college students across the globe or around the world. This would be achievable because of the popularity of Facebook. As we already know, Facebook is used by many if not most of these students, so I would suggest that they branch out and try to use this opportunity. Categorization of Opportunity - Home run Risk of Opportunity - The problem with this opportunity is that it is such a popular site that the students may just want to use it to talk and associate with current and new friends and would not want to see all the companies advertising banners. ...CHAPTER 1 Introduction Copyright ©2008 The McGraw-Hill Companies, Inc. All rights reserved. Overview bro13556_ch01.indd 1 The primary objective of an experiential learning simulation game, such as FinGame Online 5.0 (FG), comes from learning how to plan, formulate strategies, and make sets of sound decisions sequentially through time. FG provides a decisionmaking setting similar in many respects to the financial management requirements of an actual company. The manager of an FG company has the operating control of an entire company. The manager is the chief financial officer (CFO) who also controls major decisions normally managed by the chief executive officer (CEO) and chief operating officer (COO). The FG decision environment is much more complex than the environment found in standard texts and case courses for two primary reasons. First, decisions are entered in many interrelated areas in each period of play. Tools and techniques previously examined, analyzed, and employed in only single-decision problems now must be applied in the presence of interrelationships with many other simultaneously derived decisions. Second, decisions must be entered over several periods of play. The consequences of prior decisions impact the range of decisions available in later periods. To be successful, an adopted strategy must be flexible enough to adjust to a changing environment over time. Avoiding decisions that eliminate a large set of future company options is key...
