Under Philip II Spain had gained a lot of power. By 1580 Spain controlled Portugal, the East Indies, Africa, and India. He waged war against the Ottoman Empire in an attempt to strike down the Muslims and fought the Protestants in England. He use the Spanish Armada to fight his wars. He was undefeated until 1588 when he attacked the Protestants.
Some major figures from the Spanish golden age were El Greco, Diego Velazquez, and Miguel de Cervantes. El Greco was an immensely popular artist who was a catholic painter. Diego Velazquez was also a famous painter he served Philip IV of Spain. He is best known for his royal portraits. Miguel de Cervantes wrote Don Quixote de La Mancha. That book was considered the birth of the European novel.

He built Versailles and was a patron of art. He also loved to be called the sun king because he thought like the sun everything revolved around him.
The 30 years' war was caused by cardinal Cardinal Richelieu. This war was won by the French. The next war that France got in was the war of Spanish succession. The war of Spanish succession was because King Charles II died without a heir and he gave the throne to king Louis XIV. The other European countries felt threatened that the 2 most powerful nations were controlled by the same family. The war ended with a promise that France and Spain would remain independent nations.
The thirty years war was started by cardinal Richelieu. He caused it because he stripped the nobles of their power and there land. He also refused to allow the Protestants (Huguenots) to build walls around their towns and cities for protection. France faced all areas controlled by the Habsburg. For the first 12 years the Habsburg dominated but for the last 18 years France won.

He conquered much of the area surrounding Moscow. He centralized the Russian government. He was succeeded by Ivan IV or Ivan the terrible who accomplished nothing helpful. Then Peter I, Peter the great, westernized Russia and he helped Russia the most.
Russia wasn’t modernized until Peter the Great. This means everything was like years behind in Russia. Russia was having some trouble until Peter the Great. Russia wasn't really doing anything important until it was modernized by Peter.
Peter the Great became the sole ruler of Russia in 1696. He westernized Russia and established himself as an absolute ruler of Russia in order to combat protests. Some major changes that he did included introducing potatoes to the Russian diet. He started the first Russian newspaper. He raised the status of woman. He imposed western fashion. He produced a better education system. And finally he modernized russia’s army.
Charles I always was revolting against the English parliament. He would fire all of them when he asked for money and they refused. Then when they gave him money they forced him to sign the petition of rights which he signs and then he ignores it which then leads to the english civil
