...Lying can be justified when you are going it to help someone else out. Or if it is to protect someone other than yourself. In the “Diaries of Anne Frank” she explains that people lied to help her and her family. The family protecting the Franks lied to help them even though there lives were at risk. This shows that sometimes to protect other people, it’s okay to lie. In article 1 paragraph 2 a survey by the AP-Ipsos poll said that ⅔ poll said that it was okay to lie to help somebody out. I also think that it is okay that if you make a mistake you can lie to save a relationship. So in another AP-Ipsos poll in paragraph 7 of article 1 65% of people said it was okay to lie to avoid hurting someone's feelings. So sometimes that means that you...

...removed my sweat drenched shirt and just laid against the tile floor. I have never experience such pain and nausea in my life. I didn’t want to think about the many possibilities that could be wrong with me. "Ki you alright?" asked my eight year old brother behind my bathroom door. "Yes boo just go get me a bottle of water." I could hear him scurrying off down the stairs to the kitchen. I tried my best to stand up but I just felt too weak. All of a sudden my body grew very tired and I couldn’t get my body to move. I heard my door open and a scream. "Mom, Dad hurry!" yelled my brother Jasone. I didn’t understand why he was screaming until I followed his horrified eyes down to my floor and there was blood everywhere. I slowly reached up to touch my nose and I felt the blood all over my hands and I knew something was definitely wrong. My brother rushed over to me and held my head in his lap as he cried. I tried to reach up and touch him but it all hurt too much. "Lord please I’m not ready to die." I said to myself. "Mom!!" my brother cried out again. "Jasone what is you doing in your sister room and screaming on-" she couldn’t continue her sentence as she saw the scene in front of her. "Don Don hurry!" She quickly rushed over to me and held my head from Jasone. "Baby what wrong where do it hurt?" she asked frantically. I only could think of one word. "Everywhere." My dad quickly rushed into my bathroom and from then on everything moved into fast motion. The ambulance came and...

...non-intimate levels to deeper, more individual ones. The longer we spend with others; we have a tendency to self-disclose a lot of intimate thoughts and details of our life. Active listening is a process of sending back to the speaker what you as a listener think the speaker meant- both in content and in feelings. Listening could be a relationship ability that almost all people have not learned. Active listening is, if practiced and down pat, is the simplest gift you will be able to provide your partner. Honesty is key to making a long distance relationship work. However, I will admit I have lied a time or two. There are different types of lies and they vary greatly in type. The social penetration is at the basis of the formation of my long distance relationship with Jason. Being in a long distance relationship requires self-disclosure, active listening, and some forms of...

...everyone away, and she starts to wonder, but why? Adrian usually lies in one spot under a huge tree which is beside this huge playground; he would lay there for hours watching the clouds go by. Julienne ended up seeing him because she also goes there every day to play with her friends; she decided to approach him when all her friends had to leave. July 27th, 2016; 5;30pm; “Hey Adrian, I’ve noticed that you always seem to be lonely, would you like to become friends?” Julienne says. “But, why would you want to become friends with me?” Adrian replies. “Why not?! You seem like a pretty cool dude to be around with although you’re very quiet and shy, I’m surely confident that we could get along and become close friends!” Julienne says. “Sure, sorry if I’m not the most entertaining person but once you get to know me more, I’ll surely open up and probably be more comfortable speaking to you” Adrian replies. “Would you mind if I sit beside you and we could ask each other questions so we could get to know each other more” Julienne asks. “Go ahead, I don’t mind at all. I’ll ask you a question first, when’s your birthday?” Adrian replies and asks. “My birthday is on the 30th of July, how about you? Do you have any siblings? Julienne asks. “Mine is on the 22nd of October, it seems like you’re just a couple of months older than me, and yeah, I used to but they’re all gone. My parents, siblings, and everyone I’ve been close to have left and that’s why I choose to push everyone away because they...

...Due 7/29/14: Question 1: Describe the communication process. How is this impacted where you work? Response: The communication process is divided up into steps that people complete very quickly. A person has an idea and then takes the idea and places into a message, then decides how the idea is going to be communicated (email, conversation, etc.). Once the person with the idea picks the channel of how they will present the idea, they send it. The audience will then receive the message, decode the message for the meaning and then responds to the message and can provide feedback toward the message sender. The way communication is suppose to work at my current job is the Director has the information, she tells the 2 managers and the 2 managers tell the supervisors that report to them. The supervisors then tell their leads and then the other people who report to them. This way everyone has all the information and the Director is not required to tell everyone. This was outlined in my training process. However, this is not the way communication always works for us. The Director sometimes will call in the supervisors and tell them stuff to tell their team and then pulls in the managers and tells them something different- although the main information is all correct, we all hear it differently and in different ways from her. This causes major confusion! Due to the confusion this has been causing us we have all told the director that we need to go back to the way the communication...

I mean I know losing Johnny must have been hard for him, but I thought we were past all that. “You don’t wanna do that, Dally,” Darry said, breaking into my own thoughts. Then I heard Two-Bit whisper to Steve behind me. “He’s not thinking right, he’s gone Looney Tunes on us.” “C’mon Dal, stop acting crazy. This won’t bring Johnny back.” I yelled. I looked at Dally, and it looked like a completely different person now. He no longer looked like...

...Writing my dreams after waking up was a very difficult task for me and I know many of the lucid dreamers hate doing this because that early morning time is often a busy one that’s why I will provide you a few alternatives here that will enable you to have lucid dreams without a need to keep a dream journal. Before looking at the alternative methods allow me to explain it to you why we actually keep record of our dreams.. Purpose of the Dream Journal Usually we only remember dreams that occurred to us a few minutes before waking up and sometimes we remember a little more but, till the time you come out from bathroom you would have forgotten them all unless you had an interesting one. There are people who would say that they don’t get dream at all but that’s not true, it is not that they are lying as they actually don’t know that they had dreams..why?..it is because they forget their dreams even before they are fully awake....

...THE STUDY OF ETHICS The 20th Century, an age of electronics, nuclear fission, daring surgery, wonder drugs, computers, and space travel. Will we, the people of the 20th Century be remembered as having lived in the golden age when man finally stuck his finger into the heavens? Will we be remembered because of our scientific breakthroughs and medical gifts that we have given to man? Will we, indeed, be the century of progress? Do recall, in addition to all of our scientific breakthroughs, 20th Century man must stand responsible for two world wars which were the most destructive in the history of mankind, innumerable police actions, the near extermination of a nation of people, and a century that has been marked by starvation, over-population, deprivation, and extermination. With all of our scientific breakthroughs, with all of our great accomplishments, we must accept the truth that this century will also be remembered as one that cynically denied human values while allowing brutal aggression against human rights. What, then, do you think history will remember? Will we be remembered because of our great technological strides, or will we be remembered as a century filled with turmoil, of war? Though we brag about our technology, it is likely that our grandchildren will look back upon us as we have looked back upon our grandparents. Our rockets, computers, and medical breakthroughs will appear as clumsy to our grandchildren as did the claims of our grandparents relative...

When she saw me, she stumbled down the walkway waving for me to stop, which I did and rolled down my window. “I want you to apologize and pay for my top and pants you ruined when you threw the soda on me the other day,” she said breathing hard. “You are out of your ever loving mind.” “I saw it in the paper and have been waiting to talk to you. Remember, you didn’t believe I saw Jerry go into a sleazy motel on Hill Street, but I did. My friend, Alice saw him with his arm around someone in a parking lot the other evening. It was getting dark and she didn’t recognize them, but knew it was Jerry with another woman. She wanted to forget about it since Jerry isn’t here to deny it.” “What do you want from me? Get your ass back in the house and don’t ever speak to me again.” I wanted to get out of the car and hit her in the nose for lying about my husband. But when I thought about it, I was twenty-eight and she was eighty-four, attacking her might not be the best thing to do, I could go to jail. We walked going to the parked cars so I pull Carly harshly from the ground. “Carly?” I raise my eyebrows and look intensely in her eyes. “I don’t know, he didn’t tell me this, trust me he’ll do well,” she whispered. Huh! Why does Theo like surprises? He holds my hand tight as if he’ll never let go of it so is Carly’s hand. “After you ladies,” Theo pleased as he open the door. He’s a gentleman. I fake a smile to show I’m not nervous but ugh! “Thanks Thee-…,” Carly said in a sweet and seductive voice. “Come here!” I interrupted pulling her hands. Theo just smirked then I noticed his smoldering blue eyes and perfectly- chiseled jaw line and cheekbone flares. He’s hot; it’s getting hot in here. A guy dressed in a khaki trench coat paired with black jeans closed the door and he’s also the driver. He started the engine so I try to turn my head if the people are following us then Theo put his hand on my right shoulder. “They’re following us, don’t worry.” He said in a raspy voice which make him more an ideal guy. “Okay!” I replied and fake a smile again. Geez! Why I’m nervous! Carly is with me. I breathe heavily to calm myself. “A little gawk guys! You two should be here and I’ll sit beside Mr....

...There are many reasons why we lie, whether it is to protect ourselves, protect someone we love, to escape an uncomfortable experience, for the thrill of it, or due to a disorder. In every aspect of our lives, and from every angle, deceptive stimuli bombards our nervous system and keeps our brains constantly at work to weed out the information that is correct from the information that is false. Advertisements, our parents, our children, friends, and siblings, those who we have more intimate relationships with, and even ourselves, deceive us, just as we are deceitful to them. There are many degrees to lying, varying from little white lies, to blatant deception and perjury. The motives and desired outcomes of those who lie vary greatly from person to person, as well as the degree to which they lie. Most people would agree that there are times when it is acceptable to tell white lies or even a bigger lie for the greater good, if the truth is not something of importance. I will discuss several facets of deception. To start, I will describe several types of lies and give definitions and examples of them. Then, I will talk about some facts about the frequency at which we are deceptive on an average day, and situations in which we generally increase or decrease how deceptive we are. Next, I will discuss why lies are prevalent in relationships, and how deception creates friction in the workplace. After that, I will talk about how we deceive ourselves, and why, what motivates us to...
