...Emotions and attitudes play a big role in the organisation in terms of productivity and employee motivation. Emotions are the physiological, behavioural, and psychological episodes experienced towards an object, person or event. Attitudes represent the cluster of beliefs, assessed feelings and behavioural intentions towards a person, object or event. The difference between emotions and attitudes is that emotions occur without our awareness. So even if we feel a certain way about a situation, it will depend on the person's emotion dissonance. Attitude on the other hand happens with our own conscious logical reasoning. In the case study "Bust Up", Wendy is no happy about the new manager, Tracy,as she assumed that the position would have been given to her. Both Tracy and Wendy go though certain emotions and attitudes. Wendy has already gone though some parts of the EVLN model. The first one that was Wendy used would be "Neglect". When she found out that Tanya was becoming the manager, she lost her temper as she walked past Tanya's office and took one month of work to "reconsider her position at the clinic". Wendy's future plan with her job is very un-stable at that moment. It doesn't feel like she needs to discuss her situation with anyone as she probably knows that all the nurses in the clinic know her story. This being the case, the "Loyalty" stage of the EVLN model has been skipped. If there are no plans to deal with Wendy's situation, I would predict that Wendy choose the "Exit"...

...| DECEMBER 17, 2014How Do I Trust Again? SUZIE ELLER | "Blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD, whose trust is the LORD. He is like a tree planted by water, that sends out its roots by the stream, and does not fear when heat comes, for its leaves remain green, and is not anxious in the year of drought, for it does not cease to bear fruit." Jeremiah 17:7-8 (ESV) We walked into the doctor's office fully expecting good news. We walked out carrying a slew of pamphlets and news that we didn't see coming. Cancer is a place we've been through before as a couple. Except back then it was me, and now it's him. In the hours after his diagnosis, we attended a sweet birthday celebration for a grandchild. We danced under the stars at a family wedding. When the busy weekend finally passed, I sat in the living room with my Bible in front of me. Sun streamed in through windows as I grieved. Lord, I don't want to do this again. I glanced at my open Bible and read the Scripture verse in Jeremiah I'd committed to memory the week before: "Blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD, whose trust is the LORD. He is like a tree planted by water, that sends out its roots by the stream, and does not fear when heat comes, for its leaves remain green, and is not anxious in the year of drought, for it does not cease to bear fruit." As I memorized it, I had pictured a tall tree, its leafy branches hovering over the water, roots reaching for nourishment. The tree was laden with fruit, though everything...

...Examining Emotions, Attitudes, and Job Satisfaction BUS 520 – Leadership and Organizatinal Behavior . Emotion, attitude and job satisfaction can influence decision-making. A poor decision-making is an effect of negative behavior or mood and can interfere with a person’s job or decision-making. Job satisfaction is another way whereby employees can be influence. Emotions determine job satisfaction (and vice-versa) and how employees attitude influence the performance of the organization. Having all these traits can be asset to all the managers and directors in a company whose job is to entail the planning and decision-making. Making sense on how people behave can depend on understanding their attitudes. Some people can have emotional attachments toward the company they work for (and some don’t). Managers can have some strong influence over the satisfaction of employees and how they are treated fairly. Managers have a collection of feelings and beliefs that can be strongly attached to job satisfaction. I have come to notice that ambition can negatively influence job satisfaction more so in making decisions in part of the roles that the employees play. Job satisfaction in other words, can be placed as a positive emotional state resulting from a great culture to another, providing better chances to employee’s participation in decision-making. Job satisfaction can be one-dimensional if it comprises evaluation in the interest of employee’s attitudes. Later in...

...Case Study 1: Examining Emotions, Attitudes, and Job Satisfaction Leadership and Organizational Behavior (BUS 520) Dr. Antoinette Bridges KB Gause January 26, 2015 Case Study 1: Examining Emotions, Attitudes, and Job Satisfaction When grocery stores come to mind, we often tend to think of the typical family-friendly environments we’re accustomed to—like our local Publix or Food Lion supermarkets. They are generally set up the same way, they offer almost all the same products, and they’re management operates in almost the same or very similar fashions. The employees are usually pleasant and friendly, their hours of operation are about the same, and most local supermarkets tend to sell products grown or manufactured locally. So what sets these regular supermarkets apart from one another? Aside from price differences and a few differing product offerings from store to store, there aren’t very many differences. This is where stores like Whole Foods and Trader Joe’s come in and break the “boring” grocery store mold. Unlike other chain supermarkets and grocery stores, Whole Foods and Trader Joe’s are specialty foods stores. They offer a variety of the freshest foods and ingredients grown both locally and from around the world. These stores are also very popular for their sustainability efforts that range from the organic products they sell to the paper bags they use when bagging customers’ purchases. These companies are also very well known for not only satisfying...

...MARKKU S. HANNULA ATTITUDE TOWARDS MATHEMATICS: EMOTIONS, EXPECTATIONS AND VALUES ABSTRACT. This article suggests a new framework for analysing attitude and changes in attitude. After reviewing relevant findings in the field of psychology of emotions, the author will provide a new conceptualisation for attitude. Four different evaluative processes are identified as aspects of attitude: emotions aroused in the situation, emotions associated with the stimuli, expected consequences, and relating the situation to personal values. The usefulness of this analytical framework will be illustrated with an exemplary case study. An ethnographic case study of Rita, a lower secondary school student, will be analysed. The case study will describe her negative attitude towards mathematics, and then examine how negative emotions developed during problem solving situations. Within half a year her attitude towards mathematics changed dramatically to more positive. KEY WORDS: attitude, case study, change, emotion, expectation, value 1. I NTRODUCTION 1.1. Earlier findings The everyday notion of attitude refers to someone’s basic liking or disliking of a familiar target. A general overview of the development of attitudes throughout school years is documented through surveys and metaanalyses. These studies have shown that, for example, girls tend to have more negative attitudes towards mathematics than boys (Frost et al., 1994; Leder, 1995), and that attitudes tend to become more...

...Case Study 1: Examining Emotions, Attitudes, and Job Satisfaction Trader Joe’s By: Earl Kenneth Remo Jr. Dr. Christopher McGrath Business 520 Leadership and Organization Friday, October 24, 2014 Trader Joe's once began with the founder Joe "Trader Coulombe, while vacationing in the Caribbean, he launched a very unique store brand to compete against 7-Eleven and Pronto Markets. Based in my hometown of Los Angeles, California, Joe decided to revamp his business from Pronto Markets to Trader Joes in Pasadena back in 1967. Now, Trader Joe's is one of the best produce markets in all of Los Angeles. Me and my family have been shopping there since 1997. Matter of fact, our favorite location is 3rd Street and Fairfax Avenue in Farmers Market. They have the best fresh produce that you cannot even think of. I see how employees continuously stay consistent within the company. Trader Joe's uses a friendly, flashy, aggressive, customer-oriented approach to promote a positive work environment for its employees. Employees where Hawaiian shirts, great customer service in which employees will demonstrate and sample the product to its customers on a daily basis from their workstation. The employees have a "Do what we do" mentally at every store, every day and the employees do not have to change prices of the products regardless what holiday or special day it is. The culture of the company, its product knowledge, customer and community involvement is what management cultivates its store...

...Negative attitude of students towards language also stemmed from curriculum management throughout the educational grade systems. In exploring attitudes and preferences of student toward learning English, Al- Bustan (2009) found that some of the participants developed a strong dislike for learning English because of the discontinuity between teaching approaches used in their former high school at university with regards to negative attitudes. Poor motivation leading to poor attitudes was also found to be caused by the fact that English was not valued throughout the curriculum since it was not given the status of major subject at university level. This study showed that poor attitudes were also caused by beliefs of the students that their teachers used approaches which did not motivate them to learn. Some learners viewed English as instrumentally worthless that it did not serve any professional purposes. As a consequence, they developed poor attitudes toward English (Abu-Melhim,...

...evaluate how attitudes and emotions influence behaviors, this discussion will discuss attitudes and job satisfaction. The discussion will start by describing what attitudes are and how to effectively deal with attitudes. Attitudes An attitude is described as the way that a person or thing feels about another person or thing, whether it is in a positive or negative way. According to University of Phoenix, Leadership in Organizations; “attitudes are evaluative statements, either favorable or unfavorable, concerning objects, people, or events.” It determines how employee feels about either a person or thing. (University of Phoenix, 2008) Attitudes can be very complicated when an individual displays how he or she is feeling. An employee can ask someone how he or she feels about another employee, place or thing and, the individual will gladly give a response, but when one go farther and ask why he or she feels that way. Then it will go deeper in depth-on answering why the employee feels that way. This occurs when attitudes become more complicated but at the same time can team to effectively understanding each other. This results in the team’s effective production. It is stated that there are supposed to be three parts to attitudes that one cannot do without the other. The first is cognitive, which evaluates the situation. The next is the effective part which represents the more critical part of an attitude by exemplifying the emotional portion of an attitude. Last, the behavioral...
