...Donna Holcomb English1 03/09/18 Task 1 “Uncoiling,” by Pat Mora is a poem that portrays figurative language. I chose this poem because of the clear connection with personification and imagery through figurative language. This type of language is a system an author uses to convey a story or message through different techniques. Those techniques include, simile, personification, imagery, alliteration, metaphor, hyperbole, and onomatopoeia. Mora uses personification and imagery to create a moving image for her audience. The figurative language is imperative in this poem because it creates a unique picture that makes the audience think about the meaning of the poem. Personification is evident through the entire poem. Mora conveys a moving...

...Dakari Fowler L. Thompson English1 11/23/2015 Sports Are Beneficial Have you ever thought about why people do sports? Many people fail to find good reason. Exercise and physical activity is a very important factor in today’s world. Because of the benefits that are possible from sports involvement society needs to encourage involvement more. Children and young adults that participate in sports like activities tend to develop good habits that they continue to use into adulthood. Many people feel that sports are not beneficial and fail to become engaged. Sports involvement not only helps build healthier lifestyles but also allows people to become socially active and occasionally provide added incentives to educational costs and careers. Despite some people believing that sports participation carries negative effects as well I believe the good outweighs the bad. With more than a third of the adults in the USA being classified ad obese, many overweight it is important for more people to become involve in sports. People that do sports on a regular basis burn more calories than those that don’t. Those people that are involve are less likely to end up overweight. It has been noted that exercise and sports activities help decrease heart disease, strokes, manage high blood pressure, diabetes and a range of other conditions. Many people fail to realize that also that sports involvement allows those that eat healthy extra calorie allowance so they won’t feel guilty...

...Gayatri Nair Mrs. Stahmer English1 1st Period CUBAN MISSILE CRISIS John .F. Kennedy was the youngest man to become the president of the United States. He held office for almost 3 years before being assassinated in Dallas, Texas. He faced many important events while being in office, such as the Cuban Missile Crisis and The Bay of Pigs. During his second year of presidency he was warned by his advisors that the United States might be under threat by the Soviet Union. They suspected that the Soviet Union had started to build powerful missiles which would be transported to the island of Cuba. These missiles would have the capability to travel great distances and could hit major US cities such as Washington D.C, Houston and San Francisco. John F. Kennedy knew about the strained relationship between the United States While John F. Kennedy was suspicious at first later it was clear to him that this was an act to shift the power from U.S to the Soviet Union. After he was completely sure about the situation JFK addressed the public on this issue on October 22, 1962. He explained his decision to perform a naval blockade near the coast of Cuba, he also said that the US was ready to use military force if there is a threat to national security. The Cold War was one of the most important wars and would have been one of the most deadly wars of the 20th century. The Cold War is the closest that the world has come to a nuclear war. One of the main events of this war was the Cuban...

Wang is Associate Director (Research), NUS Enterprise Centre, National University of Singapore, Singapore. Introduction Story of Alibaba.com The development of e-commerce has been nothing short of explosive in recent years. Many believe that its growth and impact will only become more prevailing in the future. The sale of goods by US firms over the Internet, for example, is predicted to reach $1.3 trillion by 2003. By 2004, European enterprises are expected to have online sales of $1.6 trillion[1]. Companies in China, with the largest population in the world, are also probing this new source of revenue. The China Internet Network Information Center (CNNIC) issued an Annual Report in Internet Development in January 2000 that estimates that there were 22.5 million Internet users in China at the end of 2000[2]. A recent nationwide survey showed that China had more than 1,100 consumer related e-commerce Web sites by the end of the first quarter in 2000 (People’s Daily, 2000). Four Web companies, Sina.com, Sohu.com, China.com, and Netease.com have already been listed on the NASDAQ. However, the country’s e-commerce market is still in its infancy....

...CHAPTER I INTRODUCTION International Christian College of Manila (ICCM) according to the Wikipedia, is a private, non-profit co-educational Bible college of the non-denominational Christian Churches/Churches of Christ as rooted on the Stone-Campbell Restoration Movement, whose existence is anchored, among others, on the preservation of primitive New Testament Christianity. Its main campus is in San Jose, Antipolo City, province of Rizal, Philippines. In accordance with the Philippine law, ICCM first received its permit to operate from the country’s Commission on Higher Education (CHED) on 8 March 2005. The college started in July 2000 when a number of advanced students of theology from other Bible seminaries found that they no longer had a Bible college in which to study. The students approached church ministers of Metro Manila like Nick Alfafara, Robert and Nezie Cabalteja, and Ross and Cheryl Wissmann for help with a new college where they could continue their training for the church. The first classes were held in the Wissmann’s residence then in Mapayapa Village I, Quezon City. The first professors were Bobby and Nezie Cabalteja, Tito Pel, Ferdinand Rosete, and Ross and Cheryl Wissmann. By August 2000, premises were rented in Village Plaza Building at the corner of Narra and Sampaguita streets at Mapayapa Village III that served as boys’ dorm and classrooms while the girls’ dormitory was at the nearby Bueno Sol, Ramax Subdivision...
