Pulling into Euclid Hospital Friday evening, February 24th at 7pm, the parking lot was very busy with consistent traffic flow in and out. Cars, Trucks and SUVs filled 90% of the parking lot. The Hospital was brick, light tan in color, sitting on approximately 17 acres. Green white and blue security truck sitting outside the E.R entrance where a big red hung over the glass revolving double doors that said “Emergency”. The front of the Emergency room entrance there were big glass square windows that went from the bottom of the building to the top. 3 large round posts stood several feet from the entrance. A large grass filled island was in the front of the doors that cars circled around.

I observed people from 7pm-10:15pm. As a sat in my chair I observed an African American sitting in the lobby close to the red phone. She wasn’t wearing a wrist band so she was not a patient. This woman was wearing denim jeans and a black t-shirt with black combat boots. She constantly looked at the clock on the wall. She reached for the red phone on the wall to make a call into the E.R. She talked on the phone for 25 seconds and hung up the phone. An African American toddler, wearing an orange jacket, and blue jeans with short curly black hair, was constantly running back and forth from his chair to that aquarium, saying the colors of the fish. There was an elderly caucasian lady, wearing a pink jogging suite asleep in a wheel chair with yarn, and a crochet needle in her lap. She would awake every now and then to crochet a little then she would fall back to sleep. The Toddler in the orange jacket ran up to a woman wearing a blue denim jacket, leggings and brown Ugg boots. She was also wearing a hospital registration band to be seen by a doctor. The both of them then walked over to the vending machine and purchased an ice tea and a coke. While observing the toddler drinking his beverage, there was a young man that walked up to the metal detector. He was wearing, black Adidas jogging pants with a matching track jacket. All interactions from all the staff members that I observed were very courteous and concerning giving the hospital a very pleasant atmosphere. The receptionist was very patient with everyone even though there was an elderly white hair Caucasian man wearing blue jeans and a blue shirt yelling disrespectfully at them, because he felt as if he had been waiting to long to be seen by a doctor. They greeted him with a smile every time he approached their desk, which was 3 times in a 30 minute time frame.
I observed a total of 75 people. 50 African Americans, 40 were female, and ten were male. 20 Caucasians, 15 were females, and 5 males, along with, 5 female Hispanics. There were 55 people that used the snack machine, and 45 visitors purchased beverages from the vending machine. 22 Peoples was visiting with patients and 45 people were actual patients wearing visitor bands. 2 of the people observed were doctors and 6 were nurses. Out of the 75 people 50 of them purchased a snack from the vending machine. 45 people purchased beverages. 70 out 75 were texting on their phone. 10 people arrived in a wheel chair. 16 people fell asleep in the lobby, and 13 people were
