El Mariachi with an amateur cast and being filmed on location gave this film a realistic effect. Having this film shot at a small town in Mexico it added more to having it seem realistic because of the background fitting so well with the actors and the plot of the film, but what put the film over the top was the acting. A scene in which the acting seem real was when El Mariachi just arrived to town and went into a bar to look for work. The actors in the bar looked exactly how a bar in a small town in Mexico would look like. Everything about the scene seem realistic from the beers in the fridge, to bartender, and dark atmosphere of the bar.
