Dear Mr Choi

Re. Order No. 768197

I am writing to inform you that the goods we ordered from your company have not been supplied correctly.

On 31 March 2014 we placed an order with your firm for 12,000 ultra super long-life batteries. The consignment arrived yesterday but contained only 1,200 batteries.

This error put our firm in a difficult position, as we had to make some emergency purchases to fulfill our commitments to all our customers. This caused us considerable inconvenience.

I am writing to ask you to please make up the shortfall immediately and to ensure that such errors do not happen again. Otherwise, we may have to look elsewhere for our supplies.

I look forward to hearing from you by return.

Yours sincerely

Dear Sir/Madam
I attended your exhibition Sound Systems 2014 at the Fortune Hotel from 27 - 28 March and found it informative and interesting. Unfortunately, my enjoyment of the event was spoiled by a number of organizational problems.
Firstly, I had difficulty in registering to attend the event. The on-line registration facility was set up but I found the facility totally unworkable. Even after spending several wasted hours trying to register in this way, the computer would not accept my application. I eventually succeeded in registering by faxing you.
Secondly, the exhibition was held at one of Johor's most prestigious hotels, but frankly the venue was better suited to a medium-sized business conference than to a large exhibition open by registration to the public. The lack of space led to serious overcrowding in the venue, particularly at peak visiting times (i.e. lunch times and early evening). On one or two occasions I was also seriously concerned about the physical safety of attendees.
The final point I want to make concerns product information. It is very enjoyable to see and test a range of excellent sound systems, but it is also important to be able to take away leaflets on interesting products, so that more research can be done before deciding which system to buy. However, by the time I attended the exhibition all the leaflets had been taken.
Could I please ask you to look into these matters - not only on my behalf but also on behalf of other attendees, and in fact on behalf of your company too.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Yours faithfully
Michael Leung

...WRITING A COVERING LETTER FOR SENDING A C.V. OR RESUME OR BIODATA Author: Prof. Pallavi Deshmukh Dear Readers! Till now you would have read many articles on How to write Resume and related material but today I am focusing on Cover Letter which as much important as your Resume is. Cover letters go hand-in-hand with resumes. While a resume presents a candidate’s general skills and qualifications, cover letters go into more detail regarding qualifications for a particular vacancy. Therefore, in most cases a cover letter should accompany a resume mailing, and should be tailored for each job opening whenever possible. ➢ How to address Address the cover letter to a specific individual whenever possible. Sometimes the name of the person is contained in the ad or posting. Blind ads with box number addresses are usually addressed as ‘Dear Recruiter’. For unsolicited cover letters, write to the Human Resources Director, or Head of the Department in which you are seeking employment (such as the Sales Manager or Director of Communications). A quick call to the organization will usually get you the information that you need. ➢ Content of letter It is a good idea to use the name of the individual whenever possible to make the letter more personal. Make sure that you have correct spelling of names and appropriate titles for your cover letter. a) Use the first paragraph to indicate why you are writing and to outline your qualifications. This term places the maximum obligation on the buyer and minimum obligations on the seller. The Ex Works term is often used when making an initial quotation for the sale of goods without any costs included. EXW means that a buyer incurs the risks for bringing the goods to their final destination. The seller does not load the goods on collecting vehicles and does not clear them for export. If the seller does load the goods, he does so at buyer's risk and cost. If parties wish seller to be responsible for the loading of the goods on departure and to bear the risk and all costs of such loading, this must be made clear by adding explicit wording to this effect in the contract of sale. The buyer arranges the pickup of the freight from the supplier's designated ship site, owns the in-transit freight, and is responsible for clearing the goods through Customs. The buyer is responsible for completing all the export documentation. Cost of goods sold transfers from the seller to the buyer. Many non-native English speakers study the subject with the goal of doing business with English-speaking countries, or with companies located outside the Anglosphere but which nonetheless use English as a shared language or lingua franca. Much of the English communication that takes place within business circles all over the world occurs between non-native speakers. In cases such as these, the object of the exercise is efficient and effective communication. The strict rules of grammar are in such cases sometimes ignored, when, for example, a stressed negotiator's only goal is to reach an agreement as quickly as possible. (See linguist Braj Kachru's theory of the "expanding circle".) Business English means different things to different people. For some, it focuses on vocabulary and topics used in the worlds of business, trade, finance, and international relations. For others it refers to the communication skills used in the workplace, and focuses on the language and skills needed for typical business communication such as presentations, negotiations, meetings, small talk, socializing, correspondence, report writing, and a systematic approach.
