1. What do you think are some of the factors in the modern workplace that contribute to a theft of time? How can those factors be managed?
A major factor that contributes to the theft of time in the workplace is cell phones. Cell phones have become such a necessity for some people that they carry them virtually every waking hour, including at work. If the company is monitoring calls, an employee is most likely to use their cell phone making personal calls, accessing social networking sites and mostly texting. Using cell phone in the workplace can cause problems because of lost productivity. Employees engaged in personal cell phone conversations or using their cell phones to check social networking sites are wasting their employers' time unless they are on break. The potential for lost productivity is a key reason some employers seek to decrease cell phone use at work. A company can decrease cell phone use by banning phones from all meetings, group training sessions and conferences. Companies can implement and govern cell phone usage policies in the workplace while striking a balance that is fair to the company and its workers.

2. What does the word Whistleblower mean (legally speaking)? Give an example of whistleblowing.
A whistleblower is a person who has knowledge of illegal activity going on within the company that management and other executives may not be aware of and they notify the appropriate person to put a stop to the illegal activity. An example of whistleblowing would be an employee knows that two other employees steal clothes from the store when they close together. The two employees have a routine of how they steal the merchandise and not get caught. The employee who knows about the activity going on reports this to the store manager so the two employees who are stealing will be caught and terminated

My opinion on the topic has not changed in the slightest, but I did learn a lot of interesting details concerning it. I have always felt that marijuana should be legalized, or at the very least, people with serious medical conditions should have access to it. And marijuana doesn’t even have to be legalized in my opinion, but it should definitely be decriminalized. I don’t think anyone who wants to smoke a plant that they grow themselves should have to suffer consequences, considering they are responsible in their recreational smoking. I do feel that if it were legalized, that there should be an acceptable age limit to buy and/or consume marijuana, comparable to that of alcohol. There are beneficial as well as harmful effects concerning marijuana, but that goes for a lot of things people do in everyday life. And I feel that a lot of time has been spent shining the spotlight on the harmful effects of marijuana, while little research has been done or even allowed, on the benefits of marijuana.
